BREAKING: Detroit Pistons DRAFT Ron Holland 5th Overall!

don’t no you tell me who it is when you see it oh okay yeah I’m behind you a little bit I don’t even see I’ve been sitting here waiting for to see Le’s pick is in which there is no pick there’s no some nobody literally uh they’re not going to save it by themselves but please who I just I I I’ve had to endure through my broadcasting career give us someone just a trash trash Pistons team please this has to be the start of something please the pick is in boys it’s in oh trade no trade oh gosh I do see pick is in now Tre Johan is calling someone please give us just give me a shooter this is getting intense boys give me a shooter I’ve got nothing over here don’t connect that’s what I’m hoping if it’s anybody hold on don’t boer’s looking across social media say names don’t [ __ ] with me man this is not the time I I’m come on boys here we go thought he was gonna say it no not yet I’ve got nothing yet come on boys please give us someone all I want just I want some optimism man I’ve been fighting this battle for too long I’m tired I’m tired I’ve been fighting this battle for too long Tran please I’ve got nothing over here yet I’ve got nothing over here yet Ron still there there still don’t look Jeff don’t look Jeff oh please Jeff’s looking he knows no no no I’m behind they haven’t it’s not close you’re farther ahead to me oh my gosh look at team needs number one thing three-point shooting yes don’t connect one of the best three-point Shooters Rob Dill 40 plus percent please just give us a shooter oh gosh this is nerve-wracking like I’m more nervous than the the Lion’s pick if I’m being honest this is like I mean this is way more what compared to like the pan draft where are you at mindset wise um similar SP that was that’s a good comp cuz that was like the tone Setter of the franchise he couldn’t mess that up come on give was the pick Jeff made it seem like you saw Jeff looks scarred right now I think Jeff Jeff’s oh I saw the pick through Jeff’s screen oh oh no all right we got we got a I think we got a dog I I will say this who is it say announce the pick announce the pick the pick is Ron Holland the second and I I I I want to give some background on this uh you got to stay with me though you gotta stick with me for a little bit here right just okay so Ron Holland was one the the best player coming out of his class in high school went to the G League uh what I think the best perimeter defender in the draft I think you could argue certainly U so he’s got a lot of you know we wanted OG for certain reasons this is what he is uh so value-wise you’re getting a very good player now here’s the kicker not the greatest shooter so that’s the other I’m I’m sorry I gotta throw that in there very good player like this to me guys I don’t I know you don’t want to hear it this is BPA to him to Tren for sure because he’s in terms of pedigree he had the best resume as a player obviously number one coming out five star all that he’s uh it’s a good pick but again for people that want fit he’s a wing but you know the shooting is something that people kind of do mention with with Ron Holland but that’s a basic summary of of the selection if I had to give it to you how much do you think this impacts the potential next head coaching decision do you think this is a guy that can more Sweeney or I know bargo’s been a name to mention but he’s also an offensive guy so it might not be as attractive considering this is who you really have to develop around given it’s a first round pick so okay okay this this it’s I don’t know I I’m curious like you play him and AAR together he can’t they both can’t really shoot so and they’re both athletic freaks so you’re getting athleticism but you’re you’re not getting the three-point shooting that you know we all desired initially I know like he’s not do connect he’s not any of these these players that can shoot the ball um does that disappoint you at all like to me it’s it’s like and I’m looking here at just at his his g-league stats he shot 24% from three and that was like yeah that was one of the biggest needs on this team is shooting it’s like you have guys like Kate C you have Jay iy who’s extremely athletic you have assar Thompson who just can’t shoot um is more athletic than than a shooter so like you essentially just drafted another player that does the same thing as the other guys you have on your team instead of going after someone you know that complement your your team correctly like like you said Jee it’s seems like a best player available he scored he averaged 20 plus per game um in in the g-league so it’s like I don’t know it’s an interesting pick to me because it seems like trear langon just kind of went hey we just want to get the best player that’s available in this draft we really don’t care about fit or anything but that seems to have been essentially what’s been going on with the Detroit Pistons the last four years so it it feels like it’s a similar situation to where you get a guy like you’re you’re trying to build a team that makes sense get Shooters complement your your star players complement these players and make an actual basketball team but you just keep drafting the same same style of player over and over and over I know Trey John’s new to this so he has nothing to do with the past but that’s what this feels like so I mean he’s he’s he’s a very athletic player he’s big size can defend like you said Jeff but at some point this team has to add shooting and this team has to add something to complement Kade Cunningham and some of these the these like you can’t have assar Thompson Ron Holland and and Kate Cunningham as your three guards that you know would you would it be fair to say this I you know and I’m not I’m just playing devil’s advocate here when Brad says this for the not comparing Brad to this but I’m but Brad’s philosophy what did he say he said the draft is for BPA for agency is fulfilling needs do you think Tran without familiarity with the roster quite yet he’s going okay I’m taking the best player available and then we’ll fix the shooting in for agency you think that’s that think’s if you’re if you’re comparing to Brad I think Brad does it but he also addresses best player available in team in positions where the team needs it I don’t think this is exactly position of need for the Pistons like to boer’s point they already have tons of these players yeah it’s like they they need wings but I get like assar is kind was kind of that like big athletic Wing uh can defend can’t really shoot you know that’s I get it like I I do and again they’re looking at the the Boston Celtics and you see what those two guys are doing wings and and you see what the Knicks just did Mikel Bridges OG anobi wings and they’re taking another Wing which you know I’m okay with it’s just the the part that you know he’s not the greatest shooter I mean on three attempts he shot what 20 a little over 20% what’ you say 27% 24% over three attempts a game so it’s not that he just he’s not shooting a lot he’s shooting over three threes a game and shoot 24% there there’s no there’s no like to me it’s the the again it’s I want someone who who who we know can shoot like there were so many players in this draft who could probably score at a clip like Ron Holland like Rob Dillingham and um even like like it’s great like Cody Williams and these guys obviously they didn’t like Cody Williams only averaged 12 or something in Colorado but these guys can shoot the Rock and then they can play at a high level as well def like you you can again the defensive side of the ball that’ll take care of itself to a like to an extent but to me it’s just more so I want to add players that complement the team that you have currently and to your point Jeff if he’s new if Trey John’s new and maybe he doesn’t know the team as well so he just went BPA I’m not like the only upside to me it’s it’s hey you do have a guy with a very high ceiling essentially and if he somehow does get a shot but you guys know how I feel about guys that shoot under 27% it’s yeah like like I just like go look at a shot it’s not the greatest looking shot either so it’s I don’t know if that’s something you can ever develop but you just have a a player that’s like the doc just put in there he said he gives it a b i I would give it maybe a C+ a c a C+ that’s what I would give this this draft uh this pick where do you think that like because you talk about first round picks you expect them to at least raise the ceiling they’re not raising the ceiling of a team they’re elevating the floor that was the whole thing with dton connect he can at least start and not maybe not start but contribute right away so where when you talk about a guy like Ron Holland where does he really help this franchise long term I think he helps them immediately defensively which I think we you know and I I trust me I’m I’m frustrated with with you know his ability not to shoot but I understand the pick because of the player he is um and what his background is his resume his pedigree like I understand that you know I think defensively he helps them immediately so there’s that um but man I I I’ll ask this again like how do you put out a lineup with assar and him on the floor together like you just you got really shoot um again great defensively that would be a that would be a terrifying two-wing look for opposing uh great offensive wings like I understand that but those two can’t really shoot Duren uh if he’s in your lineup he can’t shoot and then you have Ivy as your really your second bet your second best shooter after Kade like that’s it’s concerning you know but I don’t know that’s how where I’m at we have to hope that he develops a shot or AAR takes a significant jump or both of them preferably man you know what this makes me feel like guys it makes me feel like that Trey John’s looking to trade some pieces some younger guys that that that’s just because again to your point Jeff it’s can you play all all these same guys on the floor at the same time and um similar style of play with with really no shooting on the floor especially today’s NBA probably not so maybe it’s something to where TR J looked at this and he’s already assessed The Rock roster the last three or four weeks these are the guys we want to stay with these are the guys we want to move on with how do we replace and fill in those holes and that’s Ron Holland is filling in a hole that maybe he sees that he might want to get rid of and move on from so I’m not saying that’s a sar or or anything but maybe that’s like a a Jay nvy maybe he has some deals set up for to move on with a Jay Navy or move on with someone else or I know he has mentioned he wants to see how that works but maybe there’s there’s something behind the scenes that we’re looking at because like a Rob Dillingham like I’m I’m a little caught up on the Rob deal I that’s who I was kind of hoping yeah yeah and you know Saloon just went to the Hornets yeah and he’s he can shoot too like I he’s a he’s a big 68 guard kind of wing that that that has a shot as well so I’m gonna put a poll up uh probably draft do you think he drafted the worst shooter out of I’d imagine and the within the top 10 I don’t know how like sa and all those guys shoot given that they’re big men I don’t know but Ian I mean shooting what do you say 27% whatever it was 2 24 24 it’s just I mean you guys are way more DieHard piston fan than I am but it’s just aggravating to see like Boer you said right before the pick was in team needs number one three-point shooting and now I mean if you don’t go all in and get some at least serviceable knockdown consistent Shooters this team’s going to be in a very Sim similar situation to what it was last season as far as what they need to do what they need to accomplish because you can go and get the Joe harrises but they don’t [ __ ] work they don’t play now what could you imagine if the Spurs take Dillingham and they take two guards oh my gosh I wouldn’t be shocked or don’t connect organization I mean that’s what they do that would be I mean they could just say f it and do it um I mean he’s still on the board if you’re going BPA I mean he is he’s that oh yeah I I don’t know oh we’re going to do we’re gonna I’m gonna we’ll do a whole breakdown and and talk about it more tomorrow I I think Ron Holland as a player again I I get that tells me him taking Ron howand is BPA um not Factory in though the shooting which we talk about but I would I would assume that you know you’re taking Ron Allen because he’s the best player um available but he doesn’t really give a damn about the shooting thing which I I don’t know I think you it’s a whole another thing so for Cade for Cade’s for the sake of Cade you got to get some more shooting what do you think Cade’s doing right now what do you think kade’s doing well I’m because let’s say this like if they bring in Tobias Harris for like two years whatever a two-year deal they start him in assar and have Ron Hollen Off the Bench I mean maybe you can and then eventually Ron as he gets better you have to hope he can shoot I mean he can develop a shot that’s really what it comes down toas name

  1. Smh.. the whole "he's new" take shows how bad we are as a franchise. You'd expect someone to know the game. Im at the endnof my rope with this shiiiii

  2. If we’re being honest they took Holland based on potential upside being only 18 6’7-6’8 and extremely athletic. Even if they took dalton knnect it would barely move the needle they won 14 games last year . They aren’t competing for anything but a top pick in next years draft for years to come anyway regardless of who they took . So they took the player with the highest upside to pair with arguably the best shooting coach in the NBA . If we’re being honest the pistons aren’t a playoff team for years down the line even with a good head coach . We are in rebuild mode again.

  3. Remember when we went for fit rather than BPA in Kennard over Mitchell? Take the talent. Holland is young and can learn, we’re not the best at that but I still like taking talent and potential over a guy like Knecht

  4. "Can't shoot" does not mean "will never shoot". Let me tell you 'bout this kid named KCP that all the phoney Detroit fans loved to crucify.

  5. Ron Holland is a baller he's a 2-way player that can play defense and very athletic, welcome Ron Holland let's go..

  6. lol cmon now ya’ll this jus proves there are moves comin.. players we ain’t expect are about to leave and new players comin in (shooters).. I think this team bout to get shook up

  7. I'm sorry, but what I see is Stanley Johnson the 2nd in our pick.

Cade needs spacing and Holland does not provide that. The Pistons are too worried about filling the seats around the conference table, and not concerned enough with the team on the floor. I hope future moves will be with the TEAM in mind.

  8. Some dumb takes here. BPA all day everyday. You need stars to win in this league and Holland has the most star potential of any player on the board. Sort out the rest through trades and FA signings. Dalton knecht falls to 17 and Booner wanted him at 5…

  9. They don’t have a player like him. He’s a scoring small forward/ guard there’s a difference.. check his highlights not just his Google statistics 💯 But I wanted the guy from Tennessee js

  10. None of Crunch Time players went early lol they have to take the egg on this one lol😂😂😂😂😢😢😢 stick to football guys. Maybe next time

  11. Simply put…Ron holland is the best player in this draft. He is an absolute monster and has the potential to be the best player on an NBA team. Cade is that guy too but he appears to be a bit injury prone. He is only 18 and he will play in the NBA next year. He is a combination of Lebron James and Jaylen Brown. He gets knocked for his shooting but he has good form. He is just young, he will be able to shoot with NBA coaching and repetition. This was a great selection by the Pistons. The defense, size and athleticism of this team will keep them in games this year.

  12. The thing is shooting is not guaranteed they got best player available who can be a difference maker in the long run like Celtics

  13. Pistons need dogs on defense and offense not a bunch of laid back good guys, the biggest problem with the pistons is the mentality we need players with a fire 🔥 and a coach with sum fire 🔥 not a bunch of laid back players and coaches

  14. Yall are dumb lol he is the best player in the draft you guys dont see the vision you guys need to do your research on Fred Vinson lol you guys dont even do research on coaches pathetic ivey will get traded watch

  15. Now, the Pistons have 2 OG-type players (wing athletic defender), which will be valuable in the future if the shooting is fixed. Wing defenders will always be helpful.

  16. Lol people still think this the same regime is wild.

Ausar & Holland locking up JB & JT in 2026 and will be able to knock down spot up 3’s

Fred Vinson is REALLY HIM and this’ll be light work. Rob has the right mentality& physical tools to make this work.

Dalton knect and all his shooting wasn’t gonna move the needle for us. And Holland is 5 years younger

Sorry we couldn’t finesse Derrick white for josh Richardson & Porzingis for Marcus smart

  17. This is why they will bring in Berrego who is the "3pt whisperer" to be the HC…if he csn help these guys develop a shot maybe this could all work. We needed a coach to develop these young guys ..monty wasnt like that. Monty was ready for a championship team. Idk you got to have faith 😂😂😂😢

  18. Why take players that complement a team that won 14 games? Tear it all down and start over. Hopefully he is the DAWG we have been looking for. BPA!

  19. I said it in the video and I’ll say to here. Trajan Langdon went BPA and shooting will be addressed in free agency!

  20. You guys gotta remember New GM and No Coach so that means our New GM is oblivious to our team needs and don’t have our Coach who we told to go home laying down and collect 65 mil for free in the draft room with him telling him what we need langdon only had soo much time to really scout these guys this entire draft is weak so he went BPA for a building possibly Rebuilding team

  21. nobody should be drafting a rookie to save your team unless it’s Lebron or Wemby. Draft to develop, FA to improve your roster. that’s how it should be. we been drafting good, but have not been developing in house talent. let’s hope the front office can fix this.

  22. You know Jimmy Butler was great shooter when the Bulls drafted him. He's 19, give the kid a break. Can't nothing be worse than the Killian Hayes pick

  23. There was only 2 good shooters in this draft. Reed Sheppard and sheierman who was taken at 30. Literally every other player has huge question marks in shooting. Especially at the wing/forward. Holland by far most upside athletically and he was a really good scorer in general. He is also a big wing, which we need really badly. Then saying Salaun can shoot when he's only 32% is crazy.
