and with the 17th pick in the 2024 NBA draft the Los Angeles Lakers select Dalton connect the University of Tennessee you got it there Stephen A A unanimous first team All-American a shooter is going to I’m wored for Lakers I’m worried for Lakers president of n basketball operation for right here right now all right that’s what you need that’s right you’re JJ reic okay that’s what you want you know how important you is LeBron James is going to get you open shots Anthony Davis kicks it out to somebody he don’t need Brick Layers they don’t need construction workers they need a shooter this is connect I love the name by the way connect that’s what he brings to the table I think this is the pick you were supposed to get way to go Lakers way to go that’s what you need I am very afraid for Laker n stop it man I I feel awful for them so bad seriously C they should be concerned they should be concerned hands there with JJ to them before the pi way to go way to go we’re talking about a young man that received no division one scholarship offers as a senior his basketball Journey has been long and whining but ending up at Rocky Top for one season a dream come true he’s 66 plays the two or the three everything he does according to his goty report offensively should translate to the NBA don’t connect with Monica mcnut I understand you have a little surprise yeah I got something underneath the suit the you know I got all my accolades on the left and you know got aart B Nation and Shout out the baseball team and stuff like that for winning but you know I’m excited we see a Gucci label too as well all right look there’s a guy that had a similar path to yours and Derek white that just became an NBA champion went from D2 to the NBA you’re coming from Junior College and now have this opportunity what has changed for you when you didn’t get any offers coming out of high school to get you to this moment uh it’s a dream come true you know it’s a Once in a Lifetime top opportunity but like it’s just a blessing that’s all I can say I’m lost for words and I’m ready to get to work when you get to work though what are your new teammates going to say about you uh hard worker you know I’m going to be in the gym every single day that’s what I do outstanding congratulations do appreciate you listen nice shout about 37% from three-point range which is not bad that was the top 10 three-point shooting team in the game I get that but there were too many games Bob where I saw LeBron and Anthony Davis kicking it out the guys and they just weren’t getting it done I understand overall number looks good but on too many key occasions I didn’t like what I saw from three-point R I think I like it now JJ reic made a point in his press conference Stephen A that they have to shoot more threes they have to and I think that was a smart thing because it’s too hard to win in the NBA now with such a low three-point attempt rate that the Lakers had but this guy right here D connect we were joking around besides the fact that you wanted to pick him I think it’s a really good pick for the Lakers because LeBron James is going to make it real easy for do connect D connect just got to stand there he’s going to be open with Anthony Davis and make shots and he has already shown he can do that and the fact that Anthony Davis being one of the best defensive players in the league if there was questions about D connects defense which I think there is some questions having Anthony Davis behind you erases a lot of concern there credit to you it’s rare but you were right again the fact of the matter is is that they were listen they were 28th in the league in three-point shoot in three-point field goal attempts so that that piggy backs off your point again there were times most of the time they were a top 10 three-point shooting team when they took them percentage wise but on too many occasions I didn’t see them hitting in key games key moments when they needed the three the most I didn’t like it they needed a shooter a young man shot 40% from three and how about 6 35o games last season at the college level I up [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
