Paul George is the BIGGEST DOMINO that can impact many things! – Brian Windhorst | Get Up

for can impact the landscape of NBA free agency yeah that’s almost understating it Ryan he is the biggest domino that’s going to affect so many different things okay I want to go over real quick he’s got three choices one he can resign with the Clippers as early as today if he wants to he can opt into his contract for next year about $48 million doing so almost certainly would mean he has a team he wants to be traded to where he would later sign an extension or three he could become an unrestricted free agent on Sunday evening and go out there and leave the Clippers with nothing the reason this impacts so many different people are the teams that are involved in trying to get Paul George if you were to leave the Clippers so for example you have the Philadelphia 76ers they have the most cap space out there around $60 million they are obviously interested in signing Paul George they have to hold their other business their other free agent aspirations until they see what Paul George’s decision is that decision could come today or tomorrow it may not be into free agency then you look at the Golden State Warriors today is an interesting day for the Golden State Warriors and Chris Paul Chris Paul has a $30 million option in his contract that the Warriors control that has a deadline of today general manager Mike Dunley be said yesterday that they might even ask Chris Paul to push that deadline back why because Chris Paul could potentially be used in a trade for Chris for Paul George if he decides he’d like to opt in and force a trade to the Warriors that means that someone like Klay Thompson who wants to is has interest in staying with the Warriors or wants to know what their contract offer would be he has to sit behind Paul George and wait and see what happens there and the Warriors get involved and I’ll also bring up another bigname free agent James Harden he is a free agent on Sunday as well with the Clippers the Clippers Direction this offseason very largely made determine on whether Paul George stays there and resigns or if he forces a trade who he’s trying to force a trade to and for that means that Harden will have to sort of wait and watch and see what Paul George does so a lot of big names and a lot of teams that are going to be big movers and shakers in this next four to 10 day period are going to wait to see what Paul George does I think we’re going to see a little bit of Frozen deals until we get a move from him whatever it happens Saturday Sunday Monday and then once he does make up his mind what he wants to do and the Clippers either go along or not then you will see a whole bunch of deals fall behind Jay will I heard all those names clay PG Chris Paul but it seems that Paul George is controlling all of this for you what’s the best spot for him I would love to see Paul George and Philly I just and I know they had that awkward moment during the NBA Finals with him and Joel EMB when Joel andb gave him the little ey glance and I I loved it um but watching Philadelphia draft Jared McCain a guy from duke who’s a floor spacer now can shoot the ball from the outside can extend that offense and extend the reach of it Paul George playing alongside Tyrese Maxi and Joel embi with what you’ve seen from Joel embi this season with watching Milwaukee and some of their draft picks really makes me question Milwaukee a little bit and some of their decision-making around how they’re going to be additive to the likes of Dame and Giannis watching the Knicks make their moves that they did Tyler kich OG obviously bringing in Mel Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets they’re going to be contending with the Boston Celtics but I think there’s a lot more upside in the Eastern Conference where I see the dominance of the West between teams like OKC teams like Denver teams like Dallas where they’re coming from even if he were to go out west I I like Paul George in Philly DJ explain to me why Paul George is the guy why so many teams should be after him and how he can make you an NBA championship Contender well first and foremost there aren’t many players like him in the league that are over 68 two ways call him video game p the handle is there he’s got a midi he can shoot the three catch and shoot off the bouns and he can go guard the other team’s best player there aren’t many players like that available there aren’t many players like that who are in the prime of their career who are potentially looking to try to win a championship he talked about stability he talked about culture some of the things that he’s looking forward to being a part of on his podcast shout out to podcast P but I think the special thing about PG is that he has a unique skill set that not many people possess and it’s not very often a player becomes an unrestricted free Ag and as Wendy said he has three options he can opt in he can opt out or he can stay and I think a lot of teams are waiting to see what happens because you’re not going to be able to draft a player like that and develop him by the time Paul George is ready to play next season he said stability and culture there’s no no place like Golden State when you talk about those two things if they make this run at PG does it make them a title contender in the west I think it gets him closer I don’t think it makes him a title Contender I still think there’s other pieces that Golden State would need and some answers some questions to some answers that they have to have but I definitely think it helps I I think there’s from what we’ve seen with Klay Thompson and Klay play better at the end of the year uh but PG’s at a different stage of his career what he could do defensively I think it gets him closer I don’t think it gets him over the hump though so CJ do they need another piece if they get Paul George or do you scrap chasing Paul George Al together running back with clay and try to add some things around him if you’re the warrior I think the biggest question is what does clay want to do I don’t think the season ended the way they all wanted it to I think there was a lot of volatility in terms of how he was utilized there’s a lot of frustration you know one of the greatest players of all time being relegated to the bench how that changed his performance his shot profile um I think if you look at those things it’s a matter of what is best for Klay Thompson family and then you put that aside you have Steph Curry in the prime of his career right on the back on the back ners they would say but in the prime of his career so you always have a puncher’s chance with him if you can surround him with the right Talent another score another guy that can create that gives him the ability to rest more in the fourth quarter that gives him the ability to have more freedom to be without the ball so I think it’s going to be interesting to see what they do and I think a lot of it depends upon their relationship with clay and what he wants to do going forward Wendy the ball is in Paul George’s Court what do do you see as the most likely conclusion of this Saga yeah I just want to point out a couple things real quick there there are other teams out there there are multiple teams that are willing to trade for Paul George and give him a Max contract it’s not just a team like the Warriors so he has other options that we may not know about I think the Warriors are relevant because of their location in California and because of their ability to be a competitive team with them the second thing is remember even if Paul George opts in and wants a trade the Clippers have to work out that trade and if I was mentioning Chris Paul mostly because that’s the contract match that would be needed in such a deal but if the Clippers were going to trade Paul George to Golden State they would want other pieces from Golden State so you can’t just look at a SW pure swap out as you’re trying to figure those things out so I think if I had to wager on it without having any inside information I would say that Paul George would stay with the clippers for on a three-year giant contract but I could see why he would be a little frustrated they’re not offering him a full four-year Max Lebron and Brony James would be the first father and son teammates in the NBA but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it in sports MLB had senior Junior Duos Tim Reigns and Ken griffy Gordy how played with both of his sons in the NHL while in the NFL Ted and Chuck nesser played in the 1920s for the Columbus pan handles but Bob Myers had this to say about the way JJ reck should move inside the building when dealing with bronny James if you’re JJ you sit out and say listen I might even be harder on you just understand that it might not be fair but I’m not going to have anyone saying that I’m taking it easy on you you turn it over in practice I’m going to say something to you you do something on film I’m going to say something to you that’s the only way it works because the second the rules are different for him you might lose the other players on the team I know this morning we’re being very basketball but I had to bring my dog Dominique fox or so we can go players only on this panel but we needed a little football Jazz to it as well Jay will when you hear what Bob Meyer says about the way Brony James should be treated by JJ reick what’s your first thought I just disagree with it um first off bronnie ain’t playing 25 minutes a night right like bronnie is going to be as CJ alluded to before on that stay ready Squad and the one thing that you don’t have to worry about with bronny is bronnie showing up late yeah bronnie being lazy that is not who this dude is just give Insight he’s one of the hardest working guys there is right there’s a reason why GMS and people aboutou for his character even having LeBron James as his father everything around the way he treats the game of basketball is with respect I’ve seen it in person I’ve seen there be games when he’s playing in Las Vegas where he’s really not going to know if he’s going to play coming up his heart issue where he’s there an hour and a half before anybody else just getting shots up working on his game he stays afterwards all these are characteristic traits of a guy who is super aware and understands that the awareness around him or the criticism is going to be higher because of his father you’re not going to have to worry about that with bronny James and people by the way on on teams they’re going to protect him man because he gets it he understands how the game is played CJ I agree and I don’t think it’s necessarily JJ’s responsibility to specifically focus on Bry obviously they’re going to have a development plan for him and their other rookie Dalton they’re going to continue to try to figure out ways to help them improve but it’s on the veterans on the team it’s on his dad it’s on Brun it’s on ad it’s on ree it’s on the rest of the squad the guys that are actually playing to hold him accountable for his actions that’s what the great teams do that’s how you build culture it’s from within you’re governing yourself and you’re governing each other but I don’t foresee him having any issues because LeBron is one of the most disciplined players to ever play the game of basketball he’s in year 20 plus showing up to the arena four or five hours before the game so what do you think BR is going to do he’s going to show up to game 4 to 5 hours before it starts he’s going to have to anyway because from a developmental standpoint you have to get ahead of the curb on your shot selection on your reps on your picking rooll on your film you have to do more more more because most of the world is expecting less Dom how do you think this is going to play out in the locker room for Brony and the rest of the Lakers yeah ultimately Sports is great because it’s about what you bring to the game like I think there’s a lot of other baggage that comes with a bunch of different players there’s hype that comes with players there’s expectations that come come with players this is a lot more attention than the 55th pick is ever going to get so there is going to be more attention on him and it’s going to be slightly different but ultimately either you can ball you can bring value to your team or not and that’s how it’s going to determine how the team feels about him and what happens in that locker room and if he’s taking people’s minutes eventually it’s going to be because he’s contribued and no one’s going to have a problem with that only becomes a problem if he takes minutes from people that feel like he doesn’t deserve it and I don’t see that happening with this Lakers team or with frankly any team in professional sports that wants to to um get better and win I think we’ve seen it in the locker room a lot though that somebody becomes the little bro for everybody right there there’s that one kid that you see something in he has some potential and so everybody’s looking out for him they’re shooting with him early he’s obviously going to get to the game four or five hours early CJ because he GNA be riding with his pops they can save on gas but when you look at what Braun has done for his son because yesterday I felt like I’d tell him not to draft the if they didn’t want them if they weren’t going to use them correctly allow him to develop I look at it now is he’s providing an opportunity the same way that all of us will use our names we’ll use our faces we’ll use the things that we’ve accomplished to give our children opportunities and now it’s on bronny James to find a way to contribute it was on bronny James when he was elected to the McDonald’s All-American Game to go out and show that you blown it was on Brony James when he got an opportunity to go to the combine to go out and show that you belong that’s the exact same same opportunity his father has given him now Jay what does Brony James need to show when he walks into the locker room so he does gain the respect of all the players there for the Lakers same thing he’s always showed RC like knowing him like he’s humble he’s humble on the way he approaches the game and he’s going to listen to guys like LeBron he’s going to listen to JJ he’s going to do all the things and more that they’re going to ask for him because that’s the way he’s built that’s his DNA of who he is and look his game by the way a floor spacer who is athletic who can defend so much of the NBA is fit for a guy that can play that way off of Austin Reeves and practice and things I think his game is actually going to do pretty well [Music]

  1. what the clippers need to do right now is get as much from this trade as possible. Getting kuminga and young + solid players or first round picks should definitely be a goal for them right now and they should avoid klay and CP while they're at it

  2. He should I go to the Warriors, Philly hasn’t even sniffed the Finals in the last 5 years. Golden state has made Wiggins, Javale McGee, Andre Iguodala, and even Shaun Livingston champs

  3. When Ryan said, they are gonna ride together to save on gas…. that was it for me… lol

  4. Paul George is a very good player for sure but CJ made up that "Video Game P" lol Man's been in the league since 2000s and no one has ever called him that

  5. Y is no one talking about PG13 going to the timberwolves imagine a trade where Rudy and pg switch they dnt need two bigs and Rudy most of the time is a liability because he fumbles the ball and sucks at perimeter defense and when they can’t play both bigs because they have to play small against good perimeter teams it would benefit Anthony Edwards to have another perimeter/slasher to play with to ease off the pressure and create more space for him on the floor

  6. IN 2014 LEBRON JAMES WAS READY TO LEAD A PLAYER BOYCOTT OVER CLIPPERS OWNER DONALD STERLING'S ANTI BLACK RACIST STATEMENTS
IM 2024 LEBRON JAMES IS SILENT ABOUT THE ALLEGATIONS THAT LOS ANGELAS LAKERS COACH JJ REDDICK CALLED HALLEEMAH NASH A "N-GG-R " AND CALLED VANESSA LOPES " A DIRTY N-GG-R "AND " STUPID SP-C "

  7. Lol we've already seen Paul George with Embiid…Remember how James Harden ended in Philly. George and harden are the same guy. You cant trust them in the payoffs

  8. Lakers should trade D’Angelo and 2-3 first round picks to try to pick up one of the Thompson Brothers. The Lakers need a great wing defender who can knock down shots, and both brothers are capable of that.

  9. PG is trash. People get so caught up because hes had a few good games. The inconsistency is unreal. Proably the most overrated player in the league.
