Sacramento Kings trade Davion Mitchell & Sasha Vezenkov to the Toronto Raptors
[Music] wow wow wow Monty says hold on not so fast too many guards let me cook let me cook one time Davon Mitchell Sasha venkov headed to the 666 huge trade or Chris maybe I don’t know about huge but the beginning of trade season for the Sacramento Kings as they send Davon Mitchell ins zenov to Toronto for jayen McDaniels older brother of jadden McDaniels by the way we’re 30 minutes away from the California classic summer league ticket giveaway family four pack of three-day passes 916 339 1140 how are you feeling Sacramento Kings fans you just got Devin Carter now you just got Jaylin McDaniels you say goodbye to Sasha venkov you say goodbye to Davon Mitchell that Guard log Jam is starting to loosen up a little bit Chris Watkins what you got for us I don’t get this I I don’t the kings are also sending the 45th pick as as a part of this trade as well so it’s so today no r no picks no no CH yes there is no picks today unfortunately uh and again I just I kind of just I need I I I’m almost waiting for another another piece here because I I I’m not seeing really uh value-wise I’m just really surprised that because Jaden Jaylen McDaniels did not have a good season last year year it felt like he was pretty much on the outs in Toronto anyway and I I understand uh it should definitely be noted here that the kings are are freeing up I think six I’m seeing anywhere from six and a half to eight million in cap space with this move and potentially that that could just be uh to now be uh more of a have more access to your mid-level exception we talked about after they signed Malik that mid-level exception went from 12.9 million all the way down to 5.4 or 5 five something around that range maybe I’ll have to look into the specifics of where this puts the king’s cap but maybe this move was done so that they could have that full mid-level exception or possibly maybe it’s being done so that they could absorb that salary in a potential trade here uh definitely a move that is the move before the move it feels like yeah I was telling you in during the break the one thing about this trade that is very very evident the king still have all reliable they still have that Toyota Corolla package ready to go uh I think that there’s still another move to be made I think one of Kevin herder or Harrison Barnes is probably going to be shipped off if not both of them uh and I I just feel like there’s something else to come because honestly Allan in in a vacuum I I don’t I don’t think this trade makes a ton of sense positionally I think Davon is still a you know he’s a contributor to a playoff team we saw him guard Steph Curry in the in the uh playoffs last year he also did like you said he played really well down the stretch last year I thought there would be some value uh just solely on him a team could say hey the Raptors can potentially if they like what they see from Davon they can get four or five more years out of him Sasha venkov is still I believe has two year one or two years left on his contract we don’t really know the ceiling for him jayen McDaniels averaged three points per game last year and is a good Defender but he did not fit in on one of the worst teams in the league I’m and the Kings throw in the 45th pick I’m just trying to find the value here or if this was really just kind of viewed as a salary dump and for whatever reason they throw in 45 I don’t know I’m just a little bit confused as to how this this makes a lot of sense maybe when Brendan walks in at one o’clock we can ask him about it if he has maybe a better better Viewpoint because I I I kind of am having a tough time understanding the uh the the incentives here for from the King side only played 50 games last season shot 16% from three and averaged a little under 11 minutes a game when he did play this is from our own Carl Michael Dave Davon and Sasha make just over1 million combined McDaniels is on an expiring making 4.7 King save about $6 million in the deal possibly clearing room for something else strong case this is part of a bigger picture picture I’m still with you though all right this this this dude played 50 games under 11 minutes a game you had to give up Davon yeah Sasha and the second round pick when he himself was a second round pick I don’t I don’t really understand that and this goes back to what I mentioned when this happened Chris that Log Jam did and I and I didn’t even think it would be this bad no disrespect to J mdel but oh did daveon lose value because the league knows you have to get rid of him I I don’t even know if it’s that though this seems extreme this seems extreme yeah I I really want to get some answers on this because it it just I I I and again I have no I think Jaylen McDaniels again this is this is the exact kind of player that I want it’s a long rangey Wing who is very defensive minded It’s A upswing or a you know it’s a it’s a potential really really big addition um for for this team that frankly doesn’t have anyone who fits that profile but uh yeah I just kind of thought that Davon could be a really good sweetener in a trade I thought also Sasha would have a little bit of independent value on himself maybe this is more just a sign that the kings are really really high on Jaylen McDaniels and willing to to try and figure it out in a winning situation because I am looking at his situations and he hasn’t been in great ones I mean he was in Charlotte for the first three years of his career uh and then ended up going to Philadelphia and only playing about 24 games with them uh the previous season to this one and then this year playing uh barely for the Toronto Raptors I it’s it’s just really really interesting and yeah I think uh I think I’m going to need some explanation here before I’m super Juiced about the actual package that they sent off um to me again it it just feels like the Kings uh gave up a lot for a guy who probably would have I would have assumed could have been gotten with a couple second round picks instead of players in general somebody on the from the 530 on the text line is saying are we getting the 31st pick also not according to not that we have seen yet I know are tricking seven minutes ago Chris W says the deal gets the Kings under the luxury tax and opens up a roster spot okay yeah and if you’re just now joining us Sacramento Kings are trading Davon Mitchell and Sasha venkov to the Toronto Raptors and for Jaylen McDaniels they’re also trading their pick today by the way Chris W never said that pick not on Twitter really yeah uh and I’m ref I’m okay he he said yeah he did six minutes ago the keep refreshing he quote retweeted his okay his initial one and said the kings are sending the 45th pick in Thursday’s draft as a part of the trade Jaylen McDaniels is coming to Sacramento and going to Toronto Davon Mitchell Sasha venkov and today’s 45th pick in the 20124 NBA draft yeah and I was telling you I was just during the break reading an article about what really went went wrong with Jaden Jaylen I’m gonna I’m GNA do that all year I’m I’m already anticipating it and we so we get rid of Donovan Davon Mitchel and now I have to deal with Jaden jayen McDaniels uh so this is this is the write up uh this is from fansided which is Sports Illustrated uh you know in they’re doing every single team has uh dedicated writers and this is from their uh Raptor writer here McDaniels began the season in the RO began the season in the rotation for Toronto but it wasn’t long before the rafters realized that wasn’t going to work since the 69 forward has squandered every opportunity to show he can be a regular contributor for the Raptors in his latest outing Sunday night against the Washington Wizards he was a minus 10 and four minutes uh while shooting 0 of three from the field in the first half it was uh stap to the bench after the break uh they had positivity that the thing that the situation could turn around uh McDaniels has another year guaranteed on his contract and publicly at least the organization isn’t willing to say it’s over the hope uh is said uh to have McDaniels training with the team and working to tap in on some of that defensive potential the organization hopes he still has if Toronto does move on for McDaniels he’ll count as $4.7 million against the salary cap next season Assuming he’s not traded so it seems to me like things just never really got off uh the the runway with Jaylen McDaniels last season the 26-year-old is long athletic with physical traits uh to be the kind of three and D Wing the Raptors have loved in the past certainly helped seeing his brother develop into one of the leagues Premier Wing Stoppers in jaylen’s 40% J jaylen’s 40% three-point stroke over the final 24 games of last season suggested maybe that there was more of that to his game to put it mildly it hasn’t gone as planned you said he shot 40% from three in the last 20 games so I’m going to look at that that sounds like how he ended his uh his Philadelphia Sixers uh tenure is is how I would guess um because I do remember he That season and if I’m remembering correctly I believe I just said he was traded halfway through that season uh from Charlotte to Philadelphia I remember there being a decent amount of hype around Jaylen and uh yeah I mean he he played a good stretch of of their final games there I’m just going to look at their last 10 games of the season uh in 20 no I mean I maybe it was for the Raptors because the the stretch I’m looking at here was was not good and maybe maybe the rder Jaden instead but this that’s what I don’t understand because if this is a play like low value diamond in the rough you don’t have to give that up for for a diamond in the rough yeah you don’t have to give up Sasha and and Davon and like you said and and like Carmichael Dave said move before the move you get on the luxury tax yeah you get a open R Spot this man shot got 16% from three last season 16% and that’s that’s not a rare occurrence for him either I’m looking at yeah his splits he was 16% in the month of April he was 20% in the month of February 177% in the month of December it was not just that he he he could not get it started the entire season and uh you know I think that’s it’s it’s a bit concerning especially when you look at his brother’s game you know his brother has developed that three-point shot to a decent level yeah and that’s what’s made him so spectacular right to be fair that is way lower than his average throughout his career I mean before that it was 40% with the Sixers 32% with Charlotte so he’s not normally that it was just a bad season but I get it if his value was low if his value is low why do you have to give that up all right we got to get to it we’re getting the Dame Lillard from Simone coming up next we continue the conversation 15 minutes away from giving away the family four pack to the California classic summer league 916 339 1140 how are you feeling about the king

TRADE!!!
Weird trade. Included TWO 2nd rounders. Better be clearing cap for something bigger.
J McDaniels was horrible last year
Also Portland’s 2025 2nd round pick.
We got the wrong McDaniels. PG13?
With the kings being under the cap they can now trade
Barnes and huerter 34.8 contract for a 40+ mil contract
Salary dump. Had too many guards as well.
Monte trade sucks again Jalen will be like daute of this year we lost another trade
Vezekov wanted this, Sacramento is an ill team with a bad coach
Knowledgeable,probably not.Casual fans with mics
Barnes is a cornerstone… id hate to see him go
Open roster spot for Kusma
McDaniels will never wear a Kings jersey. Monte is shuffling for $$ and slots to be competive for a trade or FA move yet to come. Monte and staff have been close on a few moves. They know where things have fallen off in trade talks. Need to take it in the shorts to do some house cleaning and make a meaningful move or two.
I dont get this, We shouldnt of given ip that 2nd rounder. Cam spencer or tristen newton in sac would of been perfect
Kings did better
Blazers did bad trade
Blazers did bad trade blazers trade second pick
Kings might get batum from sixers maybe
Lol who are these guys that are on Sactown sports ? They act like this is the only trade that the Kings are going to do. Firstly, Davion fell out of rotation and Sasha didn’t want to be here. The 45 pick will be nothing … What’s the problem here? 🤷🏻♂️
Terrible trade
