what’s going on everybody Welcome to Jack Dam’s Danny mang Brandon sprag live from our respective homes because uh everything is crazy up down left right we had planning on going live in probably about 15 more minutes uh but uh well Joe Crono and the Gang decided to not uh let us do that because they have made a trade and uh it is one that was kept very very very very quiet and is a guy that I really like Brandon uh the trail bers have traded for Washington Wizards uh wing Denny AIA what’s your your first thoughts on uh the entirety of this the day and kind of what what your first like what reaction was because when I talked to you on the phone you were out of breath well I I went on a Four Mile Run and literally the draft day yeah dude I had too much stress I was running on no sleep I needed to burn some some energy off and so literally as I wrapped like I’m not kidding you called I just finished my run pulled my phone out and I had a couple texts from Friends saw you call and I went oh man this is bad timing and instantly had to run up cool down shower get it going um is it let me before I give my thoughts on the trade which I’ve already tweeted so we’ll get into this but my my co-host has put on My Radio Show Twitter account and this is so part I think part for the course for a lot of the city did you know who Denny Oda was three hours ago yes or no and I think that’s where we can kind of start like you and I were talking right before we fired it up look I I’ve heard both sides I’ve heard this is a slam dunk trade I’ve heard like oh massive overpay your hack if you like this okay here’s here’s my original thinking I’m trying to like get my brain going right before we start the Pod so they have two firsts in this year’s draft and Lottery we presume they were going to use Danny one of those picks on a wing right a player of some size right that that was our presumption okay they got a 9 guy yeah he’s 23 he’s younger technically than Dalton connect I still like dton connect a lot but he’s younger okay so you still have your seventh pick uh your 2029 there’s three of them that Portland has this is the second most favorable one in that year so it’s ours it’s Boston it’s Milwaukee the second most favorable one is the one going to Washington Danny what year is it 2024 okay I don’t know if the world will exist in 2029 I don’t care about that pick right now and they have a buttload of second round picks you can certainly make an argument for Brogden the player whatever you think of it I it is what it is I don’t think that they weigh overpaid you can make an argument they paid a little bit over but that’s okay he’s 23 he averaged almost 15 points seven rebounds his shot efficiency was fine he’s the size you need and I know you’re going to get into the contract the contract’s pretty damn Team friendly so we were looking for them to get a wing they may still get another one with their seventh pick they got one an hour before the draft okay let’s kind of go through this step by step they trade Danny AIA for Malcolm Brogden the 2024 number 14 overall pick 2029 first round pick that is a lesser than your most optimized pick in that draft so if Milwaukee is bad in 29 that will still be Portland’s yes whatever the best pick is in that draft they have it yep that’s that’s what happens here okay and two seconds H how I’m trying to figure out how is a pick that at best was probably going to be used for Kon George Zack Ed jacobe Walter I whatever like you’re like okay or or you could trade it for a guy on not I’m not going to say probably the best non rookie scale contract in the entire league so just on that point alone yeah can you explain why you think that so he’s got a he just signed a fouryear $55 million deal which you’re like oh it sounds like a decent amount of money but it’s on the lower end for sure his contract this year will be $15.6 million in 2728 it will be 11.8 million it is a descending value contract the uh cap up his contract down his talent up contract down is everybody picking up what we’re putting down here okay he just had a season where he put up I’m going double check it real quick 15 seven and four so he can score he can rebound hey hey hey guys a wing who can rebound remember that you guys are very mad about that but he doesn’t rebound this one rebounds okay and he creates and he shot 50 3774 oh and he’s 69 oh and he’s 23 years old so if I was going to tell you because most of you didn’t know who Denny abdia was which is okay by the way the wizard sucked but if I told you hey man there’s a 23y old Wing out there who’s 157 and4 who shot 503775 who has one of the best contracts in the entire league what do you think that would cost think about it for a second do you think it was like uh guy a veteran on an expiring deal and then two throwaway firsts and I don’t care about the seconds they have a pile of them yeah what they get for gp2 like four of them five five they got five from one player two of them probably W convey but like again like every’s like well you need to maximize value I get all of that they probably got a player in Danny AIA better than any player in this draft assume cly better than every wing I assume that’s what they think yes and he like where you have questions up and down about you know what does this player do what does this player somebody citing Advanced stats from Denny ABIA in the chat for a guy who played on the Wizards I this is the kind of thing that makes my brain hurt um you know how I know I love this deal because people that are mad about this deal are Blazers fans who see draft picks and my phone with everyone who works in the league going this is an absolutely incredible deal how did they pull off Danny abdia so I I was thinking about this earlier and I you know obviously this trade surprised the hell out of me I don’t know where it rang for you but like it it pops up and it happens right so it’s like instantly we have to think about how it makes us feel and I did see the pics in Brogden I was like oh and I was thinking about it and I’m like I go back to this morning and I’m I’m certainly not trying to suggest that this is Apples to Apples here right I there’s a little apple orange stuff here but like would anybody have guessed that the Knicks would have had to pay six picks five five first round first four unprotected if for four unprotected and and and the the protected and the Milwaukee first and then a second for male Bridges who I think is a very good player certainly better than Denny but never made an All-Star team and now they’re paying 212 to OG I just you know what I think is happening here and I’m not I I’m not Mr like every deal the Blazers make is incredible I’m not I’m not one of those guys I’m trying to be honest here no this is but this is a this is a good deal like legit I don’t know if we understand trade value in the league right now I think it’s a really hard thing to comprehend second apron stuff’s going to change a lot of this you’re not going to have as many super teams and we’re just seeing we’re seeing picks fly off the handle for players all over and I think it’s kind of warping it like any other Year Danny I would have told you that’s what Bridges was going to go for you’d have been like no way I feel like today it was met with mostly like hell yeah now it seems like a good fit for New York and I think that’s why people say it but does that make him a title favorite no but it it seems like a really good play for a team made of good chemistry hard workers and guys that have you know familiarity with each other the thinking is pretty simple it’s a 69 player they needed a player mul tool 6 foot n player 23 years old who’s under contract for four more years what more do you want like that’s that’s the thing about this oh and by the way remember that the whole like well the Blazers financially have to worry about what they’re doing and and people kept throwing that one move one single move the Blazers cleared $16 million they’re under the tax yeah I I just I think this is the part of the rebuild that’s going to be fascinating aside from who they pick in about 30 minutes it’s just moves like this where it might be a player that we’re not all as and I’m certainly not trying to act like I watched all his games last year I watch a lot of Wizards basketball but following the league and knowing that he was out there I mean I didn’t know that they were going to trade for him but he’s a good player and they’re they’re thinking he can get better he can grow and he can help Scootin and Shan uh I want to shout out Hussein April 12th couple months ago he DMS me and says hey Danny what do you think about Danny Abdi as a trade cand for the Blazers this summer The Warriors pick Rob Williams an extra would really fit in this team and also a really nice extension I replied with really like AIA I don’t know if they’re at that stage yet of going for that of going for because like I’d heard aia’s name is like a name that had circulated around but I was like I don’t I don’t know if organizationally they’re there yet for the Blazer side and I don’t know if the Wizards are like Abdi is really the only guy outside of kabali that I had heard was like no they really like him like kiss bir’s a good player and I think I thought he was more getable than avdia um but I just wanted to shout out Hussein because he hit me up he says looks like I wished it into existence so shout out shout out Hussein yeah I I think um I just I’m kind of curious now like this is the team building part that we get to react to in real time of like we know they’re going to pick seventh tonight yep and it seems like if Donovan’s there they’re gonna they’re going to draft kingan I mean that’s what all the Intel suggest that he’s high up on that board well they’ll okay do you want say don’t say no say you want to get into it now well if you want to keep talking about this this deal we certainly can I mean very interesting I’m I’m okay either way that’s that that’s where I’m at with this because uh we we can kind of go through this a little bit more if we want to um I I think for right now it’s we’ve kind of covered everything of the the initial stuff like what they do now I think possibly changes um the the opportunities that are on the board here now probably change right if you got your wing does that mean that Cody Williams is probably off the board maybe does that mean toon St is off the board maybe does that mean maybe dton connects off the board maybe so much depends on what happens here in the next 20 minutes I’d be surprised if D was on the board still with this I would too just because it’s been so loud around multiple teams talking about moving up for him more specifically Memphis moving up for him if Memphis doesn’t move up for him then perhaps he’s there but I’ve heard that even Detroit could consider going e screw it we’ll take him because you have a new guy in charge like he’s the only one they’re actually tied to in Detroit right now is Kade that’s it yeah I mean well hell even last year uh heading into the heading into the season the Chicago Bulls had the opportunity to trade uh Zack LaVine for Jaden Ivy and a first so the old regime was already like H you know we we we’re willing to move Ivy we’ve already whiffed you know so like you have an understanding of of what that looks like and for if for kingan now though right Detroit could just say we’ll move Jaylen Duren and we want to go with kingan because he that’s more like who we like okay then then the Blazers will adjust but it’s getting harder and harder for me to see kingan being there at seven as it stands right now from what I understand and through talks back and forth all day ret SAR are about as set as you could be going into the draft that sounds like it’s done okay that’s the other thing is AIA leaving Washington and them getting Brogden now whether or not they hold on to Brogden Washington feels like they might flip him though and try to get something they could or they could go hey you know it would be really good having a competent point guard and not entrusting our new number two overall pick to Jordan pool just you know yeah you know what I mean like yeah balock kabali Alex s let’s give Malcolm broen the ball and like let let’s have like some level of competence to run our offense yeah like I could see that I could see that incredibly easy um but looking at this draft you you understand kind of where one and two are three is that spark Point we’ve been talking about this for weeks about how this could possibly shake up is Houston gonna stay is Houston gonna make the pick is somebody gonna move up by the way I would just throw out there the the couple names you rattled off some of them I would understand if they’re not on I still think tjn should be on that list of like what is he he’s 610 like that’s still a player of interest for me I I don’t know if oh yeah no for sure for sure I’m I’m there with you like look if you can run like if if your you know your your wings going forward are Denny avdia and ton salon and you’re 69ine 610 at you’re 34 yeah I’m like a prry dog popping out of the hole baby you know I’m I’m happy I’m chirping that’s exactly what I want to see the other part of this too for me and I I think why I I I I like it is um the one thing that was important and we’ve talked about this on the pot a couple times was for me when I bring up like Dalton connect for example right it it wasn’t just that like oh dton connect and he’s the best player it was like I just loved that dton connect could probably come into the league get some buckets be a dog and help scootout when he when he drives and and he kicks you have that yeah you’ve got now support and I hope Shaden stays healthy next year but like Denny is somebody that like when he’s out there he should be able to help a guy like scoot not I just I like that I like trying to support the young rookie point guard going into year two that kind of figured some stuff out at the end of his rookie year and hopefully carries that in next year that was an underrated part of this trade to me too was I just think he’s a good support player like a really good player with a little more upside than what he had last year and he’s somebody that’s going to help your point guard out a lot yeah no for sure like the thing that I’ve I’ve uh begrudged uh been frustrated about with the Portland Trailblazers beyond the um lack of shooting is you you’ve heard me talk about this mostly offline is the playmaking right the secondary playmaking the the guy can attack a guy that has like natural playmaking feel avdia has that Y and that’s one of the things I really honestly that’s the reason I really like him is that he has the ability to yes be a plus Defender at at plus length and you know he can knock down threes and he can slither to the rim and finish and like but for me the thing that matters the most is like oh he’s a plus secondary creator playm you’ve heard me say this a million times so forgive me playmaking with size is the rarest commodity in the league so for them to that’s why when I say like what the Blazers paid for this I’m like sure a pick that they probably didn’t care that much about a pick that’s five years out expiring veteran Malcolm Brogden you took those things and you turned them into something that you really want that’s that’s great for everybody wondering Dallas is here because my wife is not here right now and so she wanted to jump on my lap and make a TV appearance you know it’s a three person pod now that’s okay it’s been a while but no I I I think you know that’s that that’s the aspect of it too for me is just you’ve got a playmaker with 69ine size and and you know what it’s not that he’s coming to some great situation from a win loss perspective but sometimes A team’s like hey thanks see you later you know it’s a new opportunity for him to come here I’m sure Joe and Company have already communicated with him like we’re going to give you a ton you’re going to get a ton of looks here this is a big opportunity for you he just got paid it’s a great contract as you mentioned at the start of the Pod uh I just I I think we’re seeing we’re seeing the stuff Danny and the stuff is like this it’s this wide and it’s like man it’s a lot of stuff in there but like if you just break the stuff down like Malcolm you mentioned expiring uh this year they their 14th pick it was whatever it was a flip of the coin if that was going to hit anyway for most of us the future pick that is in five years that I don’t care about right now you have two more five picks five years out I don’t care about particularly the lesser of the the of those picks you know what I mean yeah I just I don’t have time to care about 2029 right now it’s 2024 brother we’re trying to get through 2024 and two seconds she got five for just gp2 so you only got rid of two of those five I I just you know I think it was worth it taking a trade and getting a player a position uh of need so that’s that’s about as much as I think we have uh on Denny in general because I don’t know what else to add other than I’ll be curious to see what they do with Mal your your Malcolm point is valid they can very easily flip him too like they I’m curious if Malcolm wants to be flipped like hey I the Los last I will say right now unless he’s cool being in DC yeah which that that could be a real thing chocolate City I’m just saying um but I would strongly state that M would probably like to be flipped and the other side of that for all of this is the Wizards could just sit there and wait this out and see who goes where and then find the veteran team and goes would you like Malcolm brogon yeah like I I everything about this I I I really like this deal and it’s it’s it’s really funny it It’s it’s look it’s very funny seeing Blazers fans like this is an overpay and I’ve got I have literally everyone on my phone texting me dude this is an incredible trade who works in the league like I don’t know how they pulled this off I don’t think people in Portland truly understand how like where the value scaling of Denny is actually in the league um it’s a lot I think theist is longer from our side Danny and it’s like oh my God look at all we gave up whereas it’s like hey one player there it is that’s fair four things oh my God yeah the the the quantity as opposed to the Quality right right and and and look if he doesn’t hit call it out in real time but if he just play the thing is like I don’t think he’s not gonna hit he’s already hit he’s already a good player that’s kind of what I think too I’m just saying like and if he gets better it’s gonna make that trade I think feel a little better for people so yeah um you know you know how you know this this trade is good uh the Blazers are calling it overpay and the entire Wiz wizard sub threat is having a meltdown oh are they on on they they didn’t get enough for Denny look if you had asked me 12 hours ago basketball and a nutshell right there what it would cost to get Denny I would have talked about much more valuable assets than what they gave up like more draft capital I would have started probably with seven and probably would have included ant wow like that would have been my perception around like what it would take to get abdia from the Wizards yes okay so like that’s that’s what I mean when I’m like this is a from a value scaling in my brain yeah that that to me is like it sounds really good so uh but back to the draft uh as it sits right now rear one two the Rockets can go different paths if they if they make a move a bigger move not necessarily Kevin Durant but it’s a bigger move um Jimmy Butler Paul George whatever it may be and they give this pick up here that’s one path you know that that’ll go to whatever team that they they go and then it you can go 18 different ways with that pick the one that everybody has talked about is is if they’re making a move is with Memphis and Memphis is going if they move up they are taking Donovan Clingan that is that is the they don’t they don’t really have a center I mean they need they have a Steven Adam sized hole in their roster right now yes they do yes they do so um that’s the one there is a world where at five Detroit does trade back and I heard this starting yesterday afternoon I said it on the radio today that Rob Dillingham has started gaining a ton of traction and could end up in the first half of the draft which Buck get her and his name has been linked to Detroit but so if Detroit moves back that could also be a place where the the uh Grizzlies move up to or perhaps the Thunder they’ve also been like hey you know we’d like Clingan even though he doesn’t go down the path of the five out big sure so I don’t really I’m kind of curious too of Memphis like Memphis makes sense for kinging I’m not really sure what was it that I heard I think it was maybe smart earlier and I’m like Marcus Smart isn’t making Houston better who was his coach no no I I know I get that part of it I’m just like but that’s the reason behind it is like that’s a guy that e may can go to war with yeah that’s an interesting decision for them because like I I feels like if they’re trading out they’re trying to take that step right and I just I’m not really convinced Marcus Smart at this point of his career is going to put them over some kind of hump in the Western Conference which is already uh really tough Oklahoma City is a sneaky good point by you because of all the draft picks that they have they could just throw right at Houston who can maybe swing that into something wouldn’t even turn a dent no here’s a few firsts thank you we still have 85 of these and then Houston takes their draft Capital they flip it for something maybe a little bit bigger down the road um I I’m fascinated to see who stays and who moves like who is I had a mutual friend of ours I was texting with and I we were talking about like who who do you like who do I like and this was you know hours ago so I’m like I’d like him to take connect he’s a good shooter stability good culture guy seems like and I go who do you like and he goes man I like a lot of things and he goes I really would love San Antonio to take flinging I want some jumbo Towers out there and I’m like you know what may not be the most position need but I kind of like the idea let’s get real weird in this draft that’s just too much oh no he knows it was know but I mean like no nobody nobody nobody wants to see that that’s that’s too much that’s yeah there’s nowhere to go at that point in time like no I know it’s ridiculous mean do do you call it the Allied Powers at that point in time like good Lord um yeah no it’s that’s the other one we kind of skipped over four here yeah they’re interesting Spurs stff Castle yeah seems like that’s that look seems to be trending that way yeah everyone’s like yeah no the bring the draft it just started yeah this I’ve got up on the other monitor right now the uh the Spurs getting Castle feels kind of like them getting this isn’t the same thing but it kind of feels like them getting guard Kawai where you’re like well if he hits he could be really good and that’s kind of like I’ve talked to a few execs in the league who are like I really don’t want to see him end up there because of their track record with those kind of guys um and then just how easy Wy makes playing off of him yeah so uh I’ll be curious to see what they go do you go guard there it’s an obvious kind of area for him but I mean Castle’s I’ve talked to numerous people who have Castle number one on their board overall so you know who’s a big castle guy I found out today who the homie Mike Richmond no no no that that that’s tracks huge castle guy uh yeah no Rich Mike likes like weird guards yeah like that’s that’s that’s definitely his Jam like he he was feeling what Bon was putting down now can I ask you this so they get they make the trade they’re at seven they’re on the clock maybe they go hey let’s just be Boston let’s just get as many wings remember remember when Joe got introduced in 21 I went back and looked at those quotes and we talked about it on the pot of just like wangs wangs wangs right like does Joe just go you know Boston lot of size yeah let’s go buis I mean it’s I was talking to Dusty on the air today and the thing I said is look if whatever you want to find in the league in opinion you can find it I’ve had people tell me like yeah I can see buis buis is the guy in Portland I’ve had a bunch of people tell me that connect is the is a guy today I’ve had a bunch of people tell me that Cody is the guy today I’ve had a bunch of people tell me that Clingan is the guy today I’ve had a bunch of people tell me that you know that the Blazers were looking at EDI and Kishon George at 14 and it’s like well 14’s gone so okay let’s let’s see what happens how would you react if it’s Ed at s they’ve got their wing and now they just want their big they don’t care what you would see me go from here to here very quickly and you’d see me down here go from huh to H oh yeah give me some Edy I that would be like six to midnight give me some Ed yeah mine would be midnight to six yeah I know yours would be the opposite we be in a weird strip club together D I’m out I gotta get out of here you know whatever would come out and I’d look at you and you’d be like H I’m like not my thing going to stage four go get some steak bites uh Adam Silver is getting the draft underway with I’ve got him on mute purposfully he’s doing his little intro right now he’s about to introduce the first pick on the clock so this is going to be roughly about what we said around like 510 is is when this thing’s probably going to kick off well I mean like I said it’s the it’s the NBA it’s no I I know I know no they’re doing a nice little uh thing to to to Jerry West and Bill Walton right now oh sure it’s it’s all great I uh I have it I have it turned down and somebody’s asking uh at at what time is who AA is that you know to be fair to that technically sahay isn’t a boa now you know what I mean like she’s of the boa age so just we don’t King Shame here no we do not we do not um but so we’ve gotten kind of through picks one through five that doesn’t cover how everything can and might will could go but I think that’s the general consensus of of where we’re at with stuff I I kind of I’m I kind of I would like to see them go what you said as far as like wings wings wings wings wings just keep going on size even with them getting AIA I I would like to see them take Williams or Salon if Cody if Cody and tan are there like I would like to see them come out with one yeah like again we’ve talked about the connect back and forth a million times I don’t have anything against doton I think he’s going to be a good player I think the fit is kind of I agree now that we have Denny I would agree with that yes I think it’s even more so now yeah I it’s uh the way I described it today was not square peg round hole but octagon Peg round hole it fits but it’s not perfect yeah Denny AIA it’s a good fit I mean New Boston won how like obviously KP is a little bigger than a normal Wing but like they won with switchability and size and we do this almost yearly right it’s like everybody needs to find their yic and then now it’s like everybody needs to find Wings but like we’ve known wings are of value in this league for a while what did New York do today what’s the rarer thing like what’s what’s can you find Wings yes out there gener they be wrong they’re hard to find like I don’t want to make it sound like they’re easy to find but what’s what’s this is what I talk about with scarcity what’s harder to to to get a generational seven-footer or or really good Wings obviously the seven-footer is more rare particularly with the skill level like I could be wrong if they could go get a seven-footer like a wmi yeah go get me the freak that no one can deal with of course one ball away dude we were one ball away unbelievable and honestly think about think about pairing Denny AIA with wmy think about Denny with Dame and wmy like that’s now you’re talking about like title contending type teams and we are officially on the clock now um I don’t this is gonna be ree right I mean yes I don’t think they take any time here but they’re proba you think they just they’ll probably get a couple minutes they’ll got a couple minutes because they have to make sure hey don’t turn those in too fast uh we got to run commercials yeah it’s probably the one thing I hate about the leagues with their drafts of the drafts that we really watch in the NFL and NBA is like when you know it’s the number one pick like Caleb Williams was the most obvious pick for two years wait let’s see what’s gonna happen here and it’s like it’s 10 minutes on the clock starts now and it’s like dude I mean it was done months ago what are we doing here while we’re waiting do you think that Portland stays at seven um yes because you still in a way you still kind of in a way get to dictate some of your own terms I know that SAR probably number one on their big board right sure but you assume SAR re sh gone Castle goes to San Antonio Houston might go Reed if they stay you might get some of what we’re talking about just falling into your lap it really might just fall into your lap and at that point you get to choose the best of whatever is there for you so I’m not going to put it past Joe to move ended up trading an hour for the draft today but yeah stay at seven see what happen shout out getting the work done early for those for those wondering uh we cannot ask Joe and staff about Denny tonight at the press conference he will come out before the cameras come on and say uh by the way I cannot and will not according to league rules address any possible reports about players that may or may not have been acquired today let’s get under which is so so very dumb like we all know this is happening what’s going to get held up in this trade I know once in a while it happens but come on man uh the the Hawks fans by the way shout out them filling up that arena for this they are they are the official pick is in here we go and it’ll be wow they I’m curious how far late January early February uh I had him third or fourth sec I don’t know it might have been second or third I had s SAR one and then I had Reay Williams Salon h I can’t remember who I had fifth might have had topic fifth then before he got hurt twice sure so I that was that was where where I was with all of that so um but yeah no I I I’ve had re Shay on my big board the very top top three for six months six months seven months whatever that is I love that the pick is in and we’re still listening to Malika Malika Andrews is like Adam just get to the podium buddy what are we doing I mean we we’ve got to sit here and Dink around with it also shout out all the Hawks fans they’re all wearing the Berets yes I love that you know yeah uh the comments are like yeah the pick us in it’s displayed on the screen for the last three minutes but yeah they’re a they’re a weird team by the way the Hawks yeah well no they because they make zero sense that’s what I’m saying like I just if I’m a Hawks fan I don’t what do we what are we when are we trading what are we doing who is it around like just very weird very weird vibe the Hawks here we go it’s got to be a great moment for a young guy it’s got to be such a that’s a just a Unreal moment you know what I mean like all your dreams kind of coming together and like oh get emotional cry do all there he is have some fun with it I like it first on Cuts 63rd percentile on putbacks 86th percentile on pick and roll the interesting thing here though is that his pick and roll volume was quite low for what you would expect a guy who’s consistently they got da though and then I’m like oh okay that kind of maybe tells me what the future might hold for that I like Donovan kingan I think he’s a really good basketball player I am one that loves that you come from a good system good coaching strong coaching by the way um played really well curious to see what his minutes production can be because he did it wasn’t like he was playing high high level minutes but a very effective player who worked perfectly within his system and I I I I know you’ve highlighted some of the things you’re kind of uh I I don’t know I say worrisome about but like some of the things you’re curious about but I think he’s the kind of player that works on things gets better learns takes good coaching um you know what I mean I just I I think he’s a very good player and then they ended up with a 69ine wing who already has played in the NBA I saw it with my own eyes I saw it in person and he averaged 15 points per game he had good shooting splits he’s 23 he’s got a very team-friendly contract I I don’t I don’t know how you can think this was a bad draft I guess the things that I have heard about kingan are incredibly high IQ player and the plus playmaking stuff like he’s able to read the floor incredibly well and I think you highlighted something there with you talk about the system that they play in at Yukon it is a very highlevel NBA system it is a ra and react system um there’s that that clip that went viral where they mentioned that each play has 12 different Action Reaction cuts into it that it’s like the NFL where you’ve got option routes but the entire floor is an option route yeah and it’s it’s not premeditated you’re reading and reacting and cling went Dilly by the way there it is Dilly Dilly they went castle and Dilly just want to a first round pick in 2029 and two second round picks the Blazers had nine second round picks to work with so whatever Malcolm Brock was on an expiring deal and they gave up their less favorable picks their second um the second one they have three of them so it’s like there’s a worst one they’ll keep that the middle one they’ll get rid of so yeah they’ll still have the best one in 2029 if you’re thinking about 2029 right now which is okay some people do I’m not one of those people um they still got two picks in 2029 from the first as you mentioned with the second they still got a ton of those they could use uh for any other moves they want to make um you know they got a 69ine players 23 and average 15 points per game and rebounds I I’m pretty I’m pretty okay with that personally yeah uh abdia is probably better than every player in this draft as far as all of the Wings are concerned somebody said that that the Blazers are going to regret if modus Falls to 14 I don’t think they are I I think they they got the player that in Denny AIA that’s probably going to be better than Maas ever is at this point and I’d rather have that especially when they’ve got it under his contract is is slightly more than like a top five pick like I just I just want to like people to think about that for a second can you explain that real quick to him for those who didn’t hear it he the is on a 4year $55 million deal and is a descending deal it’s at155 I believe this year and it goes down to 115 in year four it’s one of if not the best deals in the NBA for non rookie scale deals that’s thing and now we’re seeing you know kinging can’t move and I’m just like well I I mean I mean no disrespect to anybody in the chat but and we may not change your mind on how you feel about that uh Denny trade what I would add to it though too and it’s okay to say this because I’m putting myself kind of in this category probably didn’t watch a whole lot of Wizards basketball and and it’s okay if you’re not that’s what I like about that um as a uh as a rebounder because that’s what every wants to know um with Denny abdia on the floor I’m looking through through his career teams Rebound with him at a 93rd percentile on defensive rebounds and 60th percentile on offensive rebounds yeah no he um he rebounds for a forward his lowest rating across any position in his career is the 85th percentile on the defensive glass hey who what GM drafted Jaylen Brown uh Danny a what player would you guess Danny a is taking at number 10 Jaylen Brown’s not in this draft right but Danny Ang loves what weeks yeah My takeaways from tonight:
– Holland at 5?? Sell the team, Pistons
– Edey at 9… we done broke the Grizzlies, y'all
– Wizards were aggressive and made some very respectable decisions, for once
– Blazers front office finally proved their competence
– Lakers won big with Knecht at 17

Deni Avdija is best as a point forward. he played PG at high-school. they've changed his role from SF to point forward after the TDL and his numbers went to 20ppg 6apg 8rpg at that part of the season. ending with 15 6 4 the all season. True shooting 60%.

Blazers want to try to start winning now, Deni fits that timeline. Wiz are one year into a complete and total rebuild where they are still jettisoning players to acquire assets to build with. Seems like a trade both teams will be fine with. You all should be excited about what Deni can bring, he wasn't likely on the Wiz timeline anyway.
Thanks for breaking down that trade. That makes a lot of sense. Avdija sounds like a player that we were looking for in the draft and he is proven.
Another key detail: Deni Avdija is multi positional and he is a valuable asset now and into the future.
If Portland wins Cooper Flag or Ace Bailey next year, Deni can play along side them at either 3/4 position.
Also – in the Hypothetical situation we get a Cooper Flagg/AceBailey and Tumani takes a step forward to where he NEEDS to start over Avdija, Deni still is an incredibly tradeable and useable piece for ANY NBA team. He’s not going to lose much value, or inhibit our future flexibility. Great short term and long term move by Joe Cronin.
