Who is the best player in Houston Rockets history?

teacher talking Sports what it does what it do how we liveing let’s continue the series I’ve been doing where I attempt to name the best player in each NBA franchise’s history I’ve been going in alphabetical order today we are doing the Houston Rockets now the Rockets inaugural season was the 6768 season were known as the San Diego Rockets they were known as after four seasons before the 7172 season where they became the Houston Rockets and have been known as that since they’ve played 57 seasons of NBA action won two titles they came in back-to-back years in 1994 and 1995 now before I name the goat of each franchise I’ve been uh revisiting my NBA Mount rushmor I did two years ago where I attempted to name the four best players in franchise history um just taking a look to see if I would make any changes before I reveal the goat I did not make any changes in the two years that have since passed so in alphabetical order my Mount Rushmore for the Rockets was is James Harden Harden won three scoring championships uh three straight Seasons 20178 to 201920 and one MVP the first of those season Elvin Hayes played his first four seasons with the Rockets last three as well well won a scoring title as a rookie and led the league in rebounding his second season Moses Malone basically played six seasons with the Rockets won two MVPs in 81 82 and 7879 and Hakim aluan played 18 seasons in the NBA the first 17 of which came with the Houston Rockets some honorable mentions include Clyde jackler Thorp Rudy tomjanovich Steve Francis Yao Ming Tracy McGrady Ralph Samson and Calvin Murphy but in the end my alltime best Rockets player their goat has to be the dream Hakeem alijan alijan was the first overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft as mentioned play his first 17 Seasons with the Rockets before spending his final season with the Toronto Raptors lajuan was named the MVP in the 9394 season also finished Defensive Player of the Year back the back years 9293 and 9394 uh was the member of both Rockets championship teams in ’94 95 and both of those times was named the finals MVP uh the greatest shot Blocker in NBA history career shot blocks let’s take a look at his season by season numbers via his basketball reference page so not only did he win MVP he also finished runner up uh fourth twice Fifth twice 7th four times uh so many times seen as a top seven MVP finisher he had a total of six NBA first team finishes uh finished defensive first team a total of five times had some second U all defensive second third all NBAs as well uh for his career well at least with the Rockets his 17 Seasons career averages 22 and 1 12 points 11.4 rebounds 2 and assist 1.8 Steals and 3.2 block shot 51.3% from the field for his career uh twice alijan led the league in rebounds 8889 and 8990 uh each of his first 12 seasons in the NBA he averaged double digits and rebounds three times he led the leagues in blocks 8990 9091 and 9293 every season from 858 86 except one 8586 to 9495 so in that 10-year period nine times he averaged at least 3.4 blocks per game average 2.7 in 8788 each of his first 13 seasons in the NBA 8485 to 9697 aliju on average more than 20 points per game um also in those 13 Seasons he shot over 50% from the field in each of them in the playoffs he was just as good 140 career playoff games with the Rockets averages of 26.6 points 11.4 rebounds 3.3 assists 1.7 steals 3.3 blocks shooting 52.8% from the field and as I mentioned won two championships both finals MVPs so all time so elijan played one season with the Raptors as I mentioned but did most of the damage with the Rockets uh that was the last season of his career with the Raptors wasn’t quite the same player but anyhow all time he ranks 13th with his 26,4 196 points 14th all time with his 13,740 rebounds 10th all time as a center with this 2,16 62 career Steals and as mentioned he’s the oldtime leader in blocks with 3,830 kajuan the goat of the Rockets franchise let me know in the comments if you agree I’m sure most of you do uh maybe if you would make any changes to the Mount Rushmore who would you say is runner up Harden Malone Hayes let me know in the comments now with all these I take a look at the AC of roster decide if anyone can has a chance to overtake the goat no maybe make them out Rush more or at least honorable mention we know that Rockets have a very young team alrin sengun Jaylen green Jabari Smith um so maybe all those guys maybe one of them could find their way on as an honorable mention but um you know we’ll see how how senon develops almost like um a joker light not you know not saying he’s as good as joic but um one of the best big man passers in the game right now uh but time will tell these guys are still young in their career stay tuned for tomorrow when I name the best player in Indiana Pacers franchise history anyhow don’t forget to subscribe tell a friend tell a friend tell friend subscribe like the video share the video hit the bell for notification I’m out

In this series, I will name who I believe to be the best player in each NBA franchise’s history. Let’s continue with the Houston Rockets. #nba #rockets #hakeemolajuwon
