Detroit Pistons Just Stole The NBA Draft

the NBA draft a time for optimism Finding Diamonds in the Rough and potential leaders for your organization did the Detroit Pistons in the Motor City just find that let’s talk about it my name is Aaron thank you so much for tuning in the daily huddle along with hosts Nate and Ben we bring you upto-date big news in sports if it’s Sports we’re going to talk about it here on a daily basis rumors miss out and comment below so my question is first of all what do you guys think about the Detroit Pistons pick uh fifth overall fifth overall there we go Ron H Holland I was about to say Ron Howard nope that’s uh the wrong guy that’s the movie director anyways Arrested Development great show if you’ve never watched it uh I digress Ron Holland picked up by the Detroit Pistons now before we get started one of the biggest glaring things with with Holland is people are like okay he’s a great player but he can’t shoot he can’t shoot he can’t shoot before anyone gets too too upset about that this is what I want to tell you there have been multiple great players recently in the NBA who have came in more of a defensive player uh to the rim type player and have greatly improved their shooting game when it comes to their mid-range game their behind the arc game all that stuff so don’t get all upset about that it can be worked on again this draft class A lot of people were saying it’s not that great it’s not that great but listen I think there can be some Diamond Diamonds in the Rough here I think there can be some players in this draft uh that the Pistons can get that they can really mold and if they really work at it and they don’t just throw them in there and baptism by fire uh I think they can really develop them now obviously Ron Holland hey get all the playing time you need but as well let’s get him a shooting coach look at Kawhi Leonard Kawhi Lenard got a shooting coach when he was in San Antonio he wasn’t the best shooter uh but he developed that shot uh and along with pairing that with his defensive skills turned into a great player was finals MVP uh for the Spurs then went on to Toronto one-1 uh for the the true north up there uh and Drake we won’t get into Drake but that being said he dominated he’s done well uh he hasn’t done as great for the clippers but you know injury and stuff aside he’s a great player Jimmy Butler is another one he came in as well very athletic gosh High motor uh but shooting wasn’t ideal now working on his shooting he is turned into a more reliable three-point shooter is he the best three-point shooter on his team gosh no but he’s more reliable uh if he has that shot willing to take it so these are just examples that you know pump the braks when it comes to well he can’t shoot he can’t shoot he can’t shoot steady he’ll be fine okay that being said let’s see what uh some of the initial reactions were and so again uh fifth overall pick golly 38 inch vertical ridiculous um 6’1 wingspan uh stands at 67 guy is just a giant I can’t imagine being 67 and having a 38 in vertical insane here’s our boy taan Prince don’t know why they have him in here but awesome what’s up taan we have the same birthday fun fact uh but a lot of the rankings bb+ um a I love the a one right here uh super athletic Wing who can’t uh who can’t shoot last year uh oh sorry Detroit drafted another Super athletic Wing who can’t shoot last year in Thompson obviously the Pistons have badly needed spacing around Kate Cunningham and they they keep going the other way although it’s worth noting that the team has a brand new front office all right still I believe Holland is one of the best players in the draft for his athleticism slashing transition scoring and defensive motor that’s big we need to bring that back to the Pistons the Pistons need that they need kind of that dog mentality that chip on their shoulder that’s how that’s when they play best uh sorry I’m getting passion over here I’m a Pistons fan uh playing hard is a skill uh and no one’s uh no one plays harder in this class than Holland I think that’s hu that’s again you look at the Detroit Lines I know you’re like Aaron this is we’re talking Pistons I know hear me out on this the Detroit Lions brought in Campbell changed the culture that dog mentality that nothing is given to me all right it is earned that that high motor I’m going to go out and and do my best you know it’s not about me it’s about the team kind of mentality that’s huge and I think Detroit as a whole needs to take that on the Tigers uh obviously the lines the Pistons uh the Red Wings they take that mentality like everyone always just dogs on Detroit like hey go out there play your butt off work hard that’s the type of players that we want in Detroit that being said I’m off my Soap Box um uh he’s it says weird fit but undeniably talented uh there’s another one on here I don’t know if I can find it come on see where is this at C come on Bleacher Report you’re trash what do they say here the Pistons need to expand their talent base duh and this new front office just took one more intriguing uh flyers in this class yeah but here here’s the deal again we look at this draft class how many experts have said hey this isn’t a great draft class this is probably one of the worst in the past decade all these different things okay hey if you’re going to take a chance take a chance on this guy who again we go back to is a hard worker is gonna going to put in the time if he can work on that shooting man he could be a superstar sports news they loved it this was it this was right uh he was once in the running to go number one overall which was that’s big so if if we can develop Holland like we we we should be able to uh then people could look back you know when they do those redraft classes where they say okay we’re g to we’re going to pretend that we’re redrafting the class of 2024 again and they do it um and or like when Steph Curry you know when he was taken golly was it seventh overall you know he’s usually redrafted in like one two or three in that whatever but that being said you know he has that potential look back where they’re like man what this guy was a steal at five um and so he top five talent in the class huge athletic loves it not that I necessarily care about their opinion but it is what it is um and then you know we we look at kind of his stats when he was in the G league and again he is 18 years old on July 7th he turns 19 a teenager that is insane and so plenty of time to develop don’t expect him to be thrown right in there uh and be this uh offensive Juggernaut I don’t think that’s going to be the case I think he’s going to help a lot on defense um getting more of uh like length uh on the wings defending but uh that being said Don’t expect him to come in uh here’s another one right here uh could have been projected at times to be the number one pick again steel steel steal all right and uh but that being said average solid points uh two and a half steals you that lets you know he’s a he’s a ball Hawk he’s going after it um but I think ton of potential for Holland I think uh glass half full the uh Pistons fans uh should be optimis optimistic with this pick uh and then here are just some highlights that I [Music] found solid Drive [Music] got uh it’s going to be hard so you can tell Not Afraid [Music] [Applause] [Music] cont so [Music] heal ad right here lot of potential for Ron Howard lot of potential for the Detroit Pistons another player uh a younger guy that they can hopefully develop but I I truly believe for Pistons fans you can’t go any lower than this past year the only way you’re looking is up new head coach coming in uh new front office uh new player in Ron Holland things are looking up get that shot down let’s bring back the Pistons of old what do you guys think is Ron Holland going to be a solid contributor for the Pistons um how long do you think going to take those are my two questions do you think he’s going to be a solid contrib contributor and if so how long is that going to take a year two years uh is he going to come out of the gate uh playing well this first season
