Golden State Warriors Select Quinten Post With Pick #52 In 2024 NBA Draft: Full Details & Reaction

Golden State Warriors Select Quinten Post With Pick #52 In 2024 NBA Draft: Full Details & Reaction

[Music] it has been a very confusing day if you’re a fan of the Golden State Warriors but the good news is on this edition of Golden State Warriors today we’re going to explain what has transpired today what has gone down at first the Warriors had the 502 overall pick they traded it for OKC for a bench player then they bought the pick back and they have made a selection but there are a lot of implications with this that we’re going to run through comb things over and we’re going to simplify everything for you I’m Chase senior so glad that all of you are here with us so the Warriors buying back the 52nd overall pick after trading it away and they have selected a very intriguing big with that selection in Quinton post a big who attended Boston College he grew up in Amsterdam he’s a little bit older at 24 years old but has a really intriguing skill set 7 ft north of 240 lb and we’re talking about a very versatile score and arguably the best shooting big in this year’s draft very reliable interior Defender because he occupies a lot of room in the trenches in the paint he has long arms where he can block shots alter shots and he does that all without fouling he does tend to struggle with his back to the basket but in today’s NBA I’m okay with the big who has to face up knock down the midi knock down the three because that translates to the NBA level and I think a lot of people are going to be excited about this skill set of Quinton post and he’s going to remind some people of Troy Murphy who a lot of people are very familiar with 17 points per game last year nearly 32 minutes per night I like that Runway there because he’s in good shape and he showed that eight rebounds per game almost two blocks per night and for a big seven plus feet to knock down on about three attempts per night from Deep 43% of his three-point shots that can play in this Golden State Warrior system here’s what the ringer Kevin oconor had to say about Quinton post knockdown shooter from the center position incredibly coordinated big who displays excellent touch on floaters and hook shots making him a prime candidate to thrive out of the short roll he can also attack Closeouts off the dribble to drive into sweeping Runners and layups so there’s this versatility and diverse skill set to his game he also made 83.2% of his free throws the form is very pure it’s very clean and I like the coordination that he has because if he gets beat by an offensive player it’s not like he’s a wobbly athlete who struggles to recover he’s able to recover he can run some drible handoffs as a perimeter facilitator I wouldn’t say he’s a flashy passer like a Draymond Green who sometimes will throw that dime from the high post or on the entry pass to that back door cutter but he can make the simple play and that’s what Steve cerb is going to want from him but if you really combine his shooting the straight line driving the vanilla passing skills you have an intriguing fit who I think could fit very well in this Golden State Warriors system he also has that little floater game that we’ve seen from Isaiah hartenstein so I like the TT uh the touch from the mid-range and around the rim and as a floor spacing big it gives you a couple of different options for what you can do with your fourman and your fiveman and that catch and shoot ability he has that quick release and it’s impressive for a guy who checks in at 7 feet little bit older at 24 years old but I’m totally fine with that because he’s played a lot of college ball as I mentioned off the rip this whole situation is very confusing and there are going to be moves that happen after this because you thought that Golden State was not going to make this draft selection in general and a lot of people thought that they weren’t going to be able to buy this pick back because of the second apron and the salary cap implications after they made that trade sending away 52 for Lindy Waters who’s going to be a back end the rotation type of player but the good news is as I also mentioned we’re going to work through all of this together so stay tuned because we’re going to explain everything in further detail before before we do that please make sure you subscribe to the channel for the most upto-date most indepth most informative Warriors coverage right here on Warriors today you see the sub count here to my right we’re approaching 64,000 subscribers let’s continue to run it here on YouTube and grow the dub Nation family here at chat sports as for that earlier Golden State OKC trade that I alluded to Warriors Got Lindy Waters a former udfa he went to Oklahoma State he played high school ball with Trey young more of a back end of the rotation player at the time you thought so the Warriors are trading away 52 to get Lindy Waters you’re thinking they’re doing that because they were content with Waters being a more Surefire thing as compared to that rookie at 52 but with how the board fell they must have really liked post here and that’s why they bought the pick back in order to take him because they like the value there that brings us to this trade with the Portland Trailblazers who got that pick from OKC Warriors Got Back pick number 52 the confusing rule here in the NBA and round two of the NBA draft for the lack of a better term mute this if you don’t like cursing it’s a show almost every single pick gets traded there’s no organization on night one of the draft even after trades you have these draf taking the stage with the wrong hat it’s all just a mess and on top of that there are apron rules and salary cap rules which are also very confusing and what bothers me is you have a great analyst like Bobby marks on ESPN who many times will tweet out or talk about this really helpful information but other times he uses this verbiage where nobody knows what he’s talking about like please simplify it for me I’m not as smart as you so second apron teams are not allowed to purchase picks in the draft meaning Golden State should not have been able to make this pick which could signify that a move is going to happen once the new league year gets underway in a couple of days Anthony Slater of the athletic with some more information here Warriors traded cash to reacquire the 52nd pick and then they drafted Quinton post per source that officially hard caps the Warriors at the second apron they are now unable to go over it this year which was the plan regardless Kendra Andrews Warriors got their 52 pick back they take Quinton post Golden State traded the pick for Lindy Waters OKC traded the pick to Portland and then the Warriors bought it back and then Bobby Marx he did a good job of simplifying this year because Golden State sent out cash to acquire the pick the 89.7 million second apron is triggered the Warriors would not be allowed to exceed that amount and The Next Step what move is going to happen and what move could be next they could trade away Chris Paul they could trade away cavon Looney they could trade away Gary pton II they could trade away Andrew Wiggins to get below that number and if that happens of course we’re going to talk about it here on the show regardless I think Warriors fans should be happy that they finally have a seven footer who could space the floor Trace Jackson Davis really good year last year little bit smaller but a really good big and a really good rotation big he can’t shoot though now you have a player in Quinton post who can shoot the Rock and shoot the rock very very efficiently and protect the rim at a high level so now you got Post in the second round last year or this year excuse me you got Trace Jackson Davis in the second round last year those are two really good value picks by Mike dun leevy let’s give him some credit there grade The Pick of Quinton post let’s hear from you down in the comment section right now A B C D or F you put your scouting hat on and you let us know my grade for the selection of Quinton post it’s a B I didn’t think that you needed to make a trade to begin with so you had to buy it back you could have just stood Pat at 52 and I don’t know how much Lindy Waters is going to be able to impact your team he might not even make the roster so I’m going to give this a BG grade love the shooting love the playmaking because he can be a playmaking hub I do like the defensive ability and the numbers of Boston College were really exceptional if you think about it given the high level of competition that takes place in the ACC and you look ahead for Golden State this is why he subscribed to the channel when they traded the pick for Lindy Waters we broke it down immediately we’re thinking all right no Warriors video for the rest of the day we’ll let Lindy Waters ride pick up some views and then we’ll revisit everything tomorrow with the udfa tracker and we didn’t think that the warriors were to be able to buy the pick back but a move is probably going to take place at some point over the next couple of days you have the roster guarantee for Chris Paul on Friday there could be something there as well and we’re going to keep you in the know because that’s what we do right here on Warriors today hit that sub button thanks for watching producer Smitty crushing it producer chip as well you’re crushing it as well in supporting the program [Music]

  1. But SAD TO SAY, Kerr will just bench and not utilize him at all. We just need to fire Steve Kerr and lool for better coach who can design plays both outside and inside.

  2. I had Quinten Post as a sleeper pick this draft, and really wanted the Dubs to draft him. He just looks like a natural shooter. Really hope he shines with the GSW

  3. Without knowing anything about him and only seeing his stats on paper, I like the pick. Hopefully he can play right away since he is "old" for a rookie.

  4. Nice value pick for #52. Probably has a shoot at sticking as a rotational big if his D is as advertised. More minutes will come if his 3% is for real.
