BREAKING: Indiana Pacers select Johnny Furphy with the No. 35 Overall Pick | 2024 NBA Draft Round 2

presented by State Farm and moments ago the Portland Trailblazers with the 34th pick selected Tyler kic out of Marquette he led division one in assists at 7.7 per game last year here’s a little bit more about Tyler KCK high IQ player with a great feel for the game really shares the ball at a high level and creates shots for other guys in that way and you know can really stretch the floor and shoot it my dad is a basketball Junkie he’s in the gym every single time I’m in the gym you know on the other end getting shots up he’s kind of instilled my love for the game through seeing him and his love for the game Jonathan let’s dive in a little bit more into Tyler kik’s passing Malika it sounds like this pick is headed to the Knicks uh absolutely love this guy for Tom Tibido the best passer in college basketball this season made his threes at a high rate uh Big East Player of the Year All American ready to come in and contribute from day1 outstanding pick and roll player just brings a toughness to him that I think Tibido is going to like I’m very surprised that Tyler kic is here at this stage of the draft this is an outstanding selection for the Knicks and as you mentioned this pick is being selected by Portland but is headed to the New York Knicks and now the San Antonio Spurs they are on the clock at number 35 so obviously adding Stefan Castle was a first step in building around Victor wanyama but how do you think that their timeline Bob if if if you’re sitting there seeing a generational Talent like Victor has been adjusted by having him on your team well Malika I think they knew he was going to be the expectations were very high for Victor W but but I think he actually exceeded him so if I was in San Antonio’s front office by the way they’re a lot smarter than I am but they they I would be saying hey guys this kid’s better than we thought so should we speed this thing up and I actually think they’re they are speeding it up now the problem is the West isn’t getting any easier but they are forc in you’re not going used to be years past the last few years you go to San Antonio you say we could probably win this game now with W Viana and even Castle being a great pick Malika they’re saying why can’t we compete and and the question is going to be do they want to go grab veterans they’re grabbing a lot of good young players do do they want to go grab some big time veterans yeah listen They have Max cap space if they want to get involved with Paul George let’s say he declines his player option he goes into free AG genc you know do you want to get involved in players in their 30s who want four-year max deals those are hard decisions for an organization because you still look what Oklahoma City has done in this league right now you are not doing it through free agency in San Antonio right they could also get guys to come into their space too via trade which they’re an easy trading partner they have so many picks they’ve got four picks in next year’s draft in a monster draft that that’s they may get their co-star next next year not this year well and we’ll see who’s joining their roster right now let’s head back to Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum with the 35th pick in the 2024 NBA draft the San Antonio Spurs select Johnny Fury from Melbourne Australia the NBA Global Academy in Australia and the University of Kansas Johnny Fury born in Melbourne Australia he was a member of the Big 12 all freshman team at Kansas let’s learn a little bit more about Johnny Fury I’m from Melbourne Australia I grew up playing all my junior basketball in Melbourne growing up well early as I can remember I’ve been watching LeBron James just like a superhero pretty much I wouldn’t say I base my game off him I think I’m pretty unique players of that standard been always always been watching playing Australian Rules Football growing up really helped me uh kind of learn how to play with and against physicality just throwing a body in the pack of people that’s something that’s pretty familiar and common within the sport I think I definitely learned that from playing football Stefan Castle Johnny Fury both picks by the San Antonio Spurs Jonathan tell us a little bit more about Johnny Malika sounds like this pick is headed to Indiana Johnny Fury was a complete unknown even in Australia a year ago until his stock exploded at the NBA Academy games in Atlanta he shot 36 from be 36% from Beyond The Arc of Kansas this year he’s 6’9 he brings activity toughness feel for the game uh this a quality pick for the Indiana Pacers we had Johnny Fury projected to go 18 in our mock draft La uh last night for them to get him here at at 30 six is a steal yeah and when you look at Fury Indiana did not have a first round pick that was sent to Toronto the ultimate glue Guy this is equivalent of a first round pick Kevin Pritchard has done a master class as far as drafting developing Benedict mathan Ben Shepard jarus Walker Andrew nard the list goes on and we can add Fury to that group Jonathan Bobby thank you so very much and now the Indiana Pacers they are on the clock at number 36 right now Tyrese Halbert and the Pacers obviously we saw them make it to the inseason tournament finals they had a run through the Eastern Conference here but W what are their plans to continue to build on what we saw in the postseason well this is a team in Indiana remember too you know you didn’t see Ben Maan who was you know an outstanding young player for them he got injured early in the year you know he was a high lottery pick two years ago you get him back healthy next year this is a team with lots of really good young assets if they wanted to go out and do another big deal for the next big vet veteran that becomes available and especially when you have Hal Burton who everybody in the league wants to play with Pascal sakam couldn’t wait to play with him it was even better than he imagined they had so much success together but they’re going to be formidable here in the East moving forward and now the pick is in so let’s send it back to Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum with the 36th pick in the 2024 NBA draft the Indiana Pacers select Juan Nunes from Madrid Spain and Germany’s o Juan Nunes sharing this moment with his family he played in Germany the last two seasons his teammate there was pacom daier who went 25th overall to the New York Knicks and now won Nunes putting on the Hat the 36th pick here getting his moment hello spe foreign spee [Music] spee speee spee [Music] fore spe spee [Music] foreign for for
