Tatum and it’s brown in at the small forward position and for Dallas they’ve got Daniel Gafford Kyrie Irving is out there with donic then there’s Derek Jones and it’s Washington in at the four a lot of focus on the guard matchup tonight greak both these teams rely on their back courts to lead the way for him and if anything it should make for an entertaining basketball game and it becomes a little bit of a chess match when it’s a backourt duel those are always fun there’s brown with the three the Celtics keep it going a new 14se second shot clock Irving against hel this one for three it’s rebounded by porzingis and it’s porzingis with the ball he’ll bring it up for the Boston Celtics here’s holiday Boston again [Applause] missing it’s Washington High post Gafford uses the glass to finish the layup you’re setting the tone with an aggressive move to the rag and and where’s the help defensively to meet that’s a complete lack of communication on that side of the the ball these guys need to be talking to each other up two there a really smart player holiday can find the spaces inside and exploit them for points now here’s donic pass to Irving taken away by holiday the finish and it’s slammed in by holiday well if you don’t take care of the ball fellas that’s what can happen absolutely GRE that makes the turnover even more painful at the end of the day though it’s two points Washington for Dallas they’ve gone one of three from the field to start this one so far Jones against Brown and a lot of contact on that one so he’ll shoot two here first personal foul first dting stands out about this Celtics unit their defensive abilities they’ve got a lot of skill on that end of the floor and the second free throw good you’re right defense it’s been terrific for him this Boston team G certainly has a talent for holding back their opponent’s shots and really defending well and Kevin they put a lot of energy into pressuring Shooters making sure guys can’t find easy free throw is good what impresses me about Jason Tatum are his work habits his commitment in the off season to adding something else to his arsenal we know he can play highlevel basketball on both ends the sky is the [Applause] limit no good on the second so he hits one to two Mavericks have gone one to three for the field to start this one so far Jones kicks to Gafford holiday against donic [Music] six on the shot clock and they pick up two what a finish by LCA donic don’t underestimate his strength but Don has got that in his game and the latest now from our sideline reporter David Aldridge David it’s all yours take it away well I was able to talk with Coach Jason kid his big point of emphasis was that they have to be smarter at the offensive end he thought both of the losses were due to poor decision making missing the open man getting baited into taking bad shots he feels at their best they have to have high percentage scoring opportunities and finish strong Kevin thanks for the report da looking to get into a rhythm early grade with their shooting and I think to get into a good flow you need to get everyone involved even if it’s as a facilitator well I think that’s where knowing where your teammates are on the floor at all times is critical and then being willing to give them the ball at the appropriate time and I like to see this they’re calling his number early and he’s delivering they know that if this guy goes off their chances of winning rise exponentially now here’s Jones after The Miz from Derek white and this sort of awesome dunk is one of the reasons this team is in charge of this game well there’s a Swagger out there you can see it on the court that they possess and are not afraid to show it either and Jones sends it back and it’s out of empty down low and so it’s porzingis he’ll bring it up for the Celtics trailing by four holiday gets the bucket I tell you what it’s it’s almost like stealing to watch how he plays the game from this seat here’s donic after Drew holiday score donic kicks to Jones off Target from outside Boston’s gone 0 three from three-point land nothing yet going outside now brown he’s been patient so far nothing on the scoreboard yet shoots over donic and it’s brown missing nothing seems to be going his way this quarter well not at the offensive end certainly he cannot buy a bucket right now and those are the kind of nice inside looks they’ve gotten here in the first half tum against Washington and that’ll be two free throws coming up officials on the call with the foul the best offensive players in the league get to the free throw line consistently this is where you’re starting to see growth from Jason Tatum wanting contact inviting the [Applause] contact that free throw no good well probably a little draft in the arena tonight he’s the last guy you expect to miss the mark by that one absolutely he hits the second from the line Mavericks leading by three here’s donic and he gets the whistle two free throws coming up we are talking about a clever scorer LCA donic has developed such a knack for getting to the free throw line the Mavericks dting their third and fourth free throw attempts of the game take a break take a break two shots that free throw good from donic what you love about Luca donic is he this unique combination of size and skill he could really play cross positionally he makes shots at all three levels so dangerous and he can’t hit the second Celtics trailed by four here’s Tatum yes and it’s holiday with the assist that time Tatum’s got six points well Jason Tatum has worked hard to fill out his spring it’s not going to bother him that you’re bringing a level of physicality they grab their own Miss and it’s Washington missing Austin’s gone 0 three from three-point L nothing yet going outside donic with the steel outside Irving to the middle Bic outside come deep the shot no good so the Celtics will take it the other way Tatum kicks to Holiday passes to BR the shot goes down and gets this game back to even well this is what they love seeing from Jaylen Brown the aggressiveness down near the cup this guy’s attitude tremendous [Applause] pass to [Applause] the activity he shows around the rim is why he is such a respected Defender and what you love about his work defensively the ability to challenge and change shots without fouling donic against Brown wise well look at the turnover ratio then look at the score easy to see what happened in that first period offensively they took care of the ball and defensively they forced a number of miscues and shots to drop here in the second quarter oh and the dunk by Jones well not exactly one of those big Burly power forwards right he depends on his leaping ability more than those guys and it serves him just fine Brown dishes Dwight back to Brown launches it here’s porzingis and terrific work on the offensive glass and he picks up two porzingis has got his first basket well you love the physicality by porzingis mix it up off the backwards KP pass to kba now Jones Some solid defense from Brown and the foul on Daniel Gaffrey second personal foul that’s foul number two for [Applause] himou and it’s porzingis with the ball he’ll bring it up for the Celtics three-point lead and white kicks to Holliday and there’s the pass to pingis at three Off the Mark for Dallas they’ve gone four of seven from the field in this second quarter so far here’s xum he takes it in and that one clearly a foul gets the whistle and two shots coming up and with the offense getting right to the rim at least they saved the layup now their then seven free throws in the game two shots take a break take a break two [Music] shot the first one Falls exom hits him both quarter number two around three minutes gone by pass to Horford he kicks to Holiday the shots good on the this by Horford holiday’s got 11 able to absorb contact holiday is not someone that is prone to lose focus on these tough Takes Dallas calls dropping out there for them Horford tried to free himself up and Drew holiday a bucket on the assist by Brown 13 points in the game too bad you don’t get points for degree of difficulty holiday showing how to handle some tight interior defense exen passes to Gafford kicks it to Irving no good that time so the Celtics will take it the other way here’s holiday and the rebound goes to the Mavericks Irving’s got four rebounds now tonight Gafford trying to break free that’s in and the Celtic lead is cut down to just one on the basket from Irving boy has a man in his Grill and it doesn’t bother Kyrie Irving at all he performs under duress consistently porzingis against klea Horford trying to free himself up cross contact on the shot and now a three-point Play Chance as he’ll head to the line Second personal foul guys how about that body control from por you think it’s easy at 7 fo three to gut your way through that kind of contact that’s nice the Celtics have gone five of eight from the charity stripe here tonight and up around 82% as a team a season ago so they know how to make the most of those [Applause] opportunities I think what really pops about Christa poring is this 7 foot three yes but it’s the sweet shooting stroke and the Deep range but let’s not forget when this guy came in the leag he was an Absol absolute Force as a shot blocker Celtics leading by four on there so the Celtics called timeout they’re first good timing they’re really struggling offensively sometimes it just feels like misses become contagious he wants to settle his guys down right now Boston making a switch here Richard passes to Horford shoots and misses it off the right side of the rim the Mavericks have gone eight of 16 from the field in the second quarter a nice efficient 50% Washington that’s for two rebounded by how Boston Laden by four pass to Pritcher over axom Boston again missing and for the Mavericks they’re shooting 47% from the floor since the end of the first perimeter he dnamic inside score his strength is savv tough to keep the defense on balance first free throw is good boy when you think of Kyrie Irving hard not to believe he has got perhaps the best take on the hustle stats for the MS they’ve been active defensively rotating well and and then also closing out on shots it’s resulted in a number of blocks and their fast break has also been a key metric in this one they have had a significant advantage in transition over the course of this game that free throw good from Washington he doesn’t get the second one and here’s Brown they’ll bring it up for the Boston Celtics and brown throws it down hard well this is where having a tighter handle helps Jaylen Brown in pick and roll play just gets to his spot and scores it here’s Irving he’s off have to like what you’re seeing from L yeah I think they’ve got to be talking about just guarding him a little more tightly on the perimeter or keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible fourth quarter guys your thoughts trying to stay alive they’ve got to work quickly this is the very definition of desperation mode right now they need a quick shot and a quick foul 20 seconds left in
