Chicago Bulls SIGN Patrick Williams to 5 year/$90M Extensio

we’ve got some breaking news ladies and gentlemen of course I was able to just get my kids down for bed was hoping to enjoy a nice quiet Saturday night with my wife but we’ve got some breaking news Patrick Williams according to shasham shiria Patrick Williams has signed a fiveyear $90 million deal with the Chicago Bulls which uh you know to be honest I know a lot of fans are going to be up in arms that he’s going to be getting close to $18 million annually but when you actually factor in his production the fact that he has a very highly coveted skill in the NBA and the fact that he’s able to shoot three-pointers above 40% defends at a high level I think the biggest concern for me and I’ve talked about this before uh is his health when we heard from AK in his uh press conference after the draft he was talking about how he hopes that he’s ready to go by training camp that is never a good sign when we’ve heard stuff like that before from AK when he was talking about Lonzo ball and you’d have to hope that this is not going to be a recurring issue that is going to go on throughout his fiveyear contract because that’s a long time we don’t know all the details as are yet cuz I’m just now recording shortly after this news broke we don’t know if all the years are guaranteed or if there’s a player option A Team option the final year if part of it’s guaranteed or not all that good stuff I’m sure that will come out within time but the fact that we haven’t really heard much in terms of Pat’s health and whether or not he’s going to be fully able to recover is a bit concerning when you just sign him to a 5-year contract but assuming from a health standpoint Patrick Williams is going to be okay you have to understand 5 years the guy’s 22 right now I believe leaves by the end of this deal he’s going to be 27 in the peak of his Prime at $18 million a year at that point in the fourth or fifth year of this deal is going to be around the mid-level exception that is incredible value for a player like Patrick Williams I think we need to get beyond the point that he’s ever going to be this Superstar this kawh loner 2.0 that was never going to happen but if he’s even just a highlevel role player a guy that can consistently play defense well can shoot it from outside that’s really all that the Bulls need for someone who’s making $18 million a year it’s not good value in terms of this upcoming season because that’s still a pretty high rate for someone like Patrick Williams but going forward it’s going to be more and more favorable as time goes on the fact that Pat was able to get something like this though at$ million a year is very telling as it relates to the future of DeMar rosen because now the Bulls are very very stretch thin in being able to offer Demar to Rosen an extension I think the writing is already on the wall that dear is either going to walk or they’re going to a sign and trade of some kind there’s no way they’re going to be able to afford keeping him around while also remaining under the luxury tax but that will obviously come within just a few short hours uh free agency is actually scheduled to open tomorrow afternoon my time anyway 600 p.m. eastern time so we’re going to have a lot of updates on them in terms of whether or not the bulls actually reached an extension with DeMar rosen or if he becomes an unrestricted free agent and then obviously whatever free agency brings whether the BS are going to be signing some additional players whether they’re going to be bringing dear back if it’s going to be through a signning trade all that good stuff so I’ll obviously keep you guys posted and I’ll have a more detailed video as it relates to this particular extension from Patrick Williams um so let me know what you guys think breaking news uh let me know in the comments as always be sure to subscribe and I’ll see you in the next one

  1. I believe in Pat. We'll most likely go into rebuild mode, and we've hit on our other two re-signings on our young guys, so we have to keep the streak going

  2. terrible contract no way around it. A 10 PPG guy with good defense doesn’t deserve 90 million. I know they’re paying based on what his potential could be, but 90 is insane

  3. I want us to go after Wiseman probably can get him on a cheap journey man deal he might be the 3&D stretch 5 the warriors wanted him to be but most definitely a solid 5

  4. Excited for a rebuild and this move makes sense in that light! Keep the young guys, trade the old guys and let’s watch some ball with energy and potential.

  5. so deebo most likely gone then? unless out of nowhere jerry decides to pay the tax…

  6. There's always going to be a spot on a roster for an athletic 3 and d forward who is switchable. Good signing. The only question is whether he can remain healthy.

  7. Even if he's only a solid 3 and D guy this is good value for 2 years and then amazing value in years 3-5. I'm happy with the signing. 20-22/year was going to be hard to swallow, especially in years 1 and 2. Not bad, not bad at all.

  8. Thank you J. It's clear the Bulls are going young. I like the move even with the injury history.

  9. Yall are smoking lolll 😅 this is baddd lol so in other words the front office still going to be doing the same thing after change was promise 😂

  10. I wanna hear the bulls fans opinions, I just don’t think he is worth the 5 years because he haven’t really proved it and also every time the bulls give someone a 5 year deal something bad happens. I know he has a lot of growing to do and learning about the game but I think over the last few seasons he haven’t really proved to be worth 5 years… What you guys think??

  11. That actually really isn't a whole lot, when you look at the landscape of the salaries today. I was always worried that he was going to be one of those guys who was going to leave, and figure it out, somewhere else. But if the blowup happens, let's see if he rises from the ashes.

  12. What a beautiful contract , Patrick is going to be great , sure he’s had a slow start but he can turn the corner this season , I’m excited !

  13. Jesus Christ man I really can’t be bothered with bulls front office we can not keep running small ball line ups In eastern conference when we got teams like the Celtics curve stomping teams with 7ft3 center Patrick Williams is undersize 6ft7 PF who isn’t even good we never should have gotten rid of Lauri Markkanen at least he was 7ft we are not the warriors small doesn’t work for us I remember last year we had DeMar DeRozan playing PF at 6ft6

  14. Pat need to get his true position. My ideal line up is this :

    Coby 1-2
    Giddey 1-2
    Pat 3
    Matas 4
    Drummond 5

  15. I think its a little over pay but I think it helps in the long term as a trade piece if nothing else.

  16. Tbh, i was just afraid of him going into restricted free agency and getting some crazy offer that the bulls couldn't match. He's way too young for us to give up on him just yet

  17. pat and ayo are the only 2 way players on our team. we need about 7 more. i am glad they kept him.

  18. pat and ayo are the only 2 way players on our team. we need about 7 more. i am glad they kept him.

  19. It's goingnto be interesting to see how he performs with demar leaving. He'll have more scoring opportunities and a pass first gaurd in giddey
