the NBA draft the reigning Champs the Boston Celtics newly minted with that 18th title are on the clock they certainly enjoyed the parade just a couple of years ago and now a new player is headed to the city of Champions right after this I want to stay here you want to stay here I want to stay here you know one more pick can we have one more pick the way that it works around here it’s not a democracy it’s a Richard [Music] we going to commercial you know what just for you rich we will stay right here as the Boston Celtics deliberate who to add to their roster obviously we were just in Boston I was going to say a couple of weeks ago it was like a it was about a week ago that we were Boston I got you that we were in Boston watching them raise a title number Banner number 18 for this Celtics team I mean anyone who joins the squad they are so robust basically at every position you’re going to have a really long development Runway here it for for any player that gets an opportunity to play for the greatest franchise in the NBA that’s the Boston Celtics they won more Championship that is a loaded roster that they have if they call your name you basically get to go to basketball college for another couple of years but if you can break through that then you get to learn so much and I think that can actually help Propel a player as his career goes on with the devel element of all of that Talent they have they have a perfect team every team right now is aiming for them everyone is chasing the Boston Celtics they are the reigning champions for a reason but we’ve had a couple of interesting conversations over the last uh couple of days here about repeating in the NBA and how difficult that is to do particularly with the new rules that are coming in and the parody that everybody from top to bottom really wants to see for the Boston Celtics to do that what would be required for them to show up with everybody again healthy yeah that is it they don’t need to add a single player you have to give credit to Brad Stevens you have to give credit to even their coaching tree being able to find you know coaches that can step in and do what they have done Brad Stevens was a coach then you had Oka and so it’s just so impressive to watch Missoula do what he did with very limited experience and now they have like I said they have a perfect roster that everybody is trying to load up and match what they have I just want to address as the Celtics are contemplating who they are going to pick here there are still several young men right here that are in The Green Room there’s only one pick that is left to be made here in the first round and and we’ve talked about this your hopes Andrea of playing in the WNBA how that didn’t necessarily come to fruition but just contextualize I mean I can’t imagine how those young men are feeling right now well getting invited here in the first place is an honor and it’s a testament to the work that they did it is a testament to the season that they had so I’m sure it is difficult but the fact that they’re here the fact that they draft eligible the fact that they are being considered and if they don’t get drafted tonight High chances that they’re going to get drafted tomorrow and have a great opportunity probably based on fit so it’s still an honor for these guys even though this might be a tough moment they’re not thinking about they’re not thinking about they not that’s like that’s like it’s nice to be nominated you sounded like Mom like baby it’s be okay baby it’s going be okay baby you you still have Kyle Philip palsky sitting there and still have joh Fury sitting there both who are invited to the green room look we’ve seen this at other times I remember how long Aaron Rogers had to sit in the NFL draft Green Room and obviously things turned out well and your point is well taken but they’re not thinking that right now they’re not thinking that I’m just saying for someone who was nowhere near playing professional basketball this is still a big moment and opportunity for them I know it doesn’t feel like it right now yeah well there’s one more selection to be made here in the first round let’s see who it is the Boston Celtics pick is it [Music] with the 30th pick in the 2024 NBA draft the Boston Celtics select Balor shyan from cron University and that concludes the first round the second round of the draft will begin tomorrow at 400 p.m. eastern time on ESPN thanks to all the fans especially here at Barkley Center thank you and have a good night [Applause] so Baylor shyan from kraton is heading now to the Boston Celtics J Baylor shyan is a big Lefty and a guard that is a deep range shooter shot just under 39% for the season automatic from the free throw line and an outstanding rebounder averaged 19 points a game nine rebounds per game and just about four assists per game but when he grabs a rebound he can take it and run and an excellent passer uh shoots 48% unguarded from the three-point line and a career 39% three-point shooter uh but in his defensive rebound he just knows how to play you know he’s a quarterback in high school grew up in Nebraska went to South Dakota State then transferred to kraton and did a a just a fantastic job under Greg mcder uh having an older guy that knows how to play I think fits very well for Boston he won a state football championship in Nebraska where he played quarterback so he really had a choice of which direction he wanted to go and now he’s heading to the reigning Champs the Boston Celtics so that’s going to conclude the first round for the first time ever the NBA draft is going to be a two night event so we will continue this tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 as we take a look at a night that started
