Charlotte Hornets Draft KJ Simpson, Trade for Reggie Jackson, What’s Next???

what’s up and welcome to the Sam Dracula Channel my name is Sam I’m a Hornets fan and the second day of the draft is still going on bronny just got drafted by the Lakers as I’m recording this just to give you an idea because I think the Hornets are done I think we’ll get some news about a trade they made just a little bit ago with Reggie Jackson I’m going to talk about that in this video in a bit but let’s just I want to keep it draft focused and I think the Hornets are done with selections if at some point they make a deal and get back into the second round I’ll add my reaction to the to this video later if if they don’t we’re not we’re moving on we just going to move on as is so if you missed it late last night I made a video reacting to the Hornets sixth overall draft selection Tan Salon I’ve heard I’m going with Salon I’ve seen a lot of different ways to say his last name until he says it himself I assume he’ll be introduced tomorrow um I’m going I’m rocking with Salon all right right my opinion on him has not changed so if you want to hear how I feel about the selection go check out that video it’s the most recent one on the channel I’ll try to link it here or it’ll be at the end screen but second round pick KJ Simpson love it love it love it love it I thought KJ Simpson was the star of that Colorado team and I think that’s saying a lot considering they had two firstr draft picks including a five-star prospect on that team when Cody Williams watching Colorado in the Pack 12 tournament and in the NCAA tournament KJ jumps off the screen hearing and reading what Colorado fans have to say about KJ Simpson all year long he’s been that dude right 19 points a game 4.9 assists 1.6 steals almost six rebounds a game shooting 43% from three uh just under 50% on twos this KJ is a a good player like whether he’s on the ball or off the ball I think he’s a threat offensively I don’t know how he’ll Stack Up defensively in the NBA but I think he can contribute day one unlike Salon who’s very much a project KJ Simpson as an older player as a more seasoned college player right in comparison I think KJ can find himself contributing this season he may spend some time in Greensboro but I think you know he’ll be part of the rotation this year for the Hornets and I think he’ll definitely have a really nice summer league we’ve seen how terrible the guard play uh has been in uh in the summer league for the Hornets the last few years KJ uh operating the guard roll uh the playmaking role for the summer league basketball is going to be something special I think a really good opportunity for him to really catch Charles Lee’s attention um when he has that stage when he has that opportunity I only watch Colorado to watch Cody Williams Because you know scouting and considering where the Hornets were potentially going to be drafting Cody Cody was going to be very much in play for the Hornets and we saw that played out right they took Salon whatever it’s fine everything’s fine but you know you tune in hoping to see Cody Williams and this KJ kid is doing the most especially against Florida right you saw his game winner against Florida legitimately I think KJ Simpson is more NBA ready than most of the first round draft picks we saw last last night and to get him in the second round I don’t know if he’ll be a two-way guy or a full-time guy more on that in a second cuz it’s getting a little crowded right um so the Horn’s going to have to figure that out but KJ as a contributor I think is going to be incredible for what he is for a second round pick I’m not saying he’s going to start or anything like that but as a rotation guy as an offensive minded guy as man it’s a very good pick I give it a a like a really solid a moving on from KJ Simpson let’s talk about Reggie Jackson coming to Charlotte he’s never going to play here all right just let tell you that off off rip here someone said this earlier Hornets get a vet with championship experience with all due respect for Franklin this guy is not playing in Charlotte they did this already we’ve seen the story before they traded for him waved him he went to Denver this is is a pure salary dump okay I if you’re excited about Reggie Jackson I I I appreciate it but don’t get your hopes up this is a pure salary D for Denver right Hornets Tak on the contract a $5 million roughly a year deal that can be stretched over three years right the Hornets have the space to do it and they’re getting paid as far as draft Capital getting three twos um for their for the charity right uh more on that in a second CU I have I have a I have a suspicion why why they’re collecting second round picks too all right I’m going full conspiracy mode here okay but Reggie Jackson he’s not playing in Charlotte all right let’s get that straight whenever he’s eligible to be waved or or stretched or whatever or cut he will be just that’s me telling you what’s going to happen all right but those second round picks always nice to have Capital right gives you options you could put five second rounders together in a trade and get yourself a good role player that’s the cost of a ninth or 10th man right on a good team is five second rounders that’s kind of how it’s floating right and more more than marrier right especially if you have the space to do it and Reggie Jackson if the Hornets are going to bring back Bridges or not I don’t know but that that isn’t going to interfere with that that that those are these two different kind of pools they’re playing in all right so stay with me here we’re going full conspiracy mode all right stay with me the Hornets are tanking I’m going to say that again just clearly the Hornets are tanking I don’t care what Jeff Peterson has to say I don’t care what Rick and Gabe have to say I don’t care what Charles Lee has to say I don’t care what the reporters have to say I’m saying the charot Hornets are tanking you don’t pick salon six overall if you’re trying to win now right I think Bridges walks and I think they get nothing in return and I think they’re going full tank and what that means is going full youth right and then if lamelo even gets a hang nail he shut down Brandon Miller shut down I think that’s where we’re heading because of this this this this and this next year’s draft class is meant to be legit right we’ve seen Brooklyn is fully has start the fullon tank and they’re Unapologetic about it all right I think Portland’s going to be sinking down low too right I think Wizards are still going to be bad uh Detroit still going to be bad Charlotte are the Charlotte Hornets are better than those teams but I can’t help but wonder and suspect that their decision yesterday and the decisions we’re going to see out including them just taking on a salary for for draft picks just because is an effort to be in the mix to get one of these really good players in next year’s draft no what no matter what happens between now and October the Charlotte Hornets aren’t making the playoffs that’s that’s clear as day all right let’s be perfectly H honest with ourselves about it you know there’s there are things to look forward to continue development with the young guys and chemistry and the new coach and like all that stuff is good and things I’m genuinely looking forward to but the win column ain’t going to be it this year all right just prepare yourself for that and and by the way I would love to be wrong I would love this team to be awesome I would love for this team to be in the playoffs I want that but it’s just not realistic all right what is realistic is an opportunity to keep their first round pick and 2025 this is what the Hornets gave up to get back into the first round to select Kai Jones in 2021 we know how that worked out right top 18 protected top 16 protected top 14 protected this year and top 14 protected next year after that in 2026 it becomes two twos the Hornets just got three twos today I think they’re preparing to be in the lottery again which is is a smart move like genuinely a a Forward Thinking move by this front office knowing that they’re probably going to lose two twos and they get three now so they can stay afloat and maintain that that Capital right that that wiggle room the Hornets added three guys in two days so that’s Salon the sixth overall pick KJ Simpson in the second round and Reggie Jackson We Know Reggie Jackson if he stays which he won’t will take up a full-time roster spot right salon’s going to take a full-time roster spot he’s not be a two-way guy but would KJ Simpson be a two-way guy there’s an open two-way slot like let me show you let me show you one second so the Hornets as of right now like literally right now Reggie Jackson freshly added have 15 guys on their full-time roster they have two two-way guys and that’s is not including the dudes they just drafted will KJ Simpson take up a two-way slot I think he’s better than a two-way guy but you have to wonder what happens to Amari Bailey he was on a two way last year right who gets that third spot if they parted WS with marqueis Balden I wouldn’t you know you know I wouldn’t think twice about it I like Ley black I think he’s worth keeping got Reggie Jackson here I don’t think he plays a single second for the Hornets this year so you you Popp in Salon here you got KJ Simpson as a two-way guy or as a full-time guy assuming they like Amari Bailey I don’t know and then you got to figure out miles Bridges if they’re GNA keep him someone else has to go and then also Seth Curry his money is not guaranteed right now they have the deadline to guarantee his contract next year is tomorrow like this this is the deadlines literally tomorrow the day after the draft they got to decide if they want to guarantee Seth Curry’s deal um on Saturday June 29th they got to decide if they’re going to offer a or send a qualifying offer to Amari Bailey and then that also same day they’re going to have to decide whether or not they accept the JT Thor’s option right and then you got the July stuff with Cody and and more JT and poesi all this stuff from brys MC but looking at June it’s Seth Curry decisions have to be made on Seth Amari Bailey and JT Thor those are just more things just keeping an eye on and to get an idea of where they’re heading right the ownership the front office they’re never going to say we’re tanking pretty sure they’ll get they’ll get fine it may lose a second round pick I think the SAG for flag is on that’s me though that’s just me saying I think that’s where we’re headed Salon welcome to Charlotte he was here earlier he got here earlier today right KJ Simpson welcome to Charlotte I’m I’m looking forward to hearing more from him I love what he had to say after his uh the he was drafted in his uh little post-draft interview uh love the emotion out of the young man I think us as a fan base have to be really patient and it’s it’s it’s a lot to ask but to put put faith into something we haven’t seen yet with these new guys right give them the opportunity to cook because it’s a long process it’s going to take a minute to get this thing rolling I think we’re we’re in this for the Long Haul and I think it will pay off eventually but to recap tjan Salon C+ draft pick KJ Simpson a draft pick Reggie Jackson is never playing for Charlotte but we got some second rounders which I think will come in handy when The Pick becomes two tws after next year’s Lottery that’s just me that’s just me that’s just me that’s just me if Bridges goes and Burtons is is traded and all of a sudden the Hornets have all this draft sorry all this cap space then will they take on more contracts for draft picks you know is that in play benim you know what I mean like are we going to see things like that that so stay tuned I think that could be in play as we go through the summer because I think I think this ownership and the front office has a vision
