Did Deni Avdija ask for a trade out of DC? Who are the most tradable players on the roster?
did Denny Avia ask for a trade out of DC ah maybe but I think we all could agree that the trade benefited both sides next on locked on Wizards you are locked on Wizards your daily Washington Wizards podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what’s up everybody it’s your boy Brandon Scott again and I appreciate you guys making lock on Wizards your first listen every single game time app create an account and use promo code lock on NBA for $20 off your first purchase terms apply so all right everybody a lot to unfold day a lot to talk about today um number one did Denny AA ask for a trade out of DC maybe or maybe not Sorcerers definitely differ and we’re going to look at uh the veteran pieces on this team and what are the chances that some of them are moved so we’re gonna look at who’s moved before the season who’s moved at the deadline and who may be part of the long-term vision of the team and I got information about summer league so we’re going to end the show uh talking about the dates and times and where you can watch summer league could be is right around the corner everybody so let’s get into it number one did Den AIA ask for a trade out of DC now there has been sources that argue either side there has been a source here and there that said that he indeed did ask for a trade out of DC now if you look at Bill Simmons anybody that follow or watches his uh his podcast on YouTube knows that Bill Simmons did say that he had a source that told him that Den AEL did want out of DC so and that was that was last season and so you know looking at that very well now there was people um especially people that said they knew Denny or there was um with sources in Israel said he indeed did not say that now One Source said that Denny the reason why they moved him to Portland it was because he closer to his family now I don’t know if his family lives on the west coast there are sources close to family said that they they indeed live in Israel so there’s a lot to it but I’ll say this obviously it would be really really cool to be a fly on the wall of the general manager’s office and see what really goes on behind the scenes what’s really been said but I’ll say this if I’m a betting man I would say there was probably a 75% chance of he asked out um it’s it’s clear that this team is officially balow kali’s team you know the keys have been handed to him he was the only untradeable asset you know I’m not gonna get back into the trade for Denny even though a lot of people include myself at first were upset but in everything’s in hindsight right and you know obviously taking time to think about it looking you know especially looking at the fact that Will Dawkins did his thing in draft well Dawkins gets a AA plus man and this was an Immaculate draft you know not only picking up Alex SAR who is a foundational piece a future star in my opinion alongside and and you know alongside BL kabali who you know he’s another player that I really really like and think can develop into a star so the tandem of B kabali and alexar both Frenchmen The French Connection is a very intriguing tandem in my opinion and it’s definitely a tandem that you build upon so I get why they traded Denny um I think the only thing is like I said I’m not going to get back into the trade I think that right now I’m looking towards the future it’s done it’s over and like I said I I it’s not that I didn’t think that we’re GNA move Denny because I think that eventually we were GNA move him because again you know he doesn’t fit the timeline by the time he’s out of his contract you’re gonna be willing to pay some of these young guys so I get why he did it and I think it was a good move by Will Dawkins wasn’t happy about it because just because of the fact that he was a homegrown talent but I get why I was done so uh but getting back into whether he ask for trade I I’m going say yeah I would bet and like I said I don’t have a source that was in the room but like I said just the fact that it was brought up in certain circles especially from people that are insiders in the NBA I’m G say he did because I think it became clear to Denny that this team was Bow’s team and it was time and he was best served on another team now Portland is not a contender even though I think that the best fit for Denny would have been a contending team but I think Portland’s a nice young team that could be scary in the next three to five years man you know if you look at what they got going on with shadon sharp they have going on with you know scoot Henderson they have a lot of nice pieces in Portland man and he’s gonna be a good addition but I come to terms with it man you know like I said I I thank him for his service in DC but I look to the Future and like I said general manager Will Dawkins ande uh president of basketball basketball let me get it out y’all uh president of basketball operations will Michael Winger and Travis schlink did an Immaculate job with his draft man so I think a lot of credit has to go to Will Dawkins because you you we truly are in a new era in DC as far as Wizards basketball man you know if you look at if you’re a commanders fan you know similar timeline you know new ownership over there new general manager new coaching staff so there’s a lot of optimism only with the Washington Wizards with Washington DC Sports because the Nationals another rebuilding team to get better so there a lot of optimism it should be because we’ve been through two really really tough erors under Ernie Grandfield and Tommy Shepard and Will Dawkins has proven that he is indeed the new sheriff in town and he did a great job with his draft so getting back to the point of Denny did ask out you know I think that this is definitely something I wanted to bring up but I think the real key is the draft benefited both sides you know he’s going to go somewhere where he can be a central part of what they’re trying to do in Portland and I think what he did with the 14th pick what the value he got out of the trade as far as getting a 2029 first rounder getting a couple second rounders you know Malcolm brogon is a very interesting piece because we know that you know he could be moved very well be moved before the season starts but he very well could be moved at the deadline also but he’s a tradeable commodity as long as he stays healthy Health has always been an issue with malcol Brockton but he’s a guy who has High basketball IQ he’s a guy that knows the game of basketball and you know we’re gonna talk about Koz in a little bit and Tai Jones a little bit but he’s definitely a guy that he can benefit the young guys with his experience with his leadership and he’s a guy that if you look at similar play style and Johnny Davis you know if you look at Malcolm brockton’s game he’s not a guy who really relies on speed he’s a player who successful because of his footwork his basketball IQ his finesse I think that you let him work with Johnny Davis and you try to at least give Johnny Davis one more year and see what you have so you know look at the Denny AIA trade you know whether he asked out or not I I would say he did because again it was pretty much writing on the wall that with this front office with him not being their guy you know Cory kissper Johnny Davis you know but ru’s already gone the main focus was B Kabal because he was the draft pick of this new regime in the front office and and I and I get why Will Dawkins did it so like I said um any criticism on the Denny’s trade it had a lot to do with the sequence of it not so much that it happened just the sequence of it because I believe that yeah you still make that move the move Denny if he in fact is not part of the long-term vision of this front office and I feel like you should have also moved L Sham in the K before last year before you because I think the biggest thing is this y’all um value you know getting value for these guys that are Zenith I believe that Will Dawkins got the appropriate value you got a couple first round picks and a couple second round picks and a young tradeable asset in malcol Brock so it was a good move now looking at K and like I said we’re about to talk about that but I believe the only thing was is just a sequence of events it was what the problem I had is that I felt like if you moved in it had to be after you moved KY kma or L Shaman and possibly even tus Jones because like I see we’re about to talk about in a minute but Ty Jones very well could walk for free so that was the only problem with it I think that he did a great job with the trade overall I feel like Will Dawkins rocked this this draft out and I gave him a a I’m just going to go ahead and give him a A+ because he did an M job in his draft I mean Alex har is gonna be a star easy I mean bub Carrington very well could be the future point guard for washing Wizards he’s got the intang that I love and Kon George man he’s gonna be a very intriguing piece on the second unit and it definitely The Scouting department and Brian Keef and David vanpool have to work for him because now is development time so look at back at Den AIA like I said there’s reports on both sides that ask whether you know they have different I guess viewpoints of whether he asked out or not but I’m G say he he did you know because the fact of the matter is when Bill Simmons said that and like I said hate him or love it you know whether you believe that Bill Simmons formerly of ESPN and other networks is a reliable source he’s a guy that definitely has you he’s he’s definitely a guy that has his connections to a lot of these front offices man so when he said that it kind I I do believe that I do believe that didn’t he possibly asked out because again it’s looking more and more that bacali is holding the keys to the franchise and look man he deserves if if that’s the guy then I’m ready like I said Denny before I move on man Denny definitely you know appreciate your service in DC man I hate him I love him young guy that got better every year you know whether you believe he’s a star whether you believe he was a role player he was a guy that that definitely definitely got better every year and you can you know looking at Wizards in their track record of developing Talent you can put him down on the list as one of the successes right because he was a guy that we did trick or we did draft we did develop him he did break out and he got better so that you know if anything that’s the Hallmarks of a kind of a an arrow point towards the right direction for the watchh Wizards that you know we have the capability to develop young talent and get them better so you know thank you for your service but I’m looking towards the future and I’m definitely again want to welcome Alex SAR Bob Carrington and kaon George to the nation’s cap and definitely very very very excited to see their development and how good they can be with the Washington Wizards and I’m definitely excited to see not only what Brian Keefe can do with them but how much better this team can get underneath general manager Will Dawkins so uh definitely comment below let me know what you guys think so next on the agenda what should one of these veterans on the roster look like they’re going to get moved and at what point and which ones could be part of the future we’re going to talk about that next but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by game time so as you guys know I am a sports fanatic I go to baseball games during baseball Fire TV channels app part of the locked on podcast Network your team every single day all right everybody let’s get back into it now as you know um I’m looking at five players that are veterans on the team who either a could be moved before the season starts B Be Moved at the trade deadline or C very well could be future peace maybe so let’s start with tus Jones and can the Wizards get a sign and trade for CH Jones big question right now because chances are you very well could see him walk for free now I’ve said this before with with numerous players whether it’s Kyle kumman whether it’s land shamut whether is tus Jones again you know and looking at you know maybe young tradable Commodities like Cory kisser Den AIA ruy haur which is if you move them you want to move them when their value is at a Zenith right with Denny Avia obviously Will Dawkins moved him when his value was at a Zenith now looking at K kma we’re about to but in tyus Jones last year when there was a offer of four second round pick should the Wizards have made that move and I’m say yes because yes he has value he’s shown that he can be a starting point guard now how many teams are looking for him to be that starting point guard it’s been known that he wants starter money he wants to starting point guard and he did well here in DC until he got hurt obviously but um you know he was that floor general you know he can definitely be a point guard for a rebuilding team because he’s looking to get other people involved as opposed to being a Score first point guard um he’s a guy that yes he could contribute as far as points you know three-point shooting mid-range you know his floater going through the lane and defense is something that is not GNA be Immaculate with tyus Jones even though at times it did get better and he showed a lot more effort on that end of the court but he’s mainly a floor General offensive point guard so um can they get a silent trade I’m think I think that will Dawkin is going to try to work out a sign and trade but I think the value is going to be lower than last year which was to me the highest offer was for second round picks so what are you really realistically looking at you’re probably looking at second round picks and maybe a young player that’s pretty much what you’re looking for and would that be worth it for somebody to do a signing train I’m G say no so I’m G say that this is going to be one of the few L’s that the Wizards are going to catch as far as I think that Ty Jones is going to walk for free and you know it is what it is obviously you want to get assets back you want get some kind of asset back for a player um the one situation it kind of reminds me of is the Washington Nationals with Bryce Harper you know when before they let him walk in free agency and then he subsequently signed with the Philadelphia Phillies um there was a deal in place that had the watch the Nationals trading Bryce Harbor to the Houston Astros for a couple reasons one there there was a chance that the Nationals wanted to get assets back and possibly resign him but but they didn’t end up making that move and they regret it because they got nothing thing for Bryce Harper and as opposed to juano where they got a lot of nice pieces and we’re about to get you know James Wood you know switch subjects real quick but James Woods get called up for unat fans he’s getting called up this weekend so but getting back to into it you do you do want to see this team get some value back for him but I don’t think they’re gonna get that because I don’t think that his value is gonna be high enough for a team to want to do a silent trade but I’m hoping that I’m wrong because I’m hoping that we can try to get a silent trade and get something back for ties moving on Malcolm Brockton uh the newer wizard now obviously we can’t officially finalize the trade sending Denny to Portland in exchange for the picks and Malcolm Brockton but um I see him as a guy who he could be moved at the deadline I don’t know if he’s gonna be moved before the season starts now if we retain tus Jones you very well could see Malcolm Brockton flipped because at that point you’re pretty much looking at Jordan P being a six-man and but if we don’t bring TI back I see Malcolm Brock being a six-man because you guys forget he did get a six-man of the Year award with the Boston Celtics and we know that Jordan p is is the type of player where he is best with the ball in his hands and that’s why I think that that fact along with the fact that we were number one in Pace in the second half of the last year his team wants to get faster if you look at the draft picks that we got was the one factor speed athleticism you know what I mean you know alexar is athletic he’s the guy who’s gonna flourish in transition you know so with a point guard like Jordan P I see alexar being not only a lob threat man but a guy is going to be able to get easy easy money in transition man because he’s a guy who’s very Swift on his feet at 7 foot one so um that’s why I think that Malcolm Brockton could get moved at the deadline I think he will get moved matter of fact I’m G pretty much say he’s pretty much he’s gonna get moved at the deadline and he’s prob he pretty much gonna be the six-man I would say that I’d be very very surprised if he’s a starting point guard because I think all arrows Point towards Jordan P being the man at Point uh if not long term at least for the next three years if not they try to move him to some point because look will will dawas is he’s pretty much put the legue on notice and says look we’re they’re scrapping everybody you know if you look at you the fact that Denny AEL was moved at age 23 that’s telling you that outside of Bel kulali and of course the guys you just pick and everybody’s up everybody’s tradable and you know Will Dawkins is definitely and you know what honestly um I like that because what did we ask before the season or before the Will Dawkins era do it the right way rebuild the right way do it don’t cut Corners do it the right way that’s something that both Michael Winger and will Dawkin said they’re not gonna cut corners and they’re not doing that they’re scrapping everything they’re trading everything that’s tradeable and I like it man you know like I said um few mistakes but overall I am enjoying his front office so getting back into it um Landry Shaman does he get move now I think that Landry Shaman out of everybody is the most tradable guy as far as being traded before the season starts because if you look at the fact that we got bub Carrington and kaon George couple guys that you know play play a guard position in the second unit man you know um you got Jared Butler so what do they do with Jared Butler obviously he slated to be the backup point so you know you you need to give minutes to these young guys but you know especially bu Carrington and kaon George we’ll see how they do in summer league but for you know and I think that may be a factor that holds back a potential land Shaman move you want to see how they do in summer league but either way we’re going into year two of a rebuild and you want to give Young you want to give minutes to not only Kon George but especially to Bob Carrington man because he’s that one guy that you know I’m not gonna say there’s pressure on him performing or living up to be to be something but again the fact that you moved to Denny AIA you want to see pay dirt out of bub Carrington but I think bub carring is gonna be good man so I think you know again the trade wasn’t well liked but I think in hindsight it was a good trade in my opinion so um I’m a big fan of wood Ain as you can tell because it’s refreshing to have analytical basketball Minds who make sound decisions and you know the fact that we sent we set through Ernie grunfeld and Tommy Shepard tells you that it’s it’s refreshing to have adults in the room in the front in the front office Man U so moving on Kyle kman when will he potentially be moved now uh towards the end of the draft in uh round one there were reports that the Washington Wizards were talking to the Boston Celtics potentially for the 30th pick and other picks for Kyle kma um he very well could get moved now looking at other factors why he couldn’t get moved you know obviously Team friendly deal it’s Team friendly not only for the watching Wizards but it’s Team friendly for perspective teams who may not want to break the bank to add a score like H kman they can add him at a very affordable price and again not break the bank to do so um his leadership his championship DNA ha or love the the bubble Championship he’s got a ring you know what I’m saying so he you know there there there factors you know he set up roots in the DMV he’s a guy that wants to be here and again looking at Kyle kosma and alexar to have people that want to be here is refreshing because we got people who are from DC don’t want to come to DC and play so I mean it’s refreshing so those are factors where I can see you know you know he’s got three years left on his deal so his his contract’s not not going to weigh us down and we could get better obviously you know especially if he changes parts of his game because like I said I I am a really big KY kma fan I like his game but he’s he definitely has to learn to find ways to get other people involved you know efficiency has been an issue but I think that he knows this and like I said previous conversation especially at the exit interviews at the end of the season that was a question I asked kman because I asked him I said look you know you got an NBA championship with the Lakers you become a leader of your own locker room here in DC what do you want to do personally next as far as a part of your game and it was easy learn to make people around you better so I think the K kusma knows that you know that’s one part of his game that has to has to change he’s got to find ways to get these guys around him better and I think he will so he could very well be a you know trade at the deadline I think they’re going to eventually try to get some value out of kakma especially if you look at alexar another thing to look at is alexar wants to play the four so you got the the history or not the history but the future power forward on the roster right now so at some point you’re going to give those starting minutes to galar so you can see him at the deadline being traded at the deadline you very well can see him maybe taking a reserve role towards the end of his uh contract a lot of variables but he wants to be here the organization likes him so and it’s not a real rush to make that move so uh moving on because we covered tyus Jones we covered Malcolm brogen we covered Landry Shaman and we have covered Kyle kman number five Anthony Gil now he is a free agent but and it’s not so much when he’ll get moved but I don’t see us being very active in free agencies so I’m gonna say resign Anthony Gil he’s a guy who is much needed for leadership if you watch him take a take a look at highlights from my observations just watching Anthony Gil um I’ve spoke to him a few times really nice guy um a guy that as you know doesn’t need to be a central figure he’s a guy who does all the little things that aren’t necessarily categorized diving for loose balls energy he’s you know he’s a hardworking guy and you’re not always G to find out on the stat sheet and he’s a guy who if you look at every timeout he’s the first guy on the court you know he’s always in the Huddle so I think that Anthony Gil know as a guy that you know he’s not gonna be essential part of the foundation going forward but I think that from a leadership standpoint you bring him back in my opinion so you guys definitely comment below let me know what you think and would you guys consider bringing back Anthony Gil because I would in my because I think he would be great for these young guys because he was a great leader and he’s a great voice in locking room in my opinion so you definitely if we’re not gonna be very active in free agency but I think if you make at least one move as far as free agents you bring back Anthony Gil in my opinion so um I got some important dates for summer league the League schedule has dropped so I’m going to let you guys know Brandon would you extend bagley? I think kuz and kispert gets traded but they will keep malcom brogdon
bro stop trying to protect the GM and there horrible decision to trade deni, a trade that make no sense a 23 year old talent for basically nothing is a shame.
The one thing I like about holding on to Kuz is that it pretty much guarantees if they trade him this offseason OR before the trade deadline they'll get a 2025 1st round pick (maybe even more) which is supposed to be a deeper draft. Ntm…..Deni got us 2 first….Mikal Bridges got the Hornets five 1st round picks. To me that means that Kuz should get the Wiz atleast 2 first. In Dawkins, I trust. Wiz are definitely doing a COMPLETE rebuild.
Wizards winning summer league if we have a lineup up Vukcevic, Sarr, George, Coulibaly, Harrington.
I don't care if he asked for a trade or not. He was a below average, easily replaceable 4, whose popularity was due to his nationality, not his basketball. There's a 14 and 7 power forward on every corner.
Thanks for the quick content. Idk if this team is Bilal’s yet. He needs to make a MAJOR jump for it to be his team but he’s for sure in our future
Deni didn’t ask for a trade no way he did. He literally just did an interview a week ago talking about how he feels the faith and trust the management has put in him and how much he wants to lead the team
man you crazy Deni never asked for a trade, he was expecting to lead the wizards next season. in my opinion, there's no place for Deni and coulibaly in the opening line up because the wizards Gonne use star in 4. coulibaly in 3. Deni is no 2. and as Deni is a decision of the old MG-it make it easier to choose.
Deni is not good. Ask yourself a real question is he good enough to lead us to a championship or any other team. No. He's not a number one.
Keeping Deni only makes you less likely to get Cooper Flagg. His moody and emotional ass was probably gonna get traded anyway eventually, so, it’s probably smarter to move him earlier rather than later. We all know the wizards have another 2-3 years of rebuilding, does anyone really believe Deni would stay quiet and not cause any issues during those 2-3 years? He’s a very dramatic guy who’s not afraid to voice his unhappy opinions
Hmm I think they are gunna regret this trade in the future.
High IQ wins you games, Team basketball gets you rings.
He dosent have to be the number 1 star on the team, but a very important piece.
I think He was suprise . Portland is not very popular place in Israel…😂
It was a horrible trade for the Wizards. At this point I would not have traded Deni for LeBron James. Watch….mark my words. He will become a big star in the NBA and he will absolutely scorch the Wizards.and make them regret the trade. How can you rebuild when you keep trading your young talent? Who's next Cory Kispert?
GM likes Deni. GM also wants Cooper Flagg next year. Deni is gonna win ytou games next year while you want to lose games. Deni gets you 4 picks. easy business.
Denni didn’t ask for a trade for sure, and the wizards made a huge mistake by letting him go.
Wiz fans backstabbers 👎🏻
Bro Brandon make a video about Jordan Poole or Bilal or Alex sarr. Quit making videos about people who aren’t on the team
Man yall need to get over Deni. Whether he asked to go or not he's gone. Bub gonna be that dude!!!! I'm cracking up Brandon thanked Deni for his service. 😂😂😂 ✌🏾
He was picked by the prior regime. I would not be stunned if he or his reps asked how/whether he fits in with OKC East. The new folks like length (which Deni doesn't really have).
I don't care what anyone says. Trading Deni was f'ing stupid.
Deni would have worked better with Sarr than Bilal. Bilal is a teenager, "his team" my ass…If was going to George Mason it wouldn't be his team… probably wouldn't start…
Should've moved Kuzma
Deni will do well in Portland until he gets tired of being hassled by skinheads. He'll probably drop forty on the Wizards every time he plays them
Are you out of your mind brandon?? Deni has no family in the states. They live in isrsel. Deni did an interview for israeli tv one day before the trade saying how excited is he getting back to dc. This shows me how stupid you are. You are the worst franchise in the nba
Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole and Bub Carrington will be traded to Utah Jazz for John Collins, Jordan Clarkson, Cody Williams and 1st round pick. Cody Williams will be traded to OKC for Oliver Saar.
Ayo trade brogan again or buy him out and bring John wall back to D.C I’m telling you let him mentor Carlton I can see them dancing and flexing on the side lines watch him make a dance called the Carlton dance like wall did with his shit would be so tuff 🕺
KeyShawn not KaiShawn
Not completely sold on this FO. They made a nice pick in Bilal but we got nothing for Tyus or Delon. Trading Gaff was ok since we got Sarr. Now this Deni trade, which I feel is very questionable. Why not keep him for at least one more year? Instead we trade him for a pick in draft that is not that great. If Bub pans out, fine, but at least you knew what you were getting with Deni and possibly more, and potentially able to trade him for a 2025 pick.
Kyle Coomza
I’m an Israeli deni’: family does not live in the west coast he’s mom lives with him and his dad is Serbian who lives in Israel at the moment and bilal celling at best if all workes out is og anonoby and you don’t build a team around og…
Deni loves dc and he talked about how much excited he is for this organisation future no way he asked out stupid trade for the wiz a total betrayal on deni
Been watching B’ball for a long time – I don’t know what y’all see in Deni – he’s a decent role player at best ! those young boys on teams like the Thunder, Rockets and Timberwolves were eating him alive …. Deni would have a good game every now and then but he was never consistent … I don’t see him ever being a solid number two , three or four on a contender, he’s like a decent player coming off the bench – like a seventh or eighth guy off the bench !
You heard it first. When Kuzma is moved, look for Patrick Baldwin Jr. to step up and become a core piece of the future
Alex Sarr will be a bust. Not to pick Dillingham just so foolish.
20:35 I don’t think Kuzma knows how inefficient he is at all and that’s why he continues to take all the touches and anywhere from 20 to 25 shots per game and get absolutely no one involved whatsoever. You can say that you’ve come to terms with the Deni trade right now because you’re seeing this young new core being advertised to you but in the end, Deni had absolutely no reason to be moved for Bub Carrington and the 2nd best of their 2029 picks😭🤣. What a joke. Deni translated to wins for this team. Kuzma translated to shots chucked up. Tristan Vukcevic had chemistry with Deni aswell. I saw those too going a long way. Kuzma is terrible for player progression because he still has yet to recognize his own role. I hope we can see Sarr fill in the holes of Vukcvics defensive game and vice versa for Vukcevic helping fill in for Sarr’s offensive lapses
He didn’t ask good luck with the Bilal team😅🤣
