The TRUTH About The Atlanta Hawks Decision

The TRUTH About The Atlanta Hawks Decision

with the first pick in the 2024 NBA draft the Atlanta Hawks select zacharyi Rashi from Leon France and Francis JL Boron bre have you guys ever seen a more universally hated number one overall pick in your lifetime I mean you’ve even got former NBA players slandering him because when that pick happens my first thought was I wonder what Frank Mason thinks of this pick and when I found out he wasn’t a fan I was inconsolable but seriously if the only expectations for Zachary rare as the number one overall pick are to fail and I’m not going to sit here and say he’s a wemi level Prospect or he’s the next Kevin Durant but he is a 6’1 Wing who shot 40% from three in a pro league was versatile defensively and is a very good athlete R comes up with it can he finish a transition of course he can oh my goodness what a finish now if only we had evidence of another high-end draft pick being called a bust by every person on social media before they had even played a game the show hor S Brandon well that’s right the same people who said Brandon Miller would suck and Scoot Henderson was better than Victor wban Yama are here to tell you that Zachary rer can’t play basketball I on the other hand am going to say it right now the Atlanta Hawks got themselves a great future piece maybe he won’t be the superstar that you’d hope for from a number one overall pick but I’d also like you to point me in the direction of a guaranteed superstar in this draft and if you want to say Alex s fine he also averaged nine points and was coming off the bench in the NBL Just For What It’s Worth but what puts the Hawks in such a unique situation is they have topend talent already the biggest problems for them during the Trey young era has been consistency from role players both shooting wise and defensively you just addressed those two issues with Zachary rasher and as far as who he’s going to be next to at the forward position the fit between he and Jaylen Johnson gets me very excited and massive D for jayen Johnson where you have a more point forward ball handling type of guy in Johnson that can create for himself and others as a legitimate downhill force and future allar that’s almost a guarantee and then a more perimeter oriented off ball Wing in Rissa share and I think they’re going to complement each other really well I know most people have only really talked about his shooting to go along with what he can’t do as a Creator but let’s get things straight this is a 6’1 athletic mobile willing Defender just look at him here pressuring a smaller guard 30 ft from the basket he slides his hips well sticks with him the entire way and then swats the shot or in this play where he starts out top guarding the smaller ball handler the screen gets set so he switches back out to the perimeter before then recognizing the opening and poking the ball free and with that length there’s also potential to be a rim protector as well look at him here as the low man help over and block the guard at The Rim there are even plays where you see him switched on Way Big in the post and he doesn’t just give up position he fights with them in the post often getting front position before then using his active hands to poke the ball away a lot of people talk about the Boston Celtics and how they are the blueprint well defensively even when porzingis isn’t on the floor they have guys like Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown and even Derek white who can all deputize as Rim protectors at times and that’s the modern NBA because with screens getting set further and further away from the basket it’s up to the second layer of Defense to protect the rim when the big man gets drawn out and Risser has the potential to do just that now offensively is where most of the criticism is and again I’m not going to lie and say he’s this three-level heliocentric 25 10 and 10 guy which seems to be what almost everyone expects from the number one pick these days but he’s got a very valuable skill set in the modern NBA simply put he’s a knockdown shooter just look at him here catch a pretty poor pass and instantaneously gets the ball in his shooting pocket before knocking down the three or here where the pass is thrown at his feet but again he’s able to gather it and then knock down the three this is what separates okay Shooters and great Shooters is their ability to get their shot off regardless of the close out pass or position on the floor and terisa Shar showed off real versatility in that regard also mixing in some step back threes and two dribble Pull-Ups when the defense was aggressive on the close out and speaking of aggressive Closeouts this is where you will see the variety in his offensive game he’s not going to be hitting you with TW twen hesy pull-ups but if the defense closes out on him he can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim I’m talking about two-handed dunks in traffic and when I think about the combination of shooting and finishing at The Rim there is one other player in the NBA that immediately Springs to mind a tall athletic knockdown shooter who was also being questioned because of his handle self-creation ability and passing ability that guy is lar Marin risset should be looking at lar and thinking how can he improve his strength and frame to become a downhill Force like marinan is because if you’re 6’10 with broad shoulders plus a reliable jump shot you’re going to be able to get downhill consistently even if you don’t have the best handle in the world he’s also got really really good offensive instincts like here where the defense overplays him so he’s able to cut back door and go up top for the lob another play that I’ve seen Larry make consistently and as far as he playmaking he’s a quick smart decision maker on that end the numbers aren’t going to be huge simply because of his role but it adds a different dimension to his off the- bounce game where instead of just attacking the rim he’s also capable of kicking it out to shooters or making nice wraparound passes to plays in the dunker spot and it’s not like he’s a player incapable or unaware of the areas of his game that needs to improve as a young player I had to assert myself within a professional team I’ve also improved a lot of my three-point shooting and I feel like I’ve reached a new level of aggressiveness my biggest area of improvement is dribbling under strong defensive pressure but I know I’m capable of it and there’s every reason to believe he can improve his ball handling because he did the exact same thing for his SHO shooting and finishing and I think being aware of his biggest weakness is important there’s another French player that comes to mind when I think of that his name is Killian Hayes he spent four years in the NBA and every offseason workout video I saw involving him was six dribble step back mid-range shots all the whilst he couldn’t make a layup with his right hand sometimes the biggest strength for a player can be their understanding of their role within the team and what they need to do to excel in those areas rer is in a position where he’s set up to succeed all of those weaknesses that people talk about in regards to his handle or his self-creation well he’s on a team that despite having the number one overall pick has one of the best Playmakers in the league a 6’9 Do-it all forward who can also handle the ball and maybe Deon muray maybe not but there will be Talent all over the floor regardless to allow him to settle into his role initially and then hopefully build on his game gradually and I’m going to be completely honest I’m rooting for Zachary Rish more than you can imagine just because of how adamant everyone is that he’s going to be such a bad number one overall pick now if you did make it all the way to the end of the video and want to see more content like this all throughout the offseason and going forward consider subscribing it’s free either way have a nice day bye

  2. Speaking facts and showing proof! The hive of negative sheep on social media who are suddenly acting like we passed on some guaranteed super star is baffling people really do just love to blindly hate for no reason.

  3. why are people even excited about Sarr? nothing about him pops and he's already displaying attitude issues. he's the next Ayton, at best

  4. Having good role players who defend that hard goes a long way, look at the Suns, they got swept with stacked superstars its dumb. Hawks would be dumb as well if they let go trae young now

  5. The problem with Risacher is his shooting. He didn't finish his season on just a slump, he had a bad fall on the head, and got his muscle memory messed up by it. It's a thing. It could take years before he can shoot like the beginning of this past season. Ask Jordan Poole.

  6. He sorta looks like Michael Porter, Jr. to me. Maybe not as good a shooter, but more willing passer. Very similar body frame & movement, though.

  7. The NBA draft is absolute garbage. Nearly every player drafted these days in the lottery would have been a 2nd round project in the 80s and 90s. None of these players are worthy of being lottery picks. Even the ones that are decent are going to be in year 3 or 4 before they become reliable players on an NBA roster. 90% of the time you are signing up for a few wasted seasons developing players that couldn't even consistently produce in the G League.

I think the only solution is to eliminate the draft entirely. Its completely unnecessary and stupid. Just make everyone that declares for the NBA a Free Agent and the teams with cap room can sign the players they can afford. The rest can sign for the minimum on teams that have roster spots available or prove themselves worthy in Summer League. Then players will be forced to sink or swim. It will improve the NBA overnight. The NBA won't do this bc they like being in control of which teams get better and when.

  8. Lol this guys is smoking crack even mentioning Durant and Wemby in the same sentence…. clear foreign fan of Risache. Got another weak wing player that's going to have similar career to Taejon Prince. Expect that! We did manage to get a bigger piece of popularity in Europe though for more team publicity and market shares! Frank Mason btw, has more NBA knowledge from 1 day at a practice than 6Man does in his life. I would agree absolutely Zaccharie is a 4-10 pick in any other draft and wouldn't have been 1st this year if not for toxic politics working against the Hawks. Don't discount the cowards we have running the team either, they shoulda taken Sarr anyways at #1 and then traded or let him sit. That tends to straighten out a young mans priorities pretty quickly when he finds out he's not getting paid for not playing. Side note…. Brandon Miller isn't blowing anyone away either, lol!

  9. my issue is not with the player its the fit. The hawks are supposedly are in win now mode. We are insanely small, with a aging center who is a shell of a defender that he used to be. We NEED BIGS! and have no cap sopace for free agents. I wish we would have flipped this pick for multiple game changing defender ( We could have got Clingon, Holland and possible Ryan Dunn ) that could help immediatly. Yea sure down the road he might be solid. But he does nothing to make us better now, and we have no assits or cap space to build only the trade market. This was a chance for us to get two solid holes filled and instead hes in na crowded front court fighting for minutes.

  10. Something else that NBA fans don't seem to realy know about him: he's the son of a famous French basketball player, Stéphane, who had a long and fruitful career including winning a silver medal in the Olympics in Sydney 2000, playing 34 minutes out of 40 (the most out of any player) in a close loss to the USA. Zaccharie has got some of his father's basketball IQ and is FOR SURE well-rounded and well-grounded. He's been in a profesionnal basketball environment literally his entire life!
I agree that he seems to lack the "killer instinct" that makes the franchise players but he will be a great all-around player, give him time to develop.

  11. Fans who said sarr is better are blind.. how you a big man averaging 4 rebounds?? If the hawks don't want zacc then send him to the nuggets we need replacement for kcp

  12. thanks as a Hawks fan you got me hype. Might actually be nice for him to hear he's the worst #1 pick cuz there's zero expectations to live up to. Just go out and ball and it will be easy to beat Anthony Bennet.

  13. Says Hawks have one of the best playmakers in the league, but says the wrong name, nice trolling 🤣🤣

  14. I have no problem with the player Risacher he seems like he has promised to be a really good player and more. My issue is I believe they missed on an opportunity to draft Alex Sarr a player they could have used on their roster and was coveted by the wizards who they could have fleece them for the 2nd and 26th pick who they could have used to draft Risacher and then convert to a future 2025 + pick since they got the 44th pick for trading AJ Griffin.
It is clear that they are trying to clean out all of Travis Schlenk's players. The moment he was ousted they started getting rid of them one by one. Apparently Trae young might be the next one. This current staff of the Hawks will not admit that DJM trade did not work and will be hell-bent on proving that.
If Travis Schlenk was still here I think they would have drafted SARR and then traded similar to the Trae young draft. Instead this regime is not interested in creativity in the front office.

While there are similarities to this draft and what the Atlanta Falcons did with Michael pennix Jr the difference is the situation of having another more overall pick versus eight. And what transpired and could have done. The Hawks had a position of power/opportunity the falcons had a fleeting opportunity.
It is clear that both Atlanta teams didn't want to fool around with wheeling and dealing risk missing out on their guy that they were already locked in on. Although with the Hawks there was NO way that could have happen trading with the wizards at 2. Falcons could have lost penix at 8 if Chicago flipped it to a 3rd team like Vikings or raiders to still get Odunze.

  15. He was the only pick for the Hawks. The Hawks have bigs, and Sarr even said he didn't wan to come to Atlanta, so I don't think he was the guy. Clingon and Sheppard were the only other 2 options I saw thrown around by critics. Sheppard doesn't work, because then they're just drafting, at best, another Trae. Clingon fell pretty far, and still wouldn't fit. Risascher is the only player in the draft that I think the Hawks could have reasonably taken at the time who fits with the current roster. Good video.

  16. No one said he would be a bust. It’s the fit. Atlanta’s not a bad team, they could win now the right player. Their weakness was at the center position. They drafted a player that may be good, but only a slight improvement on what they have. They have decent wing defenders but Capela is too small and getting old and no one on the team is a starting caliber big. And the thing about someone playing in a “pro league” over seas has little relevance to the NBA. Lots of foreign league stars have come here and failed. He’s still young and inexperienced and will take a few years to adapt to the game.

  17. Great video. Love how you broke down all his plays and what he brings to the Hawks. The only ones thing are the ones that can’t make anything out of their sorry lives.

  18. Honestly, in this year's NBA Draft, no one is worthy of being number 1, the closest is probably Alex Sarr

  19. As a hawks fan he is a great pick to pair with Jj all hawks fan that 5ink we should’ve picked sarr is crazy he is someone with a big ego and does not want to play basketball if he is not the number one option that’s not what you want from a rookie RISHACHER IS GONNA BE GREAT

  20. Thank you Hawks fans for not taking Sarr. I’m excited for my Wizards to work with him on his 3 point game, which he already has a good stroke for. Going to be a killer on both ends at that point. Oh yeah, and he’s 7’1. He’s already going to have a super high floor just from his defensive abilities alone

  21. as a french who watch French prospect he's like a Franz wagner he's NBA ready a solid 3andD his best potential it's a Klay Thompson Wing

  22. Will he be better than Brandon Ingram, because New Orleans is definitely making him available, could have went that route

  23. If Frank Mason is the player that I know him to be and ZR , at age 18 was able to play in the same league as a 29YO Mason that’s potential I don’t mind betting on .
