‘There was a market for Dejounte Murray’ – Woj details Hawks trade | SportsCenter

NBA now from a walk-off to a send off from a hawk to a pelican to Jon Murray is New Orleans bound ESPN’s Adrian wowski reporting The Big Easy gets one of the best guards in the game in exchange for Larry n Jr EJ Liddell Dyson Daniels and two future first round picks Murray just completing his second season in Atlanta a career high 22 and a half points per he’ll now continue that in a different uniform here’s woes with more for Atlanta the Trey young dejon Murray partnership just never worked two years of it and simply it was easier to trade deante Murray there was more of a market with his contract uh and and kind of where he is right now in this league so for New Orleans they see Murray as a player who could help them in fourth quarters another offensive Creator to go with CJ McCullum Zion Williamson and I think for Atlanta you know they were able to get a draft pick in 2025 they were out of that draft because of the Marie trade and what they gave up with for San Antonio this is one of the biggest drafts in years coming next year and they are back in that draft with a pick it’s Adrian wowski Murray will look to help the Pelicans in close games this past season he made 40 shots in clutch time which is when the scores within five points in the final 5 minutes that was the fifth most in the NBA New Orleans did not win a single game when trailing entering the fourth quarter they went 0 and 22 last season D’Angelo Russell isn’t going anywhere Lakers guard staying with the Lakers telling Swiss cultures he plans to exercise his $8.7 million player option DLo coming off of a strong offensive season for the Lakers big part of their playoff push but the defensive end was an adventure at times he says he’s excited to play for JJ reck says he sees himself thriving under his guidance he has throve thrived beyond the three-point line what’s a past T of Thrive he made 200 both of those and 26 threes last season that is the most in seon in Lakers history surpassing Nick Van xle’s total from the mid 90s by a large margin Russell also shooting a career best 41.5% on threes last season let’s talk the business of basketball here with our NBA front office Insider Bobby marks is with us Bobby what does D’Angelo Russell opting in now mean for the flexibility for this Lakers franchise I I thought all along the angel Russell controlled the Lakers off season not LeBron James based on his 18.7 million doll player option we have Russell opting in right now they are at $135 million a number to keep an eye on is $189 million that’s the second apron the dreaded second apron we’ve been talking about the inability to aggregate contracts the inability to take back more money look what happens when we put LeBron James in there we’re we’re getting up there we’re at 184. you’re about $4 million below and that doesn’t include signing restricted free agent Max Christie that’s a priority for them so if you sign Max Christie you’re going to go over the second a so it basically limits what they can do this offseason barring moving some money here but what you see in that the Denver series is basically going to be the same roster returning except for you know Dalton connect and of course bronny James dton connect coming in bronny James coming in but you’re talking about a second round draft pick all due respect to the James bloodline let’s keep it in LA we’re just hours away from Paul George’s deadline to opt in or Test free agency what are the possibilities there well keep an eye on Philadelphia okay Sixers are in the driver’s seet they have the most money out of any team they can basically just go out and sign Paul George Paul George outright they can just slide that $49 million through at $56 million I mean they don’t even need to get they don’t even need to cooperate with the Clippers they can just go out and offer from four years $212 million done deal you slide in you still have a little bit more money to go out in in uh in free agency if you’re Philadelphia and we could see free agency over for most to the league within 24 hours here he controls free agency because what happens with him in Philadelphia what happens what’s Plan B with the Clippers could they maybe work out a signning trade create a trade exception maybe go after Demar d rozan a lot of different variables there for Paul George but Philadelphia is certainly a team to keep an eye on here okay so not just the biggest domino essentially the Domino in free agency the one yes he is outside of LeBron James and we we think he’s going back to LA yeah Paul George is the one that keep keep an eye on okay let’s go from that Paul to this Paul and Chris Paul and the Warriors they’re delaying their date to lock in his contract they’re pushing that to tomorrow how could that play out well it’s a big it’s a big one because where they are remember we talked about that 190 number the second apron look where they are 174 that includes Chris Paul okay we even talked about Klay Thompson now if you if you keep Chris Paul and let’s say you bring Klay Thompson back back boom $199 look at their luxury tax bill 103 million that’s why that’s why Chris Paul and Klay Thompson are connected here if you if you wave Chris Paul you can bring back Klay Thompson but you can’t trade Chris Paul and take back a $30 million so keep an eye on Chris Paul certainly Klay Thompson there okay speak to that for just a second though because you if you trade Chris Paul dollar for dollar you’re getting 30 more back not like you’re getting it’s you could just wave him and take the money off and there’s no exemption when it comes to the second apron right you get that no you don’t want to be when you when you lose into playing you do not want to be in the second apron it’s Common Sense from Bobby marks and breaking down the numbers from Bobby marks and a reminder free agency officially starts tomorrow 6 p.m Eastern [Music]

  1. Can Adriana wojanaski explain if there’s a market for Murray , why did the hawks got only peanuts and two low 1st round?

  2. Hawks have no clue how to run a team. This was obviously a bad match with Trae and their no1 pick was dumb too

  3. Nick Van Exel and Kobe weren’t 3 point shooters what a dumb graph 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  4. him and trae young is just empty stats provider. their game is not about winning just highlights now and then. same with lamelo ball and a lot of these young flashy nba players now that provide no leadership and winning culture.

  5. Can Paul George hurry up and make a decision already? Klay Thompson is probably headed to Dallas. Perfect next to Luka and Kyrie. Dallas will be top 3 in the West.
