Why the D-? Did they think that the Warriors needed another G or PF?

Got a link to it? Curious about their reasoning. Didn’t seem like he had a lot of negatives from The Ringers Draft Guide.

Edit: I tried to link the post here but for some reason it was taken down.

Edit 2: Quinten Post’s minuses are basically just that he can’t post up and his movement shooting isn’t great. But how many 7 footers have a 3 point shot, let alone 3 point shot while moving?

    > PLUSES

    > Knockdown shooter from the center position: He made 42.9 percent of his 3s over his final two collegiate seasons. He also made 83.2 percent of his free throws.

    > Incredibly coordinated big man who displays excellent touch on floaters and hook shots, making him a prime candidate to thrive out of the short roll. He can also attack closeouts off the dribble to drive into sweeping runners and layups.

    > Capable of running dribble handoffs as a perimeter facilitator. Heā€™s not a flashy passer, but he can make the simple play. Combine his shooting, straight-line driving, and passing skills, and you have an intriguing fit in a ton of systems.

    > Reliable interior defender who alters and blocks shots without fouling. Boston College was 21.6 points per 100 possessions worse on defense when Post was off the floor, per CBB Analytics.

    > MINUSES

    > His handle tends to get a little too loose on post-ups. Despite his last name, heā€™s better when heā€™s facing up rather than playing with his back to the basket.

    > Can he expand on his standstill shooting ability? He can spot up and pick-and-pop, but adding some movement shooting would bring a unique dimension to his game as a 7-footer.

    We didnā€™t get a F though

  4. phillyman2k21

ESPN WOKE – they gave the Lakers an A+ for the BRonny pick.

  5. Noiserawker

That’s super weird…especially being a 7 foot center drafted to undersized team

  6. S_Bar_Sinister

I think the thinking is he won’t be as successful in the pros as he was in college against slower, smaller, younger players. Still he’s a 7 footer who can shoot and neither of those things change so I think that grade was shite.

  7. devilscurls

    Who cares?

If any of these writers were serious people they wouldnā€™t be at ESPN. Hollinger was the best of them and the Grizzlies sucked when he actually worked for the team.

  8. michaelshun

Nobody cares. When we win another ship that will shut them up.

  9. neo9027581673

    Lmaoā€¦watch this kid 100X Wiseman.

    ESPN is a joke.

  10. Moist_Rest5623

It’s ESPN. Who cares? I recommend other NBA news sources.

Everything is just speculation at this point, I wana see the young guys play, canā€™t wait for summer league! Itā€™s crazy how Iā€™m getting more and more sucked in as a warriors fan, before I would only watch the games, now Iā€™m watching trades, draft, and summer league!

  12. alittledanger

These grades are always silly. No one will know for sure until like 3-5 years from now.

  13. rightcheekslapper

Hopefully he doesnt end up like a dragan bender

  14. nutmegtester

This is great. I hope he hears the disrespect and gets a huge chip on his shoulder!

  15. Guacamol3Jon3s

ESPN is utter garbage nowadays. Pay walls for lackluster reporting and analysis that makes 0 sense.

You’d be better off polling the NBA subreddit than relying on an ESPN article.

  16. prodigus01

Why is there even such thing as a draft grade 1 day after the draft?

It should only be done 3 years later

  17. Ralphredimix_Da_G

This whole thing was probably handled from start to finish by a production assistant.

  18. vote_pedro

If ESPN hates it then it’s a great pick.

Kudos to MDJ and the team!

  19. Jtizzle1231

Literally all his positives are exactly what we need and his negatives are irrelevant, his handle? Movement shooting? Who gives a fuck. He literally sounds perfect for the warriors.

  20. Western_Upstairs_101

Edy went much sooner and canā€™t shoot.

  21. culinarycactus

This is from Kevin Peltonā€™s projection models

  22. trelos6

Itā€™s the 52nd pick. If he plays 1 game and doesnā€™t totally suck, the grade is a B. If he can play 15 min a game, itā€™s at A+

  23. I bet his ā€œadvancedā€ age was a factor.

  24. frg8310

I watched some highlights on YouTube. Reminds me of Bjelica.

  25. SuperMike100

Remember, they thought was a big mistake to draft Steph Curry in 2009.

  26. Eagles_Heels

Post is good. Watched him play at BC. Youā€™ll like him

  27. Creeping_behind_u

After giving it some thought… probably a bad idea to do a trade with the best GM in the league. Hope we’re not missing on something, that OKC GM sees.

3 weeks ago I told my friend that if OKC calls, hang the fuck up. we will see how Post is in 1-2 years.

  28. madlabdog

So I guess there is no way to go lower.

  29. Kittens4Brunch

These grades are pulled out of their ass.

  30. leanlefty

Maybe now is a good time to remind y’all that 12 years ago the Warriors also used the 52nd pick to draft a 7- footer from Europe. Serbia actually. He played 39 games in the NBA, scoring a total of 35 points. But he did get a ring with the Warriors. He went on to win championships in 3 different leagues in Europe. In total he compiled 10 championships in 5 different leagues. I wonder if that’s some kind of record. I will only say that his initials are OK, and I remember seeing him at the Bay Street mall in Emeryville. Hard to miss a 7-footer. Anyway, I hope Post has a better career with the Warriors.

  31. ChewieSkittles53

so he looks like and plays like dario šŸ˜…šŸ¤£
