Dejounte Murray to the Pelicans is SHOCKING…

yo what’s going on y’all it’s con back here again today with another video and we’ve got some breaking news Deonte Murray was just traded to the New Orleans Pelicans a deal that didn’t feel impossible there were a lot of Rumblings about Deon getting traded this summer and I’m pretty sure the Pelicans came up at one point or another as a potential destination but it happened right now 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night the deal is deante solely to the Pelicans in exchange for Larry an Jr Dyson Daniels and two first round picks a lot to impact with this trade I want to start from the Hawks perspective and then get into what this means for New Orleans cuz obviously they got the biggest name in this deal let’s start off with Atlanta this is a trade that they had to go ahead and make they could have done it with a number of teams but they had to trade Deonte Murray because the experiment wasn’t working I was never a fan of adding dejonte to the Hawks it always felt like a little bit of a clunkier fit Than People realize in that backourt sure the theory of adding a defensive point guard or defensive guard in general next to Trey made sense but he never felt like he’d be a great off ball player TR was or that type of guy and it was clunky the Hawks have not reached the levels they got to in 2021 when they made the Eastern Conference Finals with this duo in town they gave up a lot of assets to make it happen and here they went ahead and cut it short we knew they were trading one or both these guys and for the moment they’ve traded one over to the Pelicans and I’ve seen a lot of people say the Hawks got fleeced in this deal I don’t really agree I think they got good value back for deante Murray who hasn’t played the best over the past couple of years his value has certainly gone down from when they traded for him they got two first round picks some good draft Capital there LaRon n Jr who you can flip maybe for another first round pick or at least some other Capital whether it’s at some other point during this summer it’s throughout the season you let him build up some trade value playing with you over in Atlanta and then you deal him to a contending team at the deadline there’s a lot of ways you can go and then Dyson Daniels who’s a really intriguing young prospect that hasn’t gotten a ton of chance to spread his wings and not a lot of opportunity to have the ball in his hands to make plays over there in New Orleans because they’ve got a lot of talent between Siege and Ingram and Zion he always kind of faded into the background a little bit despite being a top 10 pick and now he’s got the chance to Blossom over there in Atlant and he joins an interesting young core with Zachary rishe who just became the number one overall pick you’ve got jayen Johnson who was amazing last season and yeka Kong wo who could get more minutes if they now trade Clin capella it’s not like one of the best young cores in the NBA but it’s a pretty intriguing one nonetheless so I don’t agree that the Hawks got fleeced ultimately I think they got a pretty good return for dejonte Murray but of course course this brings about the question what does this now mean for Trey young that’s the next big question they have to answer because in theory this feels like a rebuilding package they didn’t get back any really good players to help Trey young out I guess larance JR could and Dyson Daniels can show up your defense a little bit but neither one of those guys are going to take you from a non-playoff team to a high level playoff team it’s just not going to happen unless they’ve got other moves in mind so with this deal alone it feels like they’re probably going to lean towards trading Trey young which is the move that I would probably consider making if I were the hawk you can get a lot of value back from you can get some really good assets sure talents like try young don’t come along often if you’re the hawk so that could be a strong reason to keep him but I doubt try young wants to hang around for a rebuild so it wouldn’t surprise me if a trade request becomes pretty soon on the table however the big issue is to get de jonte Murray they gave up all their first- round picks for the next few years over to the Spurs so they don’t have their first- round pick this year so if they try try young Bott him out there’s a chance they give the Spurs Cooper Flack and as a fan of a team in the Western Conference please don’t give the Spurs Cooper flag we cannot have him next to wemi that would be a disaster so maybe it makes sense to trade try young over to the Spurs if you’re going to move him at all and try to get your first round picks back we saw the Nets and the Rockets Make a Deal like that after the Nets Tred away Mel Bridges to get their selections back to allow them to tank more effectively and now they can go ahead and continue their fire sale I think for the Hawks that makes a lot of sense I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what we see getting a guard for wemi does make a ton of sense somebody to get him the ball to be able to space the floor and just give him a high level talent to elevate the spers timeline quickly because wemi is ready to win now also something that’s interesting it just got reported I lost the Tweet but it was from some ESPN NBA reporter that the Spurs went ahead and for the moment push back the guarantee date of Devonte Graham’s contract which can make them a little bit more flexible and pulling off a deal of some kind if this does come to fruition I don’t know if it has anything to do directly with the try young deal but the timing does feel a little bit strange so that’s something to keep an eye on and if Trey goes over to the Spurs him and wemi would be a terrifying Duo it’s just a matter of if the Hawks are willing to pull the trigger let me know what your thoughts are on the triy young situation because it’s one of those debates that I could be swayed one way or another I think there’s convincing Arguments for every single possible outcome and I don’t know if it’s really eminent I feel like this is one of those situations we could see really drag on into July and August depending on how active the Hawks want to be then we get to the Pelican side of things where this is incredibly interesting they are one of those teams that’s kind of been stuck in the middle in the Western Conference they’ve had some really good runs like last season not this past one but the one before where they were the one seed for a little bit with Zion carrying them he looked amazing Ingram was hurt but then they eventually slid down the standings after Zion got injured they’ve tried it a couple years before couldn’t really keep their guys on the court and this season even though both of them were out there for a majority of the year it just wasn’t enough to keep up with the top teams in the west and then Zion did get hurt in the playing game got swept by OKC they had to make some type of move they had to switch this roster up and deante is definitely a big addition that changes the dynamic of this team I’m hopeful that Deon can be better here in New Orleans because in Atlanta he was put into that heavily offensive focused role which saw a massive decline in his defense I’m hoping now that with the Pelicans they’ve got multiple scores like Zion and CJ and maybe Brandon Ingram who we’ll talk about in a moment as well as like Trey mury this is a team where dejonte doesn’t need to put up like 20 points per game or around that for them to be successful it can allow him to focus a lot more on the defense in the playmaking just being the allaround winning contributing player that he was when he was in San Antonio in that season before the Hawks traded for him so I’m hopeful this can be a spot where he kind of recoups some of his value refines the player that he was with the Spurs but at the same time it does still feel like a pretty clunky fit overall with the roster he doesn’t fix their issue which is that they don’t shoot a lot of Threes they’ve never been a volume shooting team even though they shoot a great percentage Deon is not a guy that’s going to add efficient volume threep Point shooting you don’t want him doing that that’s not really his type of play you still got Zion and Ingram who don’t do that either so that’s a weird Trio to have kind of your team built around CJ kind of does that but I don’t love the fit of CJ and Deonte over there in the back court so that’s a little bit funky it’s a weird looking team at the moment but it’s the start of the off season I don’t think this is where the Pelicans stop at all I think they’ve got to make some more moves and I do believe that they will it starts off with Ingram what are you going to do with him going from here all the reports have been that they would like to keep him but they don’t want to pay him the money that he’s asking for and so he’s good to go somewhere else or just play out this last year of his contract the Pelicans probably don’t want to lose him for nothing so I still do think there’s a good chance ingr gets traded and that could be the way to go whether it’s to upgrade at that Wing Spot find a player that fits this team a little bit better or it’s to try and find somebody that answers your current hole at the center position because Jonas funis is a free agent he’s not a good fit for this team please don’t bring him back right now you have Eve Mei who could theoretically start there but that’s a lot of pressure to put on a rookie big who also does not space the floor so I would imagine they’re looking for some type of big that can do that that can be a force from day one one so maybe Ingram is part of that trade we’ll have to see what actually bigs are out there but I could see that being a way that they deal Brandon Ingram maybe they just bring in a couple of solid pieces or some draft Capital to then flip for a big maybe they do keep Ingram but I think it is kind of a weird fit if they do so I’m having a hard time picturing what their starting lineup will even be like will it just be CJ dejonte Ingram Zion and someone at the five like playing your core four guys and then whoever you grab they at the center spot if they keep this team intact the way it is could you maybe move CJ McCallum to the bench and have him be like that super six-man and then it’s deante you could put herb Jones in there if you want better defense in the starting lineup and have Murray running the point guard spot or you could add Trey Murphy if you’re worried about the three-point shooting so you do have a lot of Versatility when building lineups with this team it’s a transaction that brings about a lot of questions for this Pelicans team and it’s one that I feel like is going to be pretty divisive throughout this summer I’ve already seen some people say they love it for the Pelicans they’ve made themselves one of the best teams in the west that de jante Ingram and Zion is an amazing big three they should not trade Ingram by any means and try and keep this thing together and they could be really really good I’m seeing some people say this was a disaster of a trade they don’t know why they went for deante that they have to trade Ingram there is no way that they can keep him on this roster if they want to be successful very Polar Opposites from what I’ve seen so far just scrolling through Twitter in the initial reactions regardless though it is definitely one of the biggest moves we’ve seen so far this summer but even with this move the Pelicans aren’t one of those top teams in the west there’s more work to be done this should not be the only Domino to fall it should be the first of many hopefully that is the case the Pelicans front office stays aggressive I like that they’re going for it the Westfield’s wide open why not try and go ahead and make a splash we’ll see if Ingram’s still here if they trade him if they keep CJ mccom if they trade him who’s the big man going forward can Zion say healthy because honestly none of this even matters they could build like the perfect team but if Zion can’t stay on the court it’s all just going to fall apart he is the lynchpin of the whole thing hopefully next season is actually his chance to do so and I do think by adding more players that can take some of that workload off off of him you give him a better chance to be ready for the playoff so hopefully that is what happens uh but yeah those are my initial thoughts on this trade for the Hawks I think they got a good return we’ll see what happens with try young because now that is the hot button issue in the NBA and then for the Pelicans it’s an interesting move I don’t love the fit right off the bat but again I think the roster is going to continue to change and I like that they’re being aggressive and trying to find their way towards the top of the Western Conference rather than just staying Pat in the middle we’ll see it goes I appreciate you watching let me know Down Below in the comments what you think of the trade leave a like subscribe if you enjoyed I’ll see yall later real one say it back

In a shocking deal, the New Orleans Pelicans have acquired Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr, and some picks. After months of rumors about Murray being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers amongst may other teams, he lands alongside Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and CJ McCollum as New Orleans tries to elevate themselves in the West, but many questions still remain. For the Hawks, this feels like it could precede a Trae Young deal, yet there’s complications there too due to the San Antonio Spurs owning their picks, although they may be willing to return them in order to get Victor Wembanyama a great guard in Trae. Let’s talk about it.

  1. Sorry 3cone we ain’t giving Atlanta back their picks. No way were gunning (tanking) for cooper Flagg. 2 opportunities for that Cooper Flagg pick. You can have the Wolves 2030 and 2031 1st round picks they gave us.

  2. This was one of dejountes best years yet I feel like he gets everyone involved while scoring at a higher vol then Trae

  3. It's a pretty fair trade, it's just that what the Pels gave up was extras and maybes, for a solid PG on a good contract. Total win for the Pels, I think DM will fit better and play better for us. Nance was a turnover machine last quarter of last year and needs a new contract, he'll be overpaid. Dyson love his def potential, but he was an offensive liability, and needs a shot of confidence driving the lane, too many kickouts when he had an ez layup. The two firsts were xtras for us, no big loss there…

  4. I’m not seeing the “fleece” everyone is talking about. Murray wasn’t gonna be on the team anyways to begin the season

  5. No the hawks got fleeced or however you worded it. He was only playing bad because his usage dropped significantly, he’s as good an all around player as Mikal Bridges, if he’s worth six picks Dejounte is worth at least 5 with the current market.

  6. a minute and a half into the video and i hear “flip larry nance jr for a first round pick” 🤣🤣🤣 prayers out to all atlanta hawks fans 😭

  7. I agree dysons defense was desperately needed. Hawks fans know they shouldn’t have done the Murray deal in the first place. We lost way too many assets. Our owners retarded son wanted it to happen even with our front office not agreeing. This is a great move on our franchises part unlike last year when we traded Collins for a pack of gum.Hawks are headed in the right direction 😂😂😂😂

  8. Pels replacing BI with DJ has got to be the most equal switch I’ve ever seen. They literally play exactly the same even down to there shot form.

  9. DJM had 4 times the points of Dyson Daniels. Why are people turning him into some big guard that will be legit. The man shoots 31% from three. Its a horrible trade

  10. The Spurs have said multiple times they are not interested in Trae Young. They just skipped picking Rob Dillingham who is a Trae young copy for less money, and picked a PG that is tall intentionally. Stop talking about the Hawks getting their picks back. Zero percent chance the Spurs are going to milk Atlanta for all they can
