Changes in the CBA that start on 7/1: 1. A team is now allowed to acquire a player under contract into their non-tax, biannual, tax or room exception. Example: Dallas can acquire Quentin Grimes into their $4.7M biannual exception.

  1. We are sending out THJ in the trade, so we don’t have to use the exception anyways.

Oh wow that’s such an interesting change. Can someone outline an example where it would benefit a team to do this? Quentin Grimes into our BAE doesn’t help us since we sent out salary right? Better to keep the BAE for something else?

“Example: Dallas can acquire Quentin Grimes into their $4.7M biannual exception. This would allow the Mavericks to create $16.2M trade exception from the Tim Hardaway Jr. trade. The Mavericks would be hard capped at the $178.7M first apron.”

Honestly, this could be phenomenal if done correctly. Not saying this is going to happen but this could be a possibility.

    Get Grimes into the BAE

Trade Hardy and a 2nd to the Warriors for Klay to slide into the trade exception

    Resign DJJ to the MLE

S&T Maxi and Green for KCP or Grant

It would potentially give us an option to get 1 more big player
