The Brooklyn Nets SAVED Their Franchise

the Brooklyn Nets might have just saved their franchise big news from the NBA ahead of the draft on Wednesday the Knicks have added another former Villanova player to join their other three and Shawn Marx is owed an apology can somebody explain to me how Shawn Marx has his job because he just turned a 27-year-old zero time Allstar into four unprotected first round picks a protected first round pick and an unprotected pick swap as well as boan bogdanovich who might even get you a couple of second rounders as well but the biggest move Brooklyn made in all of this was regaining their 2025 and 2026 first round picks I can’t emphasize enough how insane it is that Brooklyn were able to regain control of those picks if you want any idea as to how big a deal that is this is what Rockets fans were saying after the trade was initially made because had Brooklyn not been able to regain their own picks they would have been entering the 2025 season with their two best players being cam Johnson and cam Thomas and no control of their draft Capital effectively tanking but without their own picks to show for it but somehow some way they managed to convince the Houston Rockets that instead of securing two guaranteed top five picks in the next two drafts to pair with your young team they would rather take a chance at bringing in a 35-year-old Kevin Durant to to pair with oh Fred Van vate and Dylan Brooks because if you can’t win with Bradley Beal and Devin Booker Fred Van vate and Dylan Brooks are going to be so much different but anyways the Brooklyn Nets now have a chance at not just any topend draft pick a player in kooper flag who is a truly Elite Prospect and not just kooper flag either it is widely reported that both the 2025 and 2026 draft is considerably stronger than this year’s draft look at the 2025 draft which is loaded there is real star power in next year’s draft the Nets have four first round picks potentially in that draft which makes Shawn Marx’s decision to try and compete this season before eventually blowing it up heading into next year look considerably better than it once did and we need to take a step back and realize what the Nets have now gotten for Kevin Durant in total the Nets have received four first round picks and a pick from Phoenix for KD some of which were then swapped back with Houston to go along with four more unprotected first round picks and a pick swap for Macau Bridges I don’t know if I’m ever going to get my head around that deal with Cam Johnson still on the roster in short the Nets will likely end up with 10 first round picks for Kevin Durant but not any version of Kevin Durant a 34-year-old Kevin Durant coming off an ACL injury and an Achilles injury 10 10 10 first round picks and all of a sudden any kind of decisions they made regarding James Harden and Kyrie Irving are a thing of the past because they’ve managed to recoup everything and more and all of a sudden a franchise that looked completely desolate is now one of the most asset heavy teams in the league but there is one part of this trade that we shouldn’t Overlook it’s not the pics it’s not the tanking everyone thinks the happiest people in New York are maau bridges Hart Dante de venzo and Jaylen Brunson right but there’s one basketball player that is even happier his name is Cam Thomas Thomas dribbling goes to the corner High arching three it’s good because we are about to see the most insane season of all time cam Thomas is either going to turn into the leading scorer in the NBA or he’s going to shoot 38% from the field and lead the Brooklyns to Cooper flag either way it’s going to be fun to watch and just for an idea as to how rally confident he is this is rookie cam Thomas talking about him as a rookie versus Kevin Durant I say I think I’m a better score than him at my age than he was and he doesn’t he doesn’t believe that he never wants to play me one-on-one so cuz we play one-on-one shoot around one time post UPS I beat him don’t tell him that I beat him that was more than ridiculous in that season cam averaged eight points and 17 minutes a game yet was comfortable comparing himself to a player who many consider the greatest scorer in NBA history and whilst that might be overselling himself just a little bit he can really really score the basketball and this is such a unique situation where he will have a chance to prove just how good he can be and for the last 18 games of last year are anything to go by the Nets might have a building block to work with with Cam averaging just under 27 points four boards and four assists on decent efficiency over those games particularly good considering the type of shots he was taking and when I say the type of shots he was taking just look at the second’s last game of the season vers the Knicks where he dropped 41 points with the player who Brooklyn just traded only scoring Five Points in that game but that that’s an unnecessary jab to make still some of the buckets he was making were ridiculous just look at this play which is a complete mess he loses the ball a couple of times and with his shot clock expiring he just goes to a step back three from about 30 ft out and drops it in or this time where again Devan chenzo is right up on him defending him really well and what is that an underhand hook shot off the wrong foot with a Defender draped all over him well how about this time in transition with the shot clock just starting he thinks about pulling the three hesitates for a second before pulling it and banking it in thought about it and launches it and Bs it in and those shots might not be the most convincing ing because they are head scratchers to say the least but he is genuinely a very good scorer like watch him here hit Dante with the in and out before freezing him with the fake hand off and then floating it in over Sims or him navigating the screen this time using the Escape dribble to create some separation from Robinson and look at the Ark on the midi this is what you get from cam Thomas you were going to see some shots that almost no one in NBA history would have the conf Ence or audacity to even try let alone pull off Thomas dribbling goes to the corner High aring three it’s good but in that mix of wild shot selection is someone who is good at navigating screens in the pick and roll and pulling up from 2o range or three-point range as well as getting downhill and to the rim either finishing or drawing contact all of the necessary skills to be a very good NBA scorer the only thing stopping him from getting that great light on a better team is more to do with his decision making both as a passer and as a scorer and cam Thomas isn’t the only potential future piece on this roster a lot has been made of Nick Claxton on a contending team but if Brooklyn can keep him at just 25 years old he’s someone that could fit that next timeline and whilst I don’t think he’ll ever be an Allstar level player he’s really damn good as someone who gives you defensive versatility capable of switching onto smaller players in the pick and roll whilst also still having the size and verticality to be a top tier rim protector to go alongside some pretty nice touch and a legit lob threat as long as Spencer dwy isn’t throwing the lobs but whilst those two guys are talented and it’s going to be fun to watch cam Thomas rotate between prime James Harden and Washington Jordan pool on a night toight basis all of this is inconsequential in the grand scheme of saving your franchise from being stuck in mediocrity for the next 10 years now if you made it all the way to the end of this video and want to see more content like this all throughout the trade period the draft and just going forward consider subscribing it’s free dropping a like on the video would be greatly appreciated have a great day bye

  1. Nah, this is the SECOND time Sean Marks made something out of nothing for Brooklyn. We need a vid about that too

  2. This is the kind of package you make for a superstar, not a 0 time all star. Leon Rose is a fraud

  3. Trading for those Knicks picks is good, but GETTING THEIR PICKS BACKS is out of this world. They really destroyed the Rockets with this one. Like holy cow

  4. As a rockets fan I really don't get how we just swapped Nets picks against Suns picks and didn't even get more picks or a role player out of it. I mean we had ALL the leverage in this deal??

  5. The Koch Brothers own the Brooklyn Nets. When the family that secretly runs the United States of America owns you, things are forced to go your way. Mark my words the Nets will receive the #1 pick next year and draft Cooper Flagg

  6. The entire nba community forgot how great of a GM Sean marks was. He rebuilt the nets without any picks. This time he has his picks and more. Watch out

  7. I love how u mention Spencer Dinwiddie about lobs, that man been gone for awhile lolll, we got Dennis Schroeder from that trade between spence lol

  8. There was competition.

"The Nets had pursued star-level players to pair with Bridges, but they didn't become available to them, and Brooklyn ultimately found itself with several teams, including Memphis and Utah, willing to offer significant draft packages for Bridges early this week, sources said."

The Knicks had competition for Bridges.

  9. I've already seen all the videos on the subject, but when a word like UNTHINKABLE is written in capital letters, I just have to watch another one.

  10. I love Thomas he needs to not try to get wins get COOPER FLAG and pair them with each other
