DeMar DeRozan and the Bulls have come to a stall in their contract negotiations, per @ChrisBHaynes

Source (Chris Haynes via #thisleague UNCUT podcast)

Right now the priority for the Chicago Bulls is moving Zach LaVine. They are putting everything else on pause, including DeMar DeRozan's contract situation. I'm told there are no talks at this moment on an extension. I'm not saying that the Bulls are not going to take care of DeMar, but I am saying the order in which they are doing so leads to a lot of speculation.

At this point its just better for us to let him walk. Lets be honest, we arent winning anything anytime soon. Might as well let him walk or do a sign and trade for something at least lol. Oh well

  2. I never understood the sense behind getting rid of your best player;

The stall: the third year. I completely think the hard ball we’re playing is that we’re unwilling to pay him a 3 year contract, even with a player option year on the third year because he will obviously take it at 42M/yr or whatever we’re offering at 2 years.

It makes more sense to overpay for 2 years than it does for a “better deal” for three years. We gain a lot of freedom in 2 years, adding a third year fucks us up especially considering we are in a position to tank if DeMar does leave.

And TBH I’m with it. Do not give DeMar a 3 year deal. The bulls (and honestly, DeMar’s basketball career) will be better for it. The slight possibility we could S&T for *any* capital would just be icing on the cake.

  4. What could be more Bulls, trading Lavine at his lowest value, and resigning an old player who does not fit with Giddey at all. Fucking classic

    Yessss

I love Demar but, hopefully he puts the focus on winning and lets us rebuild

  6. Thanks for the memories, Demar, but it’s S&T time!

  7. No reason Vuc, Derozan, or Lavine should be on this team – IT DOESN’T WORK.

The teams winning in this league are the ones who pivot fast: Dallas (Porzingis), Boston (Smart), Knicks (OG / Bridges) on and on.

I really wish they would dump Vuc and Lonzo and maybe Lavine and keep Derozan and ACTUALLY build a team with potential. But I have no expectation for anything but disappointment every year.

I just think we should give Orlando more picks and the Timberwolves more all stars since that’s apparently the Bulls main strength.

  10. Probably waiting on what Paul George does. If pg goes to the warriors then I could see demar going to the clips

  11. I find it weird that they ostensibly have two decision makers in AK and Eversley but they still can’t do more than one thing at a time.

Good. Signing him makes no sense. Get your top ten pick

  13. Good, get him out of here. Great guy but he doesn’t move the needle towards winning and he doesn’t help us tank for that top 10 pick. Good riddance.

I SEE FOLKS DONT UNDERSTAND A COMPLETE OVERHAUL REBUILD TAKES AT LEAST 10 YEARS AT THE FASTEST TO START WINNING CONSISTENTLY

AK: We offer you more than anyone else can, whats the hang up?

    DeMar:  Ya’ll suck.

Which stall? Like a fruit stand? A sunglass hut?

  17. Why are we negotiating with him in the first place….
