after Klay Thompson deleted all the photos that have anything to do with the dubs on IG last week the writing seems to be on the wall now for the other half of the Splash Brothers but despite how saddening this situation might be for dubs fans there’s actually a silver lining waiting on the horizon cuz according to recent reports the Warriors have officially joined the Paul George sweep stakes and from the looks of their roster situation they actually have a real shot at a firing PG if they play their cards right should this trade happen PG is not just going to be any other replacement for clay I mean this is a heck of an upgrade that will shake the core in the west and possibly bring the dubs back in the contention still playing in his prime at 34 years old PG is a top five two-way player who can drop buckets better than clay and hit buckets on tough stretches of the game with the championship window slowly closing out on Steph and Draymond adding PG to the mix might just Revitalize their Championship hopes and prolong that window a bit more because he’s a legit bucket getter who can help out step on the offense end and at the same time he’s also a premier Wing Defender who can take some load off draymond’s defensive duties on paper the trio of Steph PG and Draymond looks extremely scary and has the chance to make some real noise in the Stacked and much more competitive Western Conference however before we get all too excited about this theoretical trade nothing is set in stone yet as PG has yet to come up with a decision and as for the Warriors they also need to take care of some problems in their own backyard should they really want to pursue PG see the real reason why PG’s name came up quickly in the past few days has something to do with his contract situation I mean PG is due $48 million next season and it has a player option attached to it now Reports say that PG is looking for a 4-year Max contract extension with the Clippers however the Clippers despite having a new Arena and a player-friendly owner are only offering PG a three-year extension at less than max value this is where the trade rumors started to pick up steam as multiple teams like Orlando OKC Philly and the dubs are eyeing to add PG to beef up their respective rosters but among these ball clubs the Warriors have recently emerged as the top candidate to land PG because they’re willing to go all in by giving him what he always wanted golden state is Big Fish hunting remember last last trade deadline they put a call in about LeBron James they have they are sniffing around big deals if Paul George is willing to leave they would like to be an option for him but any of these places that that Paul would would need to go via trade would have to get worked out with the Clippers and would have to get worked out by Saturday the Clippers I think in a position where they kind of want to call Paul’s Bluff that he would actually want to leave his hometown of La so that’s one of the most interesting things to watch in terms of uh staredowns between now and this weekend as Wendy said In that clip the Warriors had been targeting big names since the last season when they tried luring LeBron during the trade deadline and even tried bringing KD back with this being said this only means that they’re not afraid to splurge a ton of money in exchange for a superstar which is why I believe that this Paul George trade has a realistic chance of happening well aside from the Dub’s willingness to go for the big fish in the pond the Warriors also have the financial flexibility to make this happen however there are different scenarios that they have to consider first before this deal can be done and on top of their priority list is Klay Thompson now we all know that clay and the dubs are not seeing eye to eye in terms of the ongoing contract negotiations and his decision can definitely make or break this potential blockbuster trade see if clay walks away the Warriors could acquire PG by waving Chris Paul’s $30 million off the books first then trading some of their young core like pods tjd and Moody while topping it all off with a bunch of future round picks in this scenario the dubs keep their top prized Prospect in Jonathan kuminga as well as Andrew Wiggins who can play the four spot in the starting lineup or make an impact as a bench player a first five featuring Steph PG kaminga Wiggins and Draymond is looking like a much improved version of the death lineup that they had years ago with a unique combination of size athleticism and versatility and although they’ve lost some depth this is still a formidable Squad that could go all the way deep in the playoffs anyway here’s scenario number two should clay bury the hatch it with the dubs and accept a team-friendly offer the dubs will definitely have to say goodbye to CP3 and wigs along with their massive salaries in order to squeeze Paul George in in this scenario clay will have to step back and take a reduced role to make way for PG in the starting lineup although there are times that clay may play alongside PG I think it’s best for clay to come off the bench and play the role of the sixth man cuz they will need every ounce of Firepower they can get when the starters sit out especially with their bench wearing thin now what if the dubs cave into Clay’s demands and resign him to his desired amount well if this is the case the Warriors are not going to have that much Financial Elbow Room compared to the first two scenarios and they have no choice but to sacrifice a lot of pieces just to get this trade done I mean they have to get rid of CP3s and wigs contracts and on top of this they may have to trade Jonathan cuming and Moses Moody as well out of the three possible scenarios I think the second scenario is the best move the Warriors can take to me the pieces that are disposable and replaceable at this point are CP3 and wigs the Warriors can package them in a trade to the Clippers along with gp2 Looney and two future first round picks in exchange for Paul George if we’re going to analyze this a bit deeper this allows the dobs to have PG acting as the super sidekick to St while not trading away kuminga in the process and more importantly they’re able to keep clay in the Bay Area even if he’s going to be playing on a reduced role now that’s just my personal opinion because as a longtime Warriors fan I’m still hoping that clay will find a reason to stay despite what the recent signs suggest but if clay walks away then that’s just the way it is and from a business perspective the logical thing to do is to find a suitable replacement for him and someone who will fit along side Steph so they can continue competing for championships in the years to come and as I talked about earlier PG is way more than qualified to fill in the shoes that clay will be leaving in case worst comes to worst in terms of offensive fit PG compliments Steph very well since he can get his shots up off of pin down or running around screens just like clay but see the main difference is that PG is a more capable and creative scorer who can manufacture facture his own shots and hit tough buckets off the dribble on the defensive end PG can take tougher defensive assignments regardless of whether he’s going up against bigger wings and quicker guards because he has the size length and tremendous defensive anticipation to lock them all down now despite the remarkable things that I just said about PG some analysts out there like Stephen A think that worth you know the money that he’s asking for particularly in today’s NBA economy you’re damn right he’s worth it um I would just tell you in that system the way that they play knowing that Steph Curry would be his teammate Paul George can ball and he can hit a three uh he can get to the basket he’s a big- Time Defender as well when he’s committed to doing so all of those things are true I just don’t view him as a catch and shoot guy I view him as somebody legs perk that has the potential to disrupt their Rhythm he’s better suited for the Clippers he’s better suited for Philadelphia he would have been better suited for the New York Knicks to some degree rather than Golden State that’s just how I view it I could be wrong but that’s how I see him watching him and his style of play uh ju opposed that to how Golden State balls I just view them as a bit different anyway anyway I still believe that PG would be a great fit for the Warriors should they pursue him but to me the bigger and much more important concern here for the dubs is how much they’re willing to give up for the 34-year-old Paul George the Clippers will definitely ask for a hefty price tag in exchange for PG and
