Kendrick Perkins thinks Daryl Morey & the 76ers are ON THE CLOCK ⏰ | First Take

welcome back to First Take OG anobi is staying in New York sources tell our Ain ro ro rowski that the free agent Ford intends to sign a 5-year $212 million contract to return to the Knicks the deal includes a player option and a trade kicker this of course is good news for New York especially after acquiring Mel Bridges so the Big Apple got even sweeter following that acquisition of bridges and the signing of anobi as the New York are now tied with Denver and OKC for the second shortest odds to win next season’s title on ESPN bet the Celtics remain heavy favorites to repeat all right legs is back with us as well as Kendrick Perkins Tim I’m G to start with you yeah who do you think uh is the team under the most pressure after the Knicks move clearly Philly they’ve got a blank page they’ve got a blank page look at right now what Philadelphia’s salary compos look like going into next season you know who they got right now they got Joel embiid locked up uh obviously they’re going to resign Tyrese Max to a max deal and Ricky Council that’s it folks that’s all they got so they’ve got a blank page they’ve got I think for me undoubtedly the single most dominant scoring force in the league in Joel embiid a guy next to him that went from potential star to emerging star to just star in Tyrese Maxi um you got a coach in there now that everybody regards as one of the brightest Minds in the game you’ve got a lot of flexibility here in what you want to do with your money where you’re going to spend it and Paul George is a name that keeps coming up and look I know there’s some things about Paul George that I have question marks about as well but you look at a guy like that and look if he doesn’t want to come you you can’t make a guy want to be in a city and want to play in a certain place so that goes to mindset I don’t know but they’ve got an opportunity right now with with financial flexibility that they have not had in a very long time they’re finally out from Tobias Harris’s contract which everybody city’s been complaining about for the last three years they’re out from under that you’ve got an opportunity with these two guys at the top of your roster and that level of talent to go out and add the pieces it takes to be able to get into that mix with a team like New York and Boston near the top of the Eastern Conference and for me it’s Philadelphia clearly go ahead perk I’m with legs I’m with legs on this D Mo you are on the clock especially when you’re talking about Joel embiid and his his injury history right like you got to maximize this you got to make sure you put the necessary pieces around him to contend I understand you right you have the Milwaukee Bucks out there but they won a championship in the last five years the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t been to the Eastern Conference Finals since Moby Dick was a goldfish and I don’t know how long this been I thought you going to say guppy okay but what I’m saying oh T either way here’s the thing right when you have Joel and be and he’s performing at the level that he’s been performing at the past two years one could argue that if he wouldn’t have got injured he would have won his second MVP he was on the verge of leading the league and scoring again again you got Tyrese Maxi a rising young star on the verge of being a superstar I don’t think they have to go big I don’t have I don’t think that they have to do a big three type deal I think you do a two for one right like you try to go out there you try to get a you try to go steal a cwell PO from Denver right you bring back Kelly UB I thought he was phenomenal what he brought to the table you bring back Nicholas baton he’s the ultimate role player and then you try to go out and you try to go get a guy like miles Bridges from The Hornet right and then now all of a sudden you go and you say let the chips fall where they made because at first I was kind of like adding the PG to the table or make Jimmy Butler but you don’t want to take away from the growth of Tyrese Maxi and what he showed against the New York Knicks although they lost he showed that he’s capable of performing on the big stage and doing big things but then on top of that if you don’t get it done who’s to say Joel embiid is committed to Philly long term right you didn’t lost Ben Simmons when you didn’t lost James Harden like you got to get it right you got to put the pieces around Joel andb he’s been loyal He’s been Faithful he’s he’s had the team back Daryl Moore is on the clock I agreed with everything you said but the Jimmy Butler part I would tell you if the Philadelphia 76ers had an opportunity to get Jimmy Butler you damn sure should because Joel andb loves that brother and if there’s one reason why Joel andb would want to stay in Philadelphia it would be Jimmy Butler he never wanted to lose Jimmy Butler to begin with so we have to pay attention to that [Music] he

On First Take, Stephen A. Smith, Kendrick Perkins and Tim Legler dissect just how much pressure is on the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference after the New York Knicks’ slew of big moves.

  1. Morey destroyed this team and the chance at truly contending. While Morey sat on his a$$ the rest of the east was getting it done and stronger.

  2. If Jimmy Butler loved Embiid, he would've not said he wanted to stay in Miami. Jimmy don't want to play second fiddle to Embiid, nor does he need Embiid to get to the finals he already proved that he don't. Jimmy wants his team like he has in Miami, not a team where he has to take the backseat.

  3. Legler was about to slip up and say “you can’t make a man want to…. [come]” 😂😂😂😂

  4. Knicks as second fav to win the title is hilarious I wish there was a way to bet that the knicks would not win it so I can put all my money there

  5. Hey man, with the NBA offseason running, can we make the definitive trade between Molly and Christine?

  6. Single most dominant scoring force??? Ahhh mmm there’s a guy down in Denver who would have somethin to say

  7. Sixers need to trade Joel before he's none tradable. I would restart the Franchise and not lie to myself thinking Embid is going to become more physically fit and less injury prone. Let's be real. He's never even been to a finals, let's stop the positive thinking and face reality !

  8. The Sixers are by far the worst run franchise in NBA history!

Seriously… There was a time where they drafted a Center with their first pick 3 straight years during a rebuild.

They signed Tobias Harris over Jimmy Butler when Jimmy Butler was clearly the go-to guy in the playoffs where they eventually lost the Toronto.

    There Let "TJ McConnell" walk….

They blow up a very young promising team after losing a playoffs series against a stacked Celtics team with KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.

    That Sixers team:
    Andre Iguodala
    Jrue Holiday
    Lou Williams
    Evan Turner
    Thaddeus Young

And don't get me started with that Markelle Fultz draft pick…..

  9. Embiid has proven that he isn't reliable health wise. I don't know what the Sixers can do other than build around Maxey.

  10. Why do "certain communities" always favor and idolize criminals..Big Fat Perk talking bout how the 76'rs should get Miles Bridges 😂😂😂😂 the baby mamma slapper who messed up a $178,000,000 contract by😂 commiting this atrocity the eve of contract signing?? Y'all need to stop
