Spurs DRAFT GRADES! Brian Wright DID WHAT? San Antonio Spurs News

Spurs fans anybody else disappointed that this coming season you’re not going to be able to say Fury for three three for four for GI what is up San Antonio Spurs fans welcome to TSR Sports TGIF hope you’re having a great day the weekend’s here and boy round two was also a surprise for us Spurs fans let’s just get into this I got two articles from pounding The Rock first we’re going to talk about what we did to our 35th pick I mean our 36th pick we’ll get into that in a moment so we drafted Juan Nunes with the 36th pick 6’4 Guard averag 10 points per game about five assists three and a half rebounds with shooting splits of 47 32 and 61 unit’s greatest strength is his passing ability and the pick and roll and I see a lot of comparisons to Ricky Rubio but not to the level of Ricky Rubio they pointed out a lot of negatives and I kind of feel bad but it is what is here on pounding The Rock Nunes is a poor perimeter Defender and is a very slow for a guard to put it in perspective he ran just 01 seconds faster than prudo big man Zack edting in the three quarter Sprint at the NBA draft combine I might be faster than him he still struggles with turnovers he suits just 32% from three which you’re talking about in 61% from the free throw line so he’s not a good shooter it’s likely that Nunes is a draft and stash pick I mean that we kind of figur that when we drafted him and we drafted Stefan Castle to hopefully be our point guard of the future this is another point guard so yeah the same we drafted two guards in a row the Nunes pick is a bit hard to swallow there was career Talent remaining on the board at 35 including Fury who was a better Prospect than Nunes Nia JK was there who may have higher upside drafting Nunes is another long-term move signaling that San Anton is remaining patient in its rebuild by selecting a draft and stash player they keep the cap flexibility how much counts a second round pick at 36 take up anyway I don’t know to acquire more assets this summer and Beyond the process makes sense even if the prospect is less than perfect and they gave this draft grade a scene sure I’ll go with a c on this and I want to talk about this before we get into our other pick so I didn’t like this move Fury was there at 35 we’re going to take him at 35 and just to get an idea of you know he’s grading out by the pce what the grade is with the Pacers taking him at 35 I pulled up CVS Sports little write up and here’s what they had to say about that pick for the Pacers quote Fury not only falling out of the top 20 but then out of the first round entirely was the biggest surprise slipped to me Wednesday this presents excellent value for the Pacers who traded for him giving him a young developmental Prospect who has size and shot making versatility unquote we need shooting and instead of drafting a prospect that can shoot and appear to be a steal at 35 we draft another guard who needs to work on his shot and as a slow guard apparently I would rather have traded the 48th pick away I look I hope nun I’m kind of at a loss for words when when when we drafted Fury at 35 I was excited I was like all right it’s a player that we can use whatever happens to the 48th pick don’t care I know we’re not in now now win mode but when don’t we want to take a player with higher upside some of you mentioned that maybe he was not willing to take a two-way contract Fury that is I don’t know the whole situation I just know this was not the best available Prospect we need shooting and to get another non- shooting guard and I’m not trying to disrespect Stephan castle by putting him in that category but that’s where he is right now and to do it again even if it is a draft in stash I don’t know maybe I’m missing something here maybe I’m just overreacting probably am but as far as the pick I’ll give the Pick A C like they did as far as the move the trade back I personally don’t like that I give that enough for a conglomerate grade of a Dean let’s talk about our other pick who I’m certainly much more positive on Harrison Ingram six foot sing and an 6 foot six Wing out of North Carolina last season average 12 points two assists nine boards 43% from the field but 39% from The Arc 51% from free throw line so two guys that can’t shoot free throws let’s talk about INR Ingram is a big strong Wing at 6’6 233 pounds he has a 7 foot wingspan which fits with the Spurs team that is moving toward length and versatility greed he’s an aggressive player with solid athleticism he showed the capability to switch onto faster guards and guard bigger players at the Collegiate level so far it’s good he’s a smart off ball Defender who has constantly rotating to block shots to take charges Ingam averaged 5.3 assists as a sophomore showing that he could have some upside as a secondary playmaker he can if he can space the floor with his shooting while playing on the interior the Spurs may have themselves a nice role player Ingram has a cap ceiling due to his inability to create space off the dribble currently profiles as a three wing who can do a bit of playmaking Ingram will find himself in competition with City Soko Julian champeny Malachi brandham and potentially another veteran player for Wing minutes next season no matter how they decide to utilize him H next you utilize him next season Ingram is a solid addition so late in the draft and they gave it a b much like the thumbnail I actually going to go a little step higher I’m G to give it a B+ I like this one I like this pick I mean picks this late in the draft you’re just throwing darts at the dart board and hoping to get the best out of the player I think that was a solid pick big guy a wing that can give him some some playmaking some shooting I mean is this hopefully he’s not a Julian champeny type 2.0 no disrespect to julan champeny but you know guy that’s just going to shoot threes and play some D does fall into the 3D but hopefully gives us a little bit more in that as far as Nunes a few of you are H him say man this kid can pass but everything else we read there was a lot there was a lot of negatives there on the pounding the rock article there was a few positives which of course he’ll share it but a lot of was regards to his passing but if he can’t play D or can’t shoot I don’t see him being a player that makes the roster Ingram yes on a two-way contract sure does he eventually make the roster maybe maybe not but i’ rather draft players with upside and right now honestly I’m just not seeing the upside what nun is when we had Fury there chk was still available the the the move I’m I’m I’m trying to put it together and I can’t the math is not math informing you know as the smoke has settled and the dust is cleared reading your comments doing a little research while draft night I was not thrilled we traded the eighth pick I get it okay I get it I would probably like draft Capital that’s maybe a little not so far away but maybe the timber bols will suck in 30 and 31 who knows but I get saving the money with the with the cap they didn’t think Dilly was the guy they didn’t think anybody that was around that number was worth drafting we’ve talked about a little on the channel I think Salon going at 6 kingan going at seven the Spurs are like we’re out you know what we have this pick we’ll see who wants it Timber said we want Rob Dillingham what are you going to offer per and they traded it away it is what it is the 2020 draft 25 draft next year is a much deeper and better draft we have a ton of picks in that draft so I’m cool with the move uh hindsight being 2020 maybe I’ll be cool with this move tomorrow maybe you guys give me some insight saying no TSR you know what this one you you’re kind of wrong on this one too this was a good move for us I would have rather taken the guy with high upside at 35 and then traded with a 48th pick if we’re worried about some kind of cap situation so that’s I got drop a comment down below your thoughts on both players both you know both players to trade would you have wanted Fury at 35 or Jers or somebody else do you think the Spurs blew it with this with that trade in the second round or was it the right move planning for the future hit the thumbs up like support the channel subscribe to become part of our awesome San Antonio Spurs Community hope you have a great weekend thank you and as always go Spurs go [Music] to

Round 2 just as crazy!

  1. cheap move: cash consideration to pick swap #36, that's the only reason…
    I guess Wemby doesn't sell enough…

  2. Juan Núñez looks decent , really good passer and the Jumpshot doesn’t look broken . Plus he plays against veteran players so I think he would be able to adjust.

  3. Reminded me of last season. The Spurs could have used the guy they traded to who? Minnesota. Furphy was a 1st graded pick. That said Nunez is a fun prospect who should make plays in the Summer Leagues, but both second round picks left a lot to desire. I think Justin Edwards was still on the board and he was a former Top 10 prospect. We kicked the ball down the road to position better for next season's draft.

  4. I was more excited with us drafting Furphy than Castle … aaaaaaaand we traded him for a player that can’t shoot and can’t defend and we get some cash? These are billion dollar organisations, and you move down a spot for a few thousand dollars? It doesn’t make sense to me
    F-

  5. I have been binge watching Nunez since we drafted him and his passing is amazing he has great vision. He is our future PG mark my words i have to say i'm really impressed with the kid. Had no idea who he was but the more videos i watch the more im sold

  6. I feel like this draft was a big missed opportunity, having tunnel vision for Castle at 4 blinded the spurs, we could've selected Saluan at 4 which is a better weapon in my opinion, we could've got Topic at 8 and Djursic at 35, that would've filled out our team tremendously

  7. Nunez and Wemby played against each other in Europe and won various awards together. I’m sure Wemby knows him fairly well.

  8. To answer your question no I'm not disappointed. He's also a draft and stash dude he's got time to get better. This guy is a trade piece as well so there's that.

  9. Nunez is prolly the best fit for the spurs lmao just admit you’ve never seen him play he’s as creative as topic

  10. This is a placeholder draft TSR. We were going to go anywhere no matter who we were going to get if we make incremental improvements this year this season we can take the leaps we need starting next year.

  11. Albany ga ray Charles home town in here ,,Nunez like another ginobli ,, back of my mind another big man, but im thinking without injuries we good

  12. Nunez is going to surprise plenty of naysayers. Court vision is the most critical attribute for a PG to possess.

His knowledge will transcend the court and make everyone around him better. Having court vision and seeing plays unfolding while pointing out the intricacies to others. Can only help a team.

We got someone who will undoubtedly improve our other PGs abilities. Helping Wemby get free to impose havoc at a higher rate. I only see great things in our future.

  13. I felt like Nunez was the only one that could have saved this draft class for spurs 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️ better than nikola topic low key with better 3point shot and plays defense from what i seen last year and could be our pg of future 6'5 passing beast if run nunez/devin/castle/jeremy/wemby and second unit trey/malaki/julian/mamu/collins we good 😅

  14. Reading a report is different than looking at him play. I’m sure some said the same exact things about an unknown Argentinian player selected in the second round by our Spurs. Look past the report and pay attention to the experience and feel for the game he has. Chill👍

  15. Maybe those 2030 picks can be used next year. A scenario i would love is. Spurs sign Hartenstein to start this year and then be our backup next year. Develop Cassel and Nunez. Nunez becomes backup point. Move Cassel over to SG then draft Traorie, and then Hugo to be our 6th man. Trade for Hauser. So starting unit would be Traori, Cassel, Vassel, Sochan, Wemby. Bench would be Nunez, Hugo, Hauser, Mamu, Hartenstein. Plenty of length with great defensive starting unit, and potentially a high scoring bench unit.

  16. I don't agree. Nunez is a good pick. I saw him last year because I am from Germany. Good Playmaker. Very high IQ, great courtvision, very good in the Pick'n Roll, good Handles. His shot is streaky but he is a true Point guard because he loves that his Teammates looks good. Ulm is a great Spot for young players. Orange Academy is a big campus for developing young players from all over Europe. Jeremy Sochan was there before he goes to Baylor. Pacome Dadiet who goes to New York was there too.
I like that move. He is a Pro now and when he stays in Europe he will develop because of the competition. Here everybody talks thaat he goes to Barcelona. So he can play Euroleague.
