BREAKING: Klay Thompson Has “STRONG INTEREST” In Joining Mavericks…

is just around the corner the Dallas Mavericks have been linked to quite a few players there’s been Landry shamet there’s been Quinton Grimes who we did trade Tim harway Jr for as well as Jeremy Grant but there is another name that’s been floating around the rumor mill that the Dallas Mavericks may be interested in and that’s Klay Thompson now we could be interested in a boatload of players there’s anybody who’s available sure we could be interested in them but what makes this report even better is that last night late last night it was reported that there is mutual interest from Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks and so in this video we’re going to break down all those reports does Klay Thompson still have what it takes to help a team win a chip does he even fit this team what does he bring can we still get Derrick Jones Jr to resign if we also go after Klay Thompson we’ll go over all that in this video how’s it going everybody my name is Marcel Martin this is Mavericks digest bring the latest news on everything Maverick related and before we start with this video man you guys been doing just a great job of just smashing that like button if we can get 400 likes on this video I’d appreciate it greatly but on with the video we’re talking about Klay Thompson like I said in the intro Klay Thompson has been a player whose name’s been floating around the rumor mill he’s not really going back to Golden State Warriors I think that’s just dead in the water as it was also report that the Golden State Warriors don’t see Klay Thompson as a long-term fit as there’s been no extension no type of contract negotiations and Klay Thompson is rightfully upset by that and some people want to take this as a as a grain of salt some people want to look more into this but this is something that was reported earlier today that I’m sorry earlier yesterday that Klay Thompson follows Nico Luca and Kyrie on Instagram but the cherry on top is that he also follows Maxi and Gafford he is already in the trenes with us so when I saw this I was like okay players follow whoever they want it doesn’t really matter it could be something it could be nothing but like I said in the intro there was another report that followed up late last night that Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks have strong Mutual interests and I don’t know about you guys but I like this a lot for the Dallas Mavericks one thing that we’ve been lacking a lot is just three-point shooting we’ve been lacking three-point shooting everybody’s been saying we need a third score maybe not a third star but definitely a third scorer but I also understand a lot of people feel like Klay Thompson he’s he’s he’s washed up he’s passed his prime injury-prone he’s not the same there’s a lot of negatives alongside Klay Thompson as well as a lot of positives and we’re going to look at both of those but real quick let’s take a close look at his stats for this season and for the season he averaged 17.9 points 3.3 rebounds 2.3 assists. five blocks 6 steals 1.5 turnovers and 1.6 fouls per game while shooting 43% from the field 38% from three he shoots 39% on Corner threes 93% of his threes are assisted and 61% of all shots are threes and obviously this is a down gear for Klay Thompson as we all know he had those two years back to back where he was out with a knee injury and an Achilles injury but I want to I want to tackle all those negative thoughts and just feelings about Klay Thompson right that he’s injury-prone well last season he played 77 games the season before that he played 69 games games both seasons he played more games than with Josh green and Kyrie Irving so injury-prone well he hasn’t been injured in the last three years he’s been playing significant minutes he helped the team win a championship last year he played what he averaged 29 minutes a game last year so inry prone I don’t want to believe that I think that he’s passed that he’s learned to play Within himself obviously he’s not the same play as before he is about 33 years old he’d be one of our older players I’m sorry he’s 34 years old he’d be one of our older players on the team if we were to acquire him but if you want three-point shooting Klay Thompson which you can argue this is probably his worst three-point shooting year shot 38% from three but on nine attempts outside of Luca and Kyrie who else on the team shoots better from three on nine attempts he’s almost at 40% from three that’s the offense we need and you can argue that his defense isn’t where it used to be and I understand that as well but we are a team that were when it comes to defense it’s a team effort right it’s not just one guy defending the you know everybody right like we got our point of attack Defenders and D J we have Gafford we have PJ we we have Defenders and don’t act like like Klay Thompson’s defense just disappeared still a good it’s still a good Defender but in our system he would Excel as Luca and Kyrie are great at getting guys wide open I think that we have the most wide openen threes attempts out of the whole league so Klay Thompson being a spot up shooter would work great in our system as far as being a starter I’m not too sure if we do start him I don’t think I’m not sure if he’d be better off the bench he did have to come off the bench for a few games last season I’m not sure if he really liked it I’m not sure if coming to the Dallas Mavericks if he’d be expecting a starting role but a starting lineup of Luca Kyrie Klay Thompson PJ Washington and Dereck ly or Daniel Gafford isn’t that bad but I feel like if you have if you have Klay Thompson coming off the bench not saying that Derrick Jones Jr deserves a starting position over Klay Thompson but just having someone like Klay Thompson Off the Bench can definitely help out with rotation so there’s not a clog at at a certain position not at the shooting guard or small forward position it frees it up more and it allows the bench unit to actually have some weapons to have some offensive explosions right and so a lot of good things are to be said about about Klay Thompson I could sing his Praises until the cows come home right but there is still cause for concern even though I did say he did play 77 games last year 69 games year before those injuries from a few years ago is something that you got to take into account he is getting another year older he’s 34 almost 35 so I get it you don’t want to take risk on a guy who may get hurt again who is kind of on the down side of his Prime and the and the price tag for someone like Klay Thompson is upwards of $30 million and do we really want to spend $30 million on Klay Thompson we don’t even have Derrick Jones Jr yet but that’s the beauty of it because if we take a look right here I’m all over the place uh things still fluid perin technically the Mavs could give DK Jones the mle and then do a sence trade for clay which would definitely be the preferred route in my opinion and I believe that too I mean if we can give Dar Jones the the mid-level exception cool we got Dereck Jones Jr he signed back awesome but when it comes to Klay Thompson you gotta convince Golden State that hey sign and trade possibly and a trade for Klay Thompson potentially would be you put Maxi kba Josh green and maybe a first round pick maybe not the most ideal trade I know a lot of people don’t want to lose Jaden Hardy or or Josh Green I think a lot of fans are kind of done with maxi kba why would the Golden State Warriors even entertain this that’s that’s up for Nico to decide and for us to sit and watch the magic happen the the big part of this is that there is mutual interest it’s one thing to go after players that we think fit to go after players that we want but most importantly you want players who want to be here if Klay Thompson wants to be in Dallas seeing that we just made the finals on a on a team that barely anybody on the team the majority of the team never even seen the finals Luca Don was hurt the entire playoffs someone like Klay Thompson who can come in drop a few threes I mean he averaged 17.9 points last year if he could do that again in this system that’ be amazing Tim Hardway Jr was our third leing score last year while averaging 14 points a game you get just three more out of someone more efficient and consistent like Klay Thompson and the team stays healthy we can see the finals again and we may just win it all but one more thing I want to show you guys because I just don’t want to get lost up in there is that Klay Thompson was fourth in the NBA in three-pointers made this season and shot 39% from three what are we talking about in in reference to someone saying bro we just got rid of a brick ler now we might get another no there’s a lot lot of just misinformation being spread about Klay Thompson but there is some truth to what some people are saying yes he’s old yes he’s well oldish he’s he’s he’s on the L on the latter end of his prime I will agree to that he did come off two years of injury he he is going to be somewhat expensive if he doesn’t take a discount coming to the Mavericks there are other teams that may want more but there are reports saying that he wants to stay in the Western Conference so teams like Orlando maybe they won’t even have a shot at someone like clay that they could Pro possibly outbid us for it if Klay Thompson wants to win a ring if Klay Thompson wants to prove the Golden State Warriors wrong that he still has something to give a team that is trying to win a championship the Dallas Mavericks may be the team for him we get Guys open and The Vibes are just Immaculate the the players enjoy playing with each other and I don’t know I didn’t see any reports of it so I’m just speculating here but maybe Klay Thompson was kind of getting tired playing second field with Steph I mean it won them championships but maybe he feels underappreciated and he feels that hey I want to bet on myself I still have I still have something to give and something to contribute to a championship team and if he has that right attitude if he comes in ready to go ready to work and he buys into our system because it’s definitely different than what he had in Golden State then maybe it will work and maybe the the the Dallas Mavericks can make it back to the NBA finals let’s not forget that it wasn’t too long ago where everybody thought that trading for for someone like Kyrie Irving was just the wrong move toxic player he’s not healthy he’s not going to help you and that was wrong so maybe everything negative that people are saying about Klay Thompson is also wrong and maybe it could actually be the Saving Grace for the Dallas Mavericks but that’s just all speculation like I said we won’t know until things unfold Sunday is free agency we are going to see a whirlwind of Trades signings all types of crazy stuff and if you don’t want to miss out a single
