Knicks Fan Rich Eisen on Team’s OG Anunoby Extension & 1st-Round Draft Picks | The Rich Eisen Show

and then there’s the New York nickers who earlier on Thursday trade away five first rounders five one two three four five first rounders to the Brooklyn Nets for Mel Bridges and uh maybe some push back in Corners to say that’s a lot of first round draft choices for a guy that you know he he’s he’s good good but is he that is is he that good like five first round picks and I’m like well a Nicks are didn’t even trade any first round picks for this year again the analogy to the other draft that I cover I could not imagine a player in the NFL of Mel bridges’ status and upside and that guy goes on a draft day trade for draft choices that aren’t even from the this year’s draft like that would that would set that that would that would make the Michael penck drafting in the NFL draft like a mere bag of shells like just any old day seriously if the NFL had a player of that caliber traded on a draft day and it didn’t even involve capital on that night’s first round that would just be like get out of here really that said I’m like so the Knicks might draft 24 they hope to draft 30 you know so you’re giving up that name of a player not even this year you’re drafting them next year and then you’re giving up one in 2027 you’re giving up one in 2029 you’re giving up one in 2031 and last night the Knicks with one of their first round picks drafted an 18-year-old so right now if they are giving up the choice of an 18-year-old in 2031 that individual right now is 11 so don’t go for Mel Bridges because you’re giving up that 2031 first rounder really like is that what you’re saying K hasn’t even hit puberty yet especially when you know their next plan later on that day was to give OG anobi his money and yesterday you’re like you you Nick’s going to pay him that money and I’m like yeah what on you know what Dolan’s got it that I know I know Dolan’s got it rich was very free with Nick dollars last what do I care seriously Dolan has it do you want to spend it to win or not you want to go and win or not you want to really bring a championship to Madison Square Garden or not you want to have confetti come down the canyon Heroes and have Jaylen Brunson the rest of the Nova Knicks go and celebrate in that man then yeah the sphere is turning out money yeah a question we ask about Dallas all the time in in the NFL are you serious about winning and the Knicks are they’re going for it and so OG’s what five years 212 by the way 212 is also the Ura code it’s a lot hey now that is true so go for it and so they draft two kids last night good luck making the rotation making the rotation that I’m already seeing from the Knicks media like a a possible St in five is Julius Randall and OG anobi and Mel Bridges and jayen Brunson and Isaiah hartenstein that’s your starting five and then who’s coming off the bench right Big Ragu and Hart and Miles McBride that’s eight that’s a nice Squad right there that’s eight and I didn’t even mention some of the other guys that are sitting right there so good luck to the two first rounders that they drafted last night kesan George from Miami okay nice nice head of hair and oh and then got traded to Washington and then this is going to be so much fun to have people from you know the upper the upper part of the Bronx to or queens or Staten my hometown of Staten Island pacom dier oh yeah God bless you from France that’s the 18-year-old who show Daddy Daddy so okay great like can that kid shoot can he defend can they e can can they can they go ahead and do it great great good luck making the lineup I mean I don’t think you will way to give him hope rich I don’t know he might he might sit there with um giannis’s brother who they might go and get to try and get giannis’s attention I’m just taking shots now hell is Tim Horton well no he uh he tour his Achilles so he he’s going to be is out for a seriously though I’m just pointing out the fact that anybody ringing their hands over those draft choices no thank you no thank you she saying direct them to less need and he’ll tell you what to do with the well I mean again it’s different from one sport to the other and I know you’re referencing sing the F all them picks mentality that they had when it was but they also had um a a quarterback who’s in his 30s and Aaron Donald who who knew how much longer he would have and things of that nature but in this point in this day and age if there is an organization that values these picks because they’re needing them to find more talent to feed into the system and you already have the talent at a certain level of Veteran status or you have the talent that’s at a certain level of you know they’re going to get pis a then what do you need these draft choices for go and add somebody and if you go and add that person and they can give you a championship caliber and then you can sign your own that you acquired during the trading season of the previous year Nicks were not in that situation before they were in cap hell and they were in a situation where nobody was coming in free agency and that has changed of course there’s the thorny issue at the very end of the day of um is that just getting some nicer furniture on the uh Celtics Titanic I don’t know dude’s a baller who is the guy that we drafted Oh Baya sheerman is that you’re were talking about no I’m just thought you meant he was the nice piece of furniture no I I’m saying no the Knicks or potentially or anybody else like is it is it good enough to beat the Celtics with my way saying I don’t know catch the rich eyes and show every single day 1. Nepotism Basketball Association:
    Yannis's brother
    'Bron's son
'Bron's new coaching brother from a different mother
———— and then there's all the talented brothers ———
    I.e. Stephen and Seth
The Lopez brothers (what is the plural of Lopezes? Lopi? ) 🙂
    . . .
    . . .

  2. In a vacuum both OG and Bridges are overpays, but both make sense for the Knicks. If he isn't moved this offseason, this will be Randles last year with the knicks.

  3. You can’t trade picks in consecutive years and 2025 is supposedly a much better draft than 2024. That’s why no pick this year .
And the pick wont play, will be stashed because we want to save the money from his slot to try to keep IHart.
    Cmon man.

  4. The Knicks ended up trading the 24th pick for the 26th and 50th pick in this year's draft. They then traded the 26th to OKC for 5 future second rounders.

  5. Since taking Ewing in 85’ The best player the Knicks have drafted was Porzingis (2015). Other than him and maybe RJ Barrett (2019) the Knicks have either drafted role players or busts in the seasons they actually had draft picks.

At this point it’s best that they just trade them all away. They don’t do shi+ with them anyways. At least you know what you’re getting with O.G. Well… assuming he’s healthy which is a big “assumption” seeing how he’s missed 110 Games since the start of the 2020/2021 season. But hey I’m sure as he ages he’ll miss less and less games right?

  6. Anytime I question if a contract was an overpay I ask myself if that player would get that contract in free agency. The answer is yes, and possibly more. Great signing from the knicks and excellent trade for Mikal

  7. When’s the last time we owned the off-season and it’s not off some flashy nonsense move

  8. Rich just ignoring that the Knicks are only going to be legitimately good for 4 years…and that “eighteen year old” is probably not going to be that young. IF they’re middle of the league that pick is perhaps Top 15, which is actually someone in their twenties that the Knicks ARE going to need. Knicks have exactly five years to make this work. And when it doesn’t, they’ll be irrelevant for another three decades.

  9. The knicks would be better off with hartenstein than michell…or randle….better keep ac and pa

  10. In the nba picks 20-30 are usually not great thats my opinion on why they traded all those picks. The knicks see themselves second round or beyond the next few years

  11. The 2031 pick could quite possibly be a high lottery pick. If this kind of short sighted thinking that makes the knicks perpetually mediocre. Great take Rich. Sorry, these aren't championship moves. Who's the best player on your team? Jalen brunson? That's not going to win a championship

  12. Agree with Rich, I couldn't care less how much money they spend. Ain't my money. They could give a dude a billion and I would say, "cool".

  13. I was shocked that the Knicks signed OG but good for them, they now match-up with the Celtics better than any other team in the east. Now I can't wait to watch the Knicks lose to the 76ers. OG my favorite Knick &their 3rd best player will make as much as Brunson &Bridges combined. NY has two years to win it all, that's their window; cuz after that Bridges, Brunson & Randle will all need new contracts. And no one cares about a 1st-rd-pick in 2031 but give it six years then we'll care. That might be the draft LeBron's 7' foot son is going pro &that pick could become the #1 pick that year. But for the next three years no one will think about or mention the draft pick NY gave up in 2031

  14. I think the biggest thing with OG resigning and the Mikal trade is that they can feasibly keep this core together for multiple years to come, since their contracts are long term. Jalen is willing to take a team-friendly contract, and I have a feeling Julius is too. This team isn't just a flash in the pan.

  15. Most of those 5 1st round picks basically early 2nd round picks cos they so late

  16. How does this all fit ? Josh hart is not a power forward. It’s 4 small forwards + Jalen Brunson. Is Josh hart suppose to defend Zion or Karl Anthony towns? What’s the starting 5?
