The Biggest WINNERS And LOSERS Of The 2024 NBA Draft…

The Biggest WINNERS And LOSERS Of The 2024 NBA Draft…

the dust is finally starting to settle on the NBA draft having just gone down and even though this year the two rounds were split up into separate days we still had plenty to discuss from both nights and that means we’ve got a pretty good idea of who came out of the event with a nice boost and who squandered their opportunity a bit this brings us to today’s video where we will be going through who I believe were the three biggest winners and the three Biggest Losers of the event based on how they used their selections the fit of the players that they’re bringing in the value they got from their positions and if they missed on an opportunity for themselves a lot of factors can go into a good or bad draft night and we’ll break it all down right here before we start though it turns out a good amount of you watching right now aren’t even subscribed to the channel so please if you enjoy the content consider hitting the Subscribe Button as not only does it help out a ton but I’d also very much appreciate it now with that being said let’s begin starting with the first big winner of the night we have the Minnesota timber wolves the Timberwolves are coming off of an incredibly successful campaign this year making it to the Conference finals for the first time since 2004 and they came into draft night with a goal to do what they needed to to address one thing that became clear during their run that they needed more of they needed more offensive Firepower the wolves have done an outstanding job building a team that can overwhelm their opponents on defense having been the number one ranked defense this past season but in the playoffs they were definitely going through stretches where it felt like Anthony Edwards and Carl Anthony towns had to do too much offensively regarding creation and scoring the ball so the fact that the Wolves traded up to land Rob Dillingham and then also landed a top tier scoring talent in Terence Shannon Jr later in the first round is a near perfect hall for their needs Dillingham may be the most offensively talented Creator in the entire draft this year with shiftiness off the dribble and ability to pull up from anywhere to take some of the pressure off of Anthony Edwards in the backourt teren Shannon Jr was the cherry on top of their hall because he legitimately has Lottery Talent as a three-level scor but he was facing some legal trouble for a lot of the year which did recently get cleared up so now he could be viewed as a huge steel for a wolves team in need of someone just like him because he arguably has Lottery level Talent now over to the first loser of draft night we have the Milwaukee Bucks the Bucks are in a time crunch right now to make the most of their ability to compete with their current aging core and as in a situation like that you would think they would Target a player in the draft that can come in with an established skill set that can contribute immediately but instead the Bucks went in the exact opposite direction they had the 23rd pick in the first round so it’s not like they were expecting to land a star in the making but they chose Aj Johnson who very well may have a lot of untapped potential to dive into but right now he is a long way away from contributing to winning on an NBA team Johnson was playing in Australia’s NBL this year and sure there were times where he flashed potential as a slasher and an athletic finisher but he averaged just 2.9 points per game and shot a pretty putrid 35% from the field and 27% from three this season so it’s hard to see him helping a championship contender in the near future Yannis an DMO is not patient when it comes to winning Damen Lillard is about to turn 34 years old and Brook Lopez and Chris Middleton are starting to slow down two so I’m just struggling to see the logic behind this pick for them now back over to our next winner from draft Knight we have the Los Angeles Lakers the Lakers plans are very much up in the air at the moment as they await LeBron James decision on whether or not he will be staying or going in free agency but in order to lower him back they’ve got to start making win now moves and in the draft tonight they may have stumbled into the most League ready win now Talent with obvious Lottery quality in Dalton connect and they landed him at pick number 17 which is an absolute steal I pegged him as easily top 10 Talent this year because he is a lights out shooter inside and out with NBA ready size and strength regard at Tennessee this season he averaged 22 points per game knocking down 40% of his threes on high volume and in the Elite 8 of March Madness this year he had one of his best games of the year dropping 37 points and despite losing that game he showed off his competitive drive and how he thrives in the biggest moments to be a successful Laker that is a trait you absolutely need to survive and in general the Lakers need more shot creators in the rotation to take pressure off of LeBron James and Anthony Davis so to get an NBA ready guy that comes with just that was probably the best case scenario for who they could have drafted at 17 now back over to the next loser of the night we have the Memphis Grizzlies again I know this is going to be a divisive pick down in the comments but after exploring all of their options I just can’t pretend to be a fan of what they ended up with drafting at Ninth overall the Grizzlies were trying hard to trade the pick according to reports but no trade came together in time so they ended up using the pick to Draft Zack Edy who was an obviously dominant College Talent whose size brutalized everyone in his path for most of his time at Purdue but the NBA game is just way too different to seamlessly translate that kind of production to the next level and there are clear warning signs that make me hesitant in college teams are not built to stop a Monster 7 fo4 post player but in the NBA The Defenders are bigger and stronger and more importantly they’re way quicker on top of it which is something that Edie struggles with as he’s a bit slow-footed he’s not the quickest he’s a back to the basket postscoring big man that can’t shoot or space the floor and the role that guys like that end up having in the NBA comes as a backup more often than not using a top 10 pick in the draft to select a likely backup center is just never worth it for my point point of view and for that they land on the losers list now back over to the final of the three big Winners we’ll be discussing today we have the Utah Jazz the Jazz made two Selections in the first round and I have to admit I think they knocked it out of the park with both starting with the 10th pick they had quite a few options but went with Cody Williams who is the younger brother of Thunder breakout star Jaylen Williams and while it may not be realistic to expect Cody to have the same career trajectory as his brother there are definitely some shared characteristics between the two and Cody may even be better than his brother in some ways Jaylen is definitely the better overall creator with the ball in his hands and better overall talent but Cody is also projecting to be a very strong and versatile Defender with a good motor and offensively Cody knocked down 42% of his threes in college showing he can come in and space the floor while he continues to develop in other areas then their next pick they made was at number 29 and with it the Jazz landed Isaiah Collier from USC who entered the season as a big-time Prospect who was viewed as Lottery caliber but in college this year he struggled a bit with turnovers and his jumper wasn’t always on but overall I still think Collier’s bully ball aggressive style of play getting to the rim absorbing contact looking to make plays for teammates and drawing fouls can be rained in and honed so all in all the Jazz got tremendous value at both spots and finally The Last of The Losers of the night we’ll be discussing is the Brooklyn Nets the Nets didn’t have a single first round pick in this year’s draft and they also didn’t trade into the round to make a selection so they left empty-handed on the same day and they also traded away Mel Bridges earlier the Nets seem to officially be committing to a rebuild after recouping a ton of draft capital in that Bridges trade but it’s all picks down the line and it definitely would have been nice to have been able to bring in at least one first round Talent tonight to start the process off instead their team is even more depleted and they go into the upcoming off season with arguably less Talent than any other team and they don’t even have a promising Young Star to have hope for either it’s going to be a struggle for them all season long more than likely which ultimately does help a rebuild progress in the long run but in the short term it is going to be pretty tough and with that being said that’s all I have for you today 1. NepoBronny for the win! Gonna be so much fun seeing that dumpster fire burn hard knowing they giving the Pelicans a dope pick in a deep draft. But good for him not caring about letting daddy and unc secure his name being called.

  2. Worst case scenario for the Lakers is that Bronny becomes their Thanasis. I never hear anybody say "oh, if it wasn't for Thanasis, Milwaukee would be the NBA champions right now." And I think it'd be the same with Bronny. But the best case scenario is that he's got a good chunk of his dad's talent just waiting to be unlocked and some stuff of his own to show us. I hope he surprises everybody in the next few years.

  3. This video is stupid, for one Memphis doesn’t need Edey to score, they need him to do all the things JJJ doesn’t want to do which is what he’ll do, and as far as the Nets go, this draft isn’t great for rebuilding teams, they got assets for the next two which are going to be far better

  4. What did the Spurs got from the Timberwolves for Dillingham ?? I thought they could really use his skillset and did good with Castle at 4th.
Plus its not like the Wolves got a ton of interesting draft capital left after the Gobert trade 😅

  5. Bronny so overrated… If anyone else had the exact same game with the same stats going to a similar school arent getting drafted, bit bronny is because of his name…. Smh took opportunities from more deserving players who are better

  6. Christmas came early for J.J Reddick and the Lakers. Dalton Knecht is gonna help the Lakers a ton. I cannot believe he dropped to 17th. But in the end I think Knecht and the Lakers go together perfectly. Just like bacon and eggs. Horses flies and pie pans. Pitchforks and cauliflower. Femurs and knee caps etc..

  7. Lakers didn't Win the draft 😂😂. All these bogus reports before the draft of bronny being a legit prospect were all lies he was being compared to jrue holiday if that's his comparison he wouldn't have gone so late in the draft. The fake news media hype up bronny to make the Lakers not look as bad when they drafted him we all knew they were going to draft him

  8. I feel like you’re being a little hard on Grizzlies, acting like Edey isn’t going to develop at all once he gets some years in. I think especially on a team that’s already low key stacked like Memphis, it’s a pretty good pick. They’re going to be a completely different team next year than what we saw last season when everyone but Desmond Bane was injured lol

  9. Jazz is the winner in nba 2024 draft. Getting Williams (F) , Isiah (G) and steal for kyle ( C) very bright future for team

  10. Knicks reacquire IHart they will be one of the biggest winners. The plethora of second round picks they have gotten plus the 3 second round picks they got allows them to get IHart back under 2nd apron

  11. You need to level up.. quite hard to understand you when you are talking about the draft but not even showing video of the player you are talking about in the background..
