I mean, is Daniels worse than Murray? Yeah.
But also Murray is a ball-heavy offensive piece, who hasn’t provided defense to off-set Young’s lack thereof.
(Which I don’t mean as a shot at Young, he’s improved. Just from a F to a D+.)
So the parts of Murray that make him better than Daniels are things we can’t make maximum use of. And his weaknesses exacerbate our current problems.

When the initial shams tweet didn’t include Daniels it looked pretty bad but yeah it was pretty funny lurking through their sub. For a fanbase that’s obsessed with our team’s results, you’d think they’d know a little more.
The people who were posting about Jalen being legit and pointing out the injury struggles last year were getting questioned/pushed back on. It’s clear most of them think this is a borderline bottom 5 roster

Our fanbase isn’t very smart when it comes to the hawks sadly. Had to remind folks that Trae on-DJ off lineups were the best lineups in the dejountrae era (RIP). There’s also a lot of rabid Trae hate in the fanbase. Even if the org stayed put from this point yall would be mid at the very least.
Also, people are underrating Dyson. Hopefully he gets a real shot, and his defense will help. Hawks still need to upgrade from capela if possible imo, if yall can do that you’ll be in a good spot

Spurs fans are not considering that the East has 4 or upwards of 6 teams (depending on Chicago mostly, Raptors too I guess) that are just flat out going to WANT to be bad for Cooper Flagg. Chicago really should tank too, they owe their pick to the Spurs unless it’s top 10.
That should put the Hawks kinda comfortably in play-in contention again. We absolutely might give the Spurs a pick in the teens but so be it. But this Hawks team could pretty feasibly be ~.500 again. And let’s be real it was a minor miracle we got the 1st pick this year lol
Meanwhile the West is a slaughter house with at most 3 teams that will be bad (incl the Spurs). Like there’s a chance the Hawks get an 8 seed, win a playin game and give the Spurs a non lotto pick. That’s really not far fetched currently
Also it can’t be stated enough that the Trae-DJ minutes just flat out made us worse. By a noteable margin

I think Atlanta will be fine as I don’t think many teams in the East actually got better than you did coming out of the draft. Let’s at least wait until free agency is over before the predictions are made.

We’re easily a play-in team running it back with Trae (assuming he stays healthy). If Risacher balls out we could get into the 6-8 seed range. I have no idea why Spurs fans think they are getting a top pick from us. DJ did not impact our record at all until Trae went out.

Spurs fan here. I actually think you guys got better with Dyson Daniels over Dejounte Murray. Granted, Daniels isn’t an all star. But he brings the exact defense you all expected from Murray.
Furthermore, this frees up cap space for you all to sign another star in the future. Like the Mavs did when they traded away Porzingis.
This Hawks roster is perfectly constructed to be an elite defensive team under Snyder. Similar to Iverson’s 2001 sixers.
