Minnesota Minnesota killed it today they won the draft they oh absolutely Rob Dillingham and tan Shannon oh my God yeah that’s why you try and get more picks like I for anybody that’s why you try and get more P but I digress you gotta get Anthony Edwards first anyway um Matas Billa to me is uh this is a really solid pick by the Chicago boyss in fact this is a dare I say and and I said this over on the brid and we were live for our daily show or for our uh for our our NBA draft uh live rep da show you you were fine you a long day it’s been a um this is the first pick that AK has made that I don’t question s i shouldn’t say that since I dumma but I’m a huge Illinois fan I knew what IO was gonna bring I knew of given an opportunity he could go out there be that level of Defender for you stuff like that right so outside of a dumu this is the first first round pick from AK that I don’t question and the reason I don’t question it is because to me you know what has as this is what he does coming in Patrick Williams was all upside he was like well he can do this he can get to a point where he does this dalen Terry we were both blindsided by we like who the heck is what the other dude not even the Ben mathine the other dude this young man here Matas brazilis to me I know he can protect the rim I know that he can run the floor really well we know he can he can be a high flyer I think he comes in probably with the best jump shot out of anybody best jump shot form I should I should say out of anybody that AK has drafted so I think there is upside on his jump shot I think that realistically if you’re looking at somebody who um fits into what you’re trying to do right now this was the best pitch you could have made I saw most mocks looking at him now today he fell a little bit but coming into the draft most mocks had him going to Dallas or I’m sorry Dallas had him going to Detroit had him going to Memphis top top five 10 in most dicks in this draft the fact free did I freeze yeah the fact that you were able to get him at 11 I think that that’s huge for the Chicago Bulls did did we lose Hayes hay yeah for a second there I thought I lost you you were frozen on my side I’m like Pat got frozen there I finished my point yeah no I mean listen I love I love the draft pick of of Mattis buis and I you said for right now I’m I’m going upside as well like the Bulls need talent and the Bulls need somebody who can develop eventually into a star uh busis has a chance to do that I’m not saying he’s going to do that for sure but when you look at everything that he brings the ability to to to break down the defense pick and roll a decision making he can be a passer he can finish around the rim he already already has a nice float game on top of all of that but if he develops that three-point shot and develops his passing a little bit to become that point forward that people have had him pegged to be in this draft listen you have a modern day for power forward that or Ford because I think he’s going to play on the wing initially especially only being 195 pounds and being 68 that’s crazy got to put on some weight um but I like him a lot and he talked about it you know in that in that video before the draft saying that you know he’s compared this game to fron Wagner but I love also how he talked about Zachary Risha Sharon said he don’t want to see me he also has the dog in him I like that and that’s that’s you got him listed at what weight wise 197 see I saw him at 207 on uh on the G or 209 on the g-league website well this was from the draft combine and the numbers I’m looking at are from the draft combine okay maybe he lost a little bit of weight G League or maybe they were hyping him up in the g- league let’s not act like the NBA won’t do that they had him at a 6 fo1 209 pounds so he measured at at the draft com buying at 68.8 so basically 69 with a 610 wing span 197 pounds those are draft combine numbers uh I can see League Line what are we really talking about um I think what’s interesting here is though right like no matter what it is no matter right like we’re talking about inches we’re talking about I’m not gonna lie 195 to to from 209 that’s a big difference that’s a big difference there brother big difference like if if he’s measuring out at 195 that is uh that’s that’s more of an undersiz than I thought that he was because at 209 I felt confident about him um being able to play that that four to five spot if you needed him to because Chad hram is 207 but at 195 if that’s what they’re lised him at I’d love to see what the Bulls end up listing him at uh when the when uh training camp gets here or and media dance stuff like that because that’s a lot of weight that means you gotta add and did you lose that weight was that weight never there was it Phantom weight like what happened that they were measuring you out at 209 but I mean it could have been that he came into the g- league maybe a little heavier um and then he he refined his body as he was working there which he you know Dro some weight so yeah possibly but I I think here’s the one thing about him that that I do like is like you talk about the upside with him to me I think the fact that there is upside but there is next season capabilities on his game I’m looking at Billy D if Billy Donovan don’t play him it’s a CME oh yeah for sure like you cannot dalon Terry this you cannot and I’ll say you can’t Julian Phillips this we saw Julian Phillips last season start to get some minutes start to get some confidence and then all he disappears from the lineup then he comes back starts to get more minutes starts to get more confidence then he gets injured because of things like that to me you can’t pull guys out of lineup you’re you’re hurting their growth you’re taking away from them this is why I want to see the youth movement be a big part of what the Chicago Bulls are doing here because I don’t want there to be somebody like to me this is your starting four moving forward three not probably not a four I I could see I mean he’s he’s P will if he gains weight but I guess at 195 he’s not a for but if he can get back up to 200 plus like oh I mean long term he could be much like with with Giannis Right jannis jannis started at the two D started at a point guard like Yiannis coming in yeah I mean either way like like with the position NBA like it’s not much a small forward to start actually yeah he was yeah so so you know that that that could be like he starts off in one position after a couple of Seasons gain some weight adjust you know to what he needs to do defensively I can see him moving up um but I I I love this pick and the fact that he fell to the Bulls somebody who had talent and projections of going in the top five falls to the Chicago Bulls Bulls take him and uh I’m I’m I actually believed AK in the postseason uh well in the post-draft press conference where he said that uh he didn’t believe that uh he would be there and you know a lot of lot of people say that AK has said that a lot of times as well but this is one of the times that I do believe that when you look at all the mocks and how things were slated to go the last couple of months actually I don’t think that he may be surprised that madis modus fell to there at number 11 good pickup now we still got some other questions that we need to answer which we talk about here in the next segment we talk about what’s next for the Bulls that’s both with some players already on the roster what’s going on with the roster going forward but as far as this pick I really like it and I’ve seen some people be down on it and I get it I I know that you know looking looking at him looking at his physical makeup but I I also think that people don’t realize he’s deceptively athletic hey he’s not even deceptively athletic like I feel like we say that cuz he’s got a whiter skin tone no I say I say no I say that because just looking at him he doesn’t look like he jumped like that for real like dude got ups but you know what I mean like that’s that’s the that’s the old you know what I’m saying L marinin got sneaky hops no they’re not sneaky he’s seven feet tall he can jump out the gym and dunk on your head hey Alex Caruso got got lowkey bunnies no they they highkey he just got a little older you know what I mean Caruso used to be put onug head to PA but uh but no I just I I think that uh the one thing about his game that that 38 inch vertical for mtis busulis that’s athletic he’s 69 69 yeah 38 inch vertical that’s that’s crazy that’s not sneaky ABS that’s an athlete he’s he’s going to be somebody who to me the the biggest part that I do want to see if he’s right we got to figure out I guess the draft profile is probably the closest measurables we’re going to get but is there some kind of connection that you can build quickly between him and giddy because if you can find a way to get something working between them early on I think you could be attacking the bucket all day and actually make something that the Bulls struggled at a strength and that’s driving to the bucket and being consistent at The Rim Yeah and that’s a great point and that is something that we will pick up on in our next segment and which you talk about what’s next for the Chicago Bulls after this draft pick of Mattis boist but before we get into to see like a lot of bulls fans as well are excited seems like about this pick of course you have your your pessimistic Bulls fans that’s going to be with anything that the Bulls do until they start winning and people rightfully so have that have that right to have that stance it’s a loud minority though like did you do a it’s you know what it is it’s always a loud the minority is always loud where is the people that are cool like yeah it’s cool let’s see what it brings about but the people that like oh my God hey failed again how did we not get a center K khil we was right there Zack Ed went two spots like that’s that’s just is what it is I’ve done a poll on I did a poll right after the draft on Matas buis because the chat was going nuts like the chat was like this is the worst thing that we’ve ever done in our lives I was like I think this is a good pick and 79 to 21% I’m like oh okay so so you guys agree that this is a good pick okay you’re just you guys just aren’t the ones speaking did the same thing with Josh Giddy and it was the same results I was like does everyone hate this pick and then like I put that in it was like no most people loved it it’s just not the people who were commenting yeah this is what it is like you said it’s just the the the minority is real vocal yeah what do you think’s next for the Bulls rck what do you think this means for Demar Zack Patrick Williams the the fit there you already talked about could you could gidy and basilis develop some type of chemistry I actually think there is some really good chemistry that could be developed between those guys throwing white with that as well and you know we now added in in the last week a 21 year old point guard that has averaged at 1.66 and five in the NBA level and now we’ve added a young 19y old he be 20 by the start of the Season forward to this roster as well how you feeling Pat realistically you have to feel like you added two top 15 picks in the draft and to Me Maybe Josh giddy’s Fallen a little bit more than that but you added the number six overall pick from three years ago who I don’t know if anybody knows this but uh just a secret y’all Josh giddy can’t shoot you know what Oklahoma City did they made him the shooting guard it’s not going to back over point guard duties all of a sudden his skill at the basketball level returned oh my God how’s that happen realistically speaking in this draft you got two top 15 picks you worked you you did that by trading yes somebody in Alice cruso who I love but is a 30-year-old player for a 21y old player and you got a 19yearold player who is out of the g-league and and has already kind of gotten a little bit used to being able to play against close to NBA caliber talent I think that you made the best decision that you could based on the positions that your front office put themselves in I do agree they put themselves here I do agree that you missed some opportunities but if you told me that we missed most of the opportunities that we talked about and we would have two young players that actually look like future pieces moving forward along with a young player that took a major step forward in Kobe white I would tell you that somehow we just put together a core and it feels like we’ve been shooting ourselves in the foot the entire time that’s not a bad thing now let’s actually run with that core let’s let’s continue to move forward with what you’re building here don’t sit here and try and do this we’re going to peac meal this we’re going to go out here and we’re going to compete for a ninth seed and like if you’re competing for a ninth seed let it be because the young players on the team put you in a position to get a ninth seed otherwise what what experiment are you trying to run here what are you trying to make V happy are you trying to make Billy happy like what’s the game plan that you’re trying to put forth that you think is going to help these younger players develop by bringing back any of the pieces demard Ro and Zack LaVine who were already on the team yeah I mean it’s what we’ve been saying for a while now like I’d much rather at this stage that the Bulls are in be younger and if you are bet on those and give those guys huge roles if you do in up contending for a playing spot or not you know you got some young studs on this team if you don’t you get to keep your pick in 2025 am I saying that that’s the ideal Outlook no do I want to talk about another 28 to 32 win Bulls Team Hell No I don’t want to do that but if that’s what gets us in the long run where we need to be that’s something that you’re G to have to go through and so have you covered a bad Bulls team yet I mean yeah bro I’ve been covering the bull Team for three years we have like no no no no no uh bad Bulls te I’m talking about a Detroit Pistons level Bulls team I haven’t had to no I haven’t had to I mean I’ve been a fan of the Bulls my whole 37 years on this planet but like no I haven’t I luckily started my podcast right before the Bulls came out of that crap that you’ve been covering for the last six years so shout out to you bro hey when you gotta find the the bright spot in Antonio blakney and Walt lemon Jr that’s crazy I just remember somebody in my comments going he kind of remind me of Dereck Rose and I was like send me your address I got to punch you in your face like there’s no way you just said that oh I hope that we don’t have that coming next season brother I hope that you never have to experience that because I don’t two things one I don’t think it puts you in a great POS yes we get our our 25th over our 25th 2025 pick yeah but to me it demoralizes your team so much to a point that you stop seeing development from that young team at a certain point it it makes it hard to see the growth in the players a lot of times that’s facts that’s facts we’ll see man like overall I I I like the pick I like the direct I like the fact that it seems like we’re actually choosing a direction and we heard today that you know the Bulls and demard Rosen aren’t disc there will be no contract extension by the June 30th date dearta Rosen will be hitting unrestricted free agency uh doesn’t mean I mean that the Bulls can still can still negotiate with them after that fact but I think the writing’s on the raw people change has actually come to Chicago we were doubtful that it could come is it is it uh too much of a loss in your mind if you don’t if you just let him walk you don’t sign and trade you don’t do anything because I would think right we keep hearing about oh the Clippers want to want to take him on the the Lakers want to take him on but realily speaking if he goes there he gets nowhere near the money the Bulls can pay yeah I mean I think that there there are could be some teams that are incentivized to create a signning trade opportunity for him just to make sure cuz I mean theoretically they can get him regardless like if Paul George leaves the Clippers not to say that they’ll have money to pay him what we can pay him but they will have money to sound him outright but why not do a signing trade give them a little bit extra something like that so I think if the Bulls if if they let him walk for nothing to me it’s a it’s not an indictment on because you usually aren’t getting back a lot in signning trade anyway it’s more so to say you should have made that decision at the trade deadline where you could have got a first round pick for him that’s the biggest thing I know Bulls fans are going to be sky falling oh my God he signed for nothing we couldn’t even get a signing trade off well you unfortunately the Bulls are the only idiots who give up first round picks and signing trades typically you’re not getting first round picks and signing trade so but I think I think my thing is when when you see that he signed for nothing you have to keep in mind that a player who’s tired of a situation will sign for less for them before they signed for exactly what you wanted to offer for you that’s a fact that’s a fact especially if they if he really feels he can get that title on his way out of the NBA so I’ve heard Clippers a lot like at this point if you a player do you go to the Clippers just because you know they’ll give you the bag or do you really expect to get a championship out of them because I think we all know that they the Clippers have a roster that could contend for a title they just can’t stay healthy like the knes Bro BR listen at this point like I’m just all in on the curse I don’t know what it is but like there’s been a lot of good Clipper teams and none of them win yeah especially listen the Clippers can never win a title as long as this clip show is on too this crazy oh my God bro like say he said he said uh yeah we we take uh Matas buus uh he’s Lithuanian I didn’t plan that just worked out that way I was like like what what are you waiting on like then he looks like somebody’s supposed to say something just like they’re not asking questions yet that pause and look around like hey K what are you doing he he looks up from the paper look looks up looks around looks back down at the paper after he doesn’t get the response that he thought like why after four years on the job they have got this guy no media training like they need to put him with somebody here’s the thing here’s the thing maybe maybe it’s a perfect Ploy cuz to me I’m taking these as he’s swinging and missing on some jokes maybe he’s like if I just keep it monotone they won’t know it’s not it’s a joke flip over and it was a question mark on the other side on the backside it said this is the plan like wait a minute what is the plan like what’s the answers on this yeah yeah uh no man like I I’m G be real with you like this is this is ak’s as bad as the press conference was this is ak’s best day in a long time um yeah really is and best week in a long time best week in a long time and I gotta give him credit for how he is turned things around now I want to see how the coaching staff is actually going to utilize things and I really want to see is Billy Donovan like is this turning into a Matt eflu situation where you start looking around you’re like is Billy Donovan the head coach you’re like is he just the the encouraging mouthpiece at the front that a pause that might be a pause that
