No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr talks NBA future in DC, his love for his brother & more | SC with SVP

we are joined now by the number two pick in the 2024 NBA draft it’s Alex SAR Alex hey it’s Scott velt sports center here in DC we our studio is about a mile away from your new home and I’m going to get to the Wizards in a minute but I want to start with the emotion of the night folks that have watched this show know that I’m not afraid to cry hell I cried on this show last night when you were talking to Monica mcnut it was clear the emotion hit you and when it did what was the reality that that landed with you that that moved you to tears I thought it was beautiful yeah I mean you know I just thought back to uh all the moments I shared with my brother and uh got a little emotional for a story you know cuz uh it’s such a big achievement and uh you know I’m really happy right now that’s fantastic you mentioned your brother he’s a little older and has been on a similar path how much does it help to have a family member who can tell you so many things to anticipate that you’re now going through I mean he helps a lot you know having a brother that already plays in the NBA like he kind of likes he kind of acts like he I’m an NBA player you know cuz he just tells me so much and uh you know I’m learning so much through him in terms of what you feel like you can bring now and what you feel like you can bring in time it it’s a it’s a maturing process in the NBA right I who you will be in a few years maybe isn’t who you are now what’s your sense Al of the kind of progression you’re hoping to make in time here in Washington I mean you know I’m trying to improve all around you know I’m trying to improve in my game and everything I do I don’t think there’s a single thing that I’m you know like perfect that I think I can get better at a lot of different things so uh but I know that from day one I can bring a lot of Versatility and a lot of defensive versatility too right is that what do you if I what do you know about Washington right now I mean because we could we we can hook you up I got you hard wide you need a realtor we got you we can take care of you here uh cuz as I say we’re a mile away from where you’re going to be playing but what’s your first thought about playing in the nation’s capital I mean I don’t know much about DC but I know a lot about the Wizards and uh I know they play really fast uh you know it’s a young team and I can’t wait to join them well the nation’s capital awaits Alex I know you’ve been talking basically non-stop since your name was called and I’m certain that you’d like to get with your family and your folks and enjoy this evening so go do that congratulations and all the best here in Washington okay yes sir thank you [Music] [Applause]

  1. Hawks expected to be in playoff mix so Sarr's performance would be under daily scrutiny. With the Wizards he evades any expectations for a couple seasons. Didnt even show 4 a workout with the Hawks. Str8 punk mentality

  2. Guys, please be smart and don’t be dumb. It is very common during the draft to call the first player for a team the number one pick. Even if they are not the number one overall pick, they are still a number one pick because they were drafted in the first round and were the first player the team that drafted them took.
