Bill Simmons – The Bulls WON the Josh Giddey / Alex Caruso Trade

I thought Chicago won the trade I like gidy he’s 21 years old to me this was like one of the all-time buying low MBA trades of this Century I just think people forgot that he’s actually good and he was in a weird situation on a team that didn’t really need him right when nuls made a deal for Josh skidy many debat immediately sprung up in the NBA media regarding the trade mostly concerning how Chicago failed to get any picks away from OKC and exchanged for Alex Caruso however not everyone viewed the trade as a missed opportunity for the Bulls the podfather and the ring is Bill Simmons revealed that he feels that Chicago won the giddy Caruso trade I thought Chicago won the trade I like giddy I do I like giddy he’s 21 years old um to me this was like one of the all-time buying low MBA trades of this Century year two age 20 17 8 and six 48% super competitive they had like nobody they had no Center they went 40 and 42 that guy was bringing it went through all the off the court stuff which I think his season up um and by the way not great for him but I think you you know it it got the year off to a bad start combined with the team was better SJ had the ball a lot and he started to get marginalized as the year went along 21 years old last year but I went I went and looked at 21 under under guys who averaged 15 six and six and played 60 plus games here’s the list Luca three times LeBron twice magic lamelo Ben Simmons and Josh giddy in the history of the league if you go 20 and under which you did as a sophomore Luca twice Magic LeBron lamelo Josh giddy I just think people forgot that he’s actually good and he was in a weird situation um on a team that didn’t really need him and now he’s going to a team that’s not that good that’s going to be like yo Josh gidy we think you’re good here’s the ball and I think he was an asset I just think the stuff gy did and I saw him in person a couple times the first two years of his career and I just like how he plays you know he can he’s he’s a small forward but he’s also a point guard it doesn’t really seem to matter he’s tall he rebounds uh he just fills the box score he’s fun to play with the ball moves with him and I think if if you’re going to ding him on anything it’s like yeah he’s not a good enough three-point shooter yet well he’s 21 like Jaylen Brown Couldn’t Shoot when he came into the league that was the reason people thought he was going to go seventh or eighth in the draft because he couldn’t hit a jump shot and people are like well if he learns how to shoot he’ll be an asset well now he learned how to shoot um I just thought for Caruso who’s an expiring contract who everybody seemed to think they wanted like three four first round picks well you know they never got him they never got two first round picks for him and then as you’re going into the last year of your deal it was a really good trade for OKC like right everybody made the Derek white true holiday comparison I totally get it thought it was smart I think it was the right time to move off of giddy but I also thought the Bulls bought really low on them and they’re a bad team to begin with so it’s like all right now we have Kobe white we’ve Josh giddy we have the 11th pick probably have to figure out a way to get rid of LaVine D Roan’s probably leaving maybe we can trade VCH for somebody but at least now they’re like moving in a direction that makes sense to me although the season might not have finished the way that giddy wanted we he diminish roll during the funder second round loss to the Mavs the 68 guard show strong self-reflection and accountability when introduced by the Bulls yeah I mean it was tough because you know as as a player you you first you want to get to the NBA and then when you’re in the NBA want to be a part of big games in the playoffs and um and that you know I’ve dreamt of that moment for so long and for it to end the way it did um you know kind of left a sour taste in my mouth for a long time and and it’s tough to go into the summer as that as your last you know stint in the NBA for That season and um and it just showed me that there’s so many things I have to work on to be able to um be valuable in those moments and um and and as I said earlier the these are the lessons that you know I’d rather learn now um as a young kid in my career um opposed to when I’m later in my career it’s the first time I’m experienced playoff action and I don’t know what to expect and um you know it was probably a blessing in disguise for me it really taught me what I need to work on um how I need to get better and obviously shooting’s a big one um but also the the defensive end is something that um I think just coming into this offseason that a switch just flipped in my mind and I just realized that at to to be at the highest level you’ve got to really compete at that end you got to be able to sit down guard guys and um that’s that’s the side of the ball that I really want to take you know pride in I think the offense will come naturally but it’s that side of the ball that um I really want to take steps forward in um to make sure when playoff time comes around that um you know I’m ready to go both sides of the ball and not just you know one giddy’s Whirlwind offseason will continue as he will play a major role in the Boomer medal hopes in the Paris Olympics however he is super excited to play in front of the Bulls fans next season they got a lot of Talent on this team and um and as I said I’m looking forward to just coming trying to immerse myselfself in it um and not take away from anybody but just help this team continue to grow and get better um but yeah The Impressions we only play him obviously twice a year um being a Western Conference team but um very competitive team and and one of my favorite things I’m most excited about was playing in United Center in front of the fans every time I’ve been to Chicago to play here the fans have been unbelievable it’s a packed house every time uh regardless of what day of the week it is um so the fans and I know they’re passionate this um this club’s obviously got a lot of history but um that’s that’s one of the things I’m most excited for before is getting to United stand and playing in front of these great fans all right guys do you great Bill Simmons that Chicago want to trade or do you think the Thunder had to pay a higher price to get Caruso for me it’s a win-win Caruso helps a thunder straight away and the Bulls get a past first playmaker who was only 21 years old all right guys let me know what you think in the comments below all right guys that wrap it off for today’s video If you like this video please hit the like button that really helps this video out if you like this type of 1. I dont think many people in general but especially Bulls fans realise that Giddey is the same age or younger than 10 of the guys that just got drafted and he's going into his 4th NBA season.

  2. The kid has already proven he’s effective and his talent translates. The hardest skill to find is feel/passing/playmaking. Every year, you can find athletic scoring guards. Its a team game and Giddey makes basketball fun, removes stress from young players cuz he creates easier shots for them. He’s an excellent rebounder which will allow for Bulls to run more. He can improve his outside jumper. Its not broken like Ben Simmons’. I’d look to sign him now in hopes of getting a better team friendly deal. But, great trade for Bulls and we can tank for next years’ excellent draft and keep our 10th pick from Spurs.

  3. Giddy is the G.O.A.T.
He will win MVP and lead the Bulls to Six Rings.
    I like giddy.
    😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  4. 2 years ago Giddey averaged 17/6/8 in only 31 minutes per game. To put that in perspective in Harden's last year with OKC he averaged 17/4/4 in 31 minutes. He has improved his free throw shooting since he came into the league by 10% and his 3 point shooting by 8% (he shot close to 34% last year which is only 1% less than SGA). Not only did the Bulls win this trade it will go down as an absolute debacle for OKC. Giddey will average damn near a triple double if he gets 35 minutes. He is about to just go off.

  5. Thank god finally someone talking some sense. Giddey is a walking triple double with reps at PG . Will get you 25 on any given night in lay ups and floaters and will make every player on offence better with his magic Johnson like passing and is a prodigious rebounder to start fast breaks . Guarantee he averages 18/8/9 if he gets 36 minutes a night and he’ll play 80 games. Caruso is a 8 season career 6/3/3 who plays a little defence and has never played more than 70 games in a season and has spent time in g league.

  6. Giddey is already a better player than Caruso ever was in his peak. And he's younger and playing in a spot he's not suited to. Bulls won the trade and it's not even close

  7. finally someone who makes sense. forget the off court bullshit – his first two seasons were great – hes a triple double machine when hes in control of the ball – this season SGA was the primary ball handler and the games SGA didnt play giddey got a triple double. im looking forward to this coming season with chicago

  8. Really great takes Bill. Time will tell which is what makes it interesting. Is mental strength and confidence going to be the end verdict, or will he build upon the potential that was very definitely there? A gamble worth taking for Chicago in my opinion.

  9. The Bulls got a young player with a lot of upside. A playmaker who is an average shooter, but has a high basketball IQ. The Thunder got a great defensive player who isn't going to give them a lot of points, who is also good for about half a season before he gets injured, and likely won't be available for the playoffs. Chicago definitely won this trade.

  10. It's win-win trade. OKC now got Topic. Even if Caruso walks away in 2025, Topic is now available and probably gain a lot of experience by being sidelined for a year, just like what happened to Chet when he was also sidelined for a year. If the Bulls going to do the same treatment the Rockets did to Harden, then Giddey can do his works (he just need to improve not just his shooting, but also his decision making)

  11. I'd 100% rather have Caruso, but my guess is that they either didn't believe he wanted to stay there, or they thought his asking price on an extension was beyond what they were willing to pay. Giddey has some serious flaws in his game, namely 3 pt shooting and defense, but at least he's super young and has a chance to improve in these areas. Better than letting Caruso walk for nothing.

  12. I'm looking forward to seeing how JG fits with the current Bulls players.
Bulls won because of JG's youth and talent. AC will help OKC. OKC fans will love AC! OKC also won this trade.

  13. It was pretty crazy to watch how brutal the fans were to him. In Australia the age of consent is lower than that girls age and it used to be lower here as well and they arbitrarily raised it. But the reason her parents didn’t want to cooperate with the police is because it would be public knowledge just how many older men she was hooking up with in clubs with her fake ID. NOT a victim….

  14. It will be interesting to see what other moves the Bulls make this off season. Either way, if Lonzo stays healthy, it will be a fun offense to watch

  15. Bill keeps it real. I wasn’t too sold on the move but the more I think about his size as a point-forward, I see the value. Big guards are always a problem.

  16. I’m not a huge Giddey fan but Caruso is being overrated.

For all his positives he also has a long list of things he’s very inconsistent with

  17. Bill will understand who "won the trade" when Alex Caruso and Thunder make it to the Finals within a few seasons and Giddey is playing for a .500 ball club at best and if lucky.

  18. Giddy is a solid player and many do forget that he's only 21 so he has a lot more upside than Caruso who has clearly peaked!

  19. Last 2 Play-In games ATL then MIA, AC had 6 points each game while being in each game for 30+ minutes.

Glad this trade happened. Bulls invested way too many years in hustle/defense only players like Kirk Heinrich/Joakim Noah.
Come Playoffs and beyond you need points to win.

  20. Listen Caruso will get 80 mill over 4 years.
    And he's worth it.
We are not ready to contend.
So I would rather have Giddy then late 20 picks from a contender.

Giddy is proven and is 21 I love the trade.

The best way to look at it.
We signed Caruso with free agent money we had to spend he gave us everything he had and we get Giddy for just spending money.

We didn't draft Caruso this is a smart way to add talent without drafting.

Smart asset move Bulls front office.

  21. Im from Chicago love my bulls . Caruso sucks !!!! People stop watching espn when they show his 3 good plays. Bring giddey to Chi . Okc screwed themselves when they stopped playing him in playoffs .
