Kel’el Ware Selected By Miami Heat With Pick #15 In First Round Of 2024 NBA Draft – Reaction
[Music] the heat kept their 15th overall pick and went with the center out of Indiana khle wear we’re going to talk about who is available for Miami to select and why they went with where but initial thoughts and reaction to this pick Heat fans you wanted to add size to this roster you wanted to move babo to the power forward position and get a center to play alongside IDE him many of you wanted Zack Ed I never bought into that fit kle wear is someone I do believe can fit with the Miami Heat because of his length his Mobility his three-point shooting upside and overall we’ll talk about who was on the board in a second in a little upsetting that they didn’t go that direction but I do understand The Pick of kle wear before we do go in depth though I need your initial reaction grade The Pick of kle wear for the Miami Heat a B C D or F sound off in the comment section on what your thoughts are on the heat drafting the seven-footer from Indiana now let’s give some background in information on kle Weare because he’s 20 years old he actually started his career at Oregon before he transferred after one season to Indiana he’s 611 basically 7 feet with shoes on with a good wingspan as well which Heat fans are going to know I’m a big fan of wingspan and I want my players to have a plus wingspan what is it 74 and a half so a plus four and a half wingspan is absolutely terrific and you see my rankings for him overall he was my third overall Center and 14th on my big board so that he technically get value here as they use the 15th overall pick on him and looking more in depth on where he’s got terrific versatility for his size he can play on the perimeter he could anchor your defense and his athleticism is someone that that he absolutely need he’s a great athlete who just has unbelievable leaping abilities like from day one he is going to be an above average lob threat and shot blocker for the Miami Heat he can run the pick and roll exceptionally well now I don’t want to go into the negatives but the concerns with him is that one he didn’t play well against good competition in college when he matched up against Zack EDI Donovan kingham the Kansas Jayhawks the Auburn Tigers four really good teams and two good centers he struggled he didn’t really perform that well and we mentioned the work ethic and motor as well he took some plays off at Oregon and that was one of his biggest concerns but if you remember we actually did an entire scouting profile on kalal wear a month ago where we dedicated a full 10 12 minute video breaking down him as a prospect and why he could be a target for the Miami Heat and what did I say at the end of that video you can go back and pull up the film I said if Pat Riley does his due diligence he does his homework him and Eric fola check off on the work ethic check off on the motor this is someone I’m absolutely comfortable taking due to the Heat’s need for size and a floor spacing Center that can play alongside bam at a bi and that’s kind of where I want to go with this and why I think he is a good fit with Miami you guys wanted Zack Edy I never saw him as a fit cuz he could never play outside the paint if he was on your team and when he was on the court you would have to play in drop coverage or play a Zone the entire time that simply is not possible in today’s NBA and it’s why I never view Zack Ed as someone who’s going to be a massive rotation player for a contending team kle where is someone that can give you that he can step out to the perimeter and use his lateral quickness long arms and athleticism to contest Wings contest guards on their shots from the perimeter but also recover and just re shots inside the paint and be a defensive anchor I am a fan of this PE we’re going to have more conversation on his comparison how he will fit with Miami and why I do think there was a better pick to go here in just a second but make sure you are subscribed to the channel we’re breaking down this pick in depth with analysis we’re going to have another video at the end of the night giving my official grade for this pick as well as some second round targets and we will be back live tomorrow for the second round of the the draft as the heat do currently hold the 43rd overall pick in the second round hit that sub Button as we get back into where though we haven’t really talked about what he did production wise for Indiana in his second Collegian season he played 32 minutes a game for them so he was able to play a lot of minutes he averaged 16 points per game 10 rebounds two blocks and had a 58.6 field goal percentage and 42.5% from three and before you run to the podium and be like holy crap 42 % from three like this guy’s unbelievable it was only on one and a half three point attempt so the volume is not that high but the potential of him being someone that spaces the floor as a three and D Center is absolutely there and when you watch his shot form it’s a form that you can get behind and trust that the Heat’s developmental staff can get into we know that the Heat have one of the best staffs in the entire NBA in terms of developing shooting Tyler hero Duncan Robinson Caleb Martin Haywood heith like I trust this system to get kle wear up to a consistent 36 37% three-point shooter which is why I do like this pick for Miami because if he’s able to do that then you can move bam to the four and you could play kle we at the five if I had to predict what happens year one I think we is probably your backup center which was a need for Miami with Thomas Bryant sticking up the joint and Kevin Love getting up there in age but year two year three where and Bam could be your front Court of the future which also begs the question where do the he view Nia yovic Long Term because if they view where and Bam is your front Court of the future is yic going to be a three or are you dealing him to try to get a win now piece for Jimmy Butler and Bam right now that’s intriguing before we close out Today’s Show wanted to give some love to the ringers Kevin oconor who had a little excerpt on kle a dunk contest worthy athlete with phenomenal size and length he’s an eager shot blocker with excellent timing and he has good mobility and makes quick second leaps he hops into his shot and cleanly transitions into his high unblockable release his percentages need to catch up but his touch is a positive indicator kind of just goes to the point I made about him having a lot of upside to be a three and D center for the Miami Heat which we talk about it all the time their team needs they need a functional size and back short back backourt shot creation well functional size check it off I’m not shocked they go where here and with that 43rd pick they’re likely going to go with a wing piece like a Harrison Ingram maybe they even go Jamal shed a Jaylen Bridges from Baylor we’ll talk more in depth about that later tonight in tomorrow morning before the second round but I do expect them to go guard or wing with pick 43 but let me know who should Miami draft in round two drop a prospect’s name for me me down below and I already gave you three I’ll give you more later tonight and before we get out of here make sure you do subscribe to the channel cuz we’re going to have another video tonight we’re also going to have more content tomorrow live one last thing before we actually do get out of here and we’ll talk about this when I give my draft grade tomorrow or tonight too I’m a little bummed that they didn’t go Dalton connect he was my seventh overall player on my board I thought he could be a good cheap Duncan Robinson replacement where you deal Duncan away you get connect for 4 million CU that’s what the 15th pick is going to make and you save 14 mil and you get an equal shooter with a lot of upside they end up going with the big I also would have liked Jared McCain I understand the pros and cons of McCain in compared to we but the heat ultimately needed to add size alongside bam and behind bam and they gave that the priority so they go kware the center out of Indiana see you with a video later on tonight go Heat [Music]
The Miami Heat selected Kel’el Ware with the 15th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft after the Heat news of extending Bam Adebayo earlier today. Ware joins Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro and Nikola Jovic on the Heat roster. How will Erik Spolstra and Pat Riley incorporate the big man? Nic Rohloff breaks it down on today’s Heat Report!

Kel’el Ware college stats and highlights for Indiana basketball:
15.9 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 1.9 BPG, 58.6 FG%, 42.5 3P%
Nic Rohloff’s Kel’el Ware scouting profile:
GOODS:
– Ware has terrific versatility for his size.
– Great feel on the defensive end. Knows when to drift in drop coverage and wait for the guard to make his move before Ware contests. Ware also didn’t bite on a lot of pump fakes. Stayed down.
– Improved his scoring at all levels. The 3pt shooting is there but was shot at a really low volume (1.3 3PA)
– Great athlete. Skies in for rebounds and put-back slams. Will be a lob-threat from day 1 on rolls to the rim.
BADS:
– The motor is a legit question. Took plays off at Oregon as a Freshman before transferring to Indiana.
– Lean frame which needs to add 15-20 lbs in added muscle to help set better screens. Inconsistent screener.
– Struggled against top competition in college basketball (Edey, Clingan, Auburn, Kansas)
Kel’el Ware player comp: Myles Turner

I’m happy with Kel Ware.
i still think if Eady had been there the Heat would have went with him
Eady but he got taken silently at #9
K-Ware can be a monster. Let's go!
terry, bam, jovic, bam and ware starting 5!!! 🔥🔥🔥
You're microphone volume level sucks!!
He’s A🎉🎉🎉
The Heat always draft picks from the Big Ten. Flint Michigan Stand Up. Glen Rice. I love the Heat pause😂. But that's a great Pick. He got the Heart ofK.G on Defense. Bam can play the 4. 💪💪💪💯💯💯
That's whta miami need big center>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
They should also take PF to compete with Denver
Im just nervous he'll be another Beasley type of guy. Huge talent with quesionable work ethic. He has all the tools to be ROY, though.
Great pick if Jimmy Butler stays Heat will beat the Celtics might even win the championship. Heat has length but the Heat need a ball handler they need a point guard badly Jimmy can’t run the point all game his a small forward and shooting guard. It will tire Jimmy out if he keeps running the point. The Heat defense will be harder. His 7 footer his a center. Bam play defense and Ware play defense. Heat are cheap. I think Jimmy might leave if they don’t pay him.
big men with versatility or just big men, should really be paying attention to the coaching that is being done in bloomington, as far as developing them for the next level…..woodson has produced nba caliber big men, who had potential and borderline nba talent, some more than other's….ware was projected prior to going to playing at oregon as a possible late lottery to late first round pick and played himself into not even being drafted after his 1st year in college…AMAZING what woodson was able to get out of ware, also how TJD progressed throughout 2024 and ballo and reneau will be logging nba minutes within the next year or two!!!!
I would have taken Kenecht from Tennessee however its spelled
Ware is the perfect fit for Miami from the Real; grade A.
Glad the heat select this big fela,,, and i would love too if the heat draft BAYLOR SHEIERMAN or ADEM BONA at the 2nd round at #43! Lets go! 🔥
Eddy moves better than you think, the guy is a worker and he does what's asked of him. So I have no idea what your talking about. Ware got absolutely roasted by Eddy! I can't believe we took a guy, you have to beg to play hard, that's what you don't get! Look at Miami's roster, everybody gives extra effort, now we got a guy who plays when he wants too….
A
If his motor is low, Im not sure if Heat culture is for him.
His ceiling is way up there. A Grade.
B
We filled out a position we needed. Motor and work ethics need to be seen.

Pass A+
B, Heat need to increase its size. You have to benchmark your team against Denver.
