REACTION: JB Bickerstaff becomes DET head coach! Cleveland Cavaliers, Cavs news (Junkyard Pod)

this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for for the thousands independants and the millions watching around the [Applause] world let’s get ready [Applause] [Music] for Welcome to the junkyard pod today I have a quick reaction video on some new news that just dropped the Detroit Pistons have announced former Cavalier JB bicker staff as their new head coach which means they are about to lead the league in holding their opponent under 100 points while still losing every game because they can’t score 85 points themselves in other words real Hoops is back in Detroit Ron Holland the fifth overall pick in the draft will be following the same developmental path that Isaac auro did where he stands in the corner and isn’t allowed to touch the ball while Cate Cunningham and Isaiah Stewart run pick and roll for 38 minutes and okay let me relax let me Chill on JB for a second because all jokes aside I think he’s the right guy for the job in Detroit the Pistons have been acquiring young talent for a few years now talent that you could argue doesn’t fit very well together and so who better to make that work than JB bicker staff a guy who found genuine success in a rebuilding situation with the Cavaliers taking over midseason and helping them turn things around in a short matter of time time now I know Cavs fans never want to give JB credit for his role and all of that uh but I do think it’s important to be fair and objective we might never know what a lineup of four non-sh shooting non- dribbling big men can do if it weren’t for JB bicker staff I mean if anyone is going to serve as tank commander and bring Cooper flag to Detroit it’s the guy who gave us this and before anyone leaves a comment I promise I actually like JB as a coach I’ve been totally joking here and I think he contributed heavily to the success that the Cavaliers had from 2021 through most of Donovan Mitchell’s tenure I think there’s probably a ceiling to how far a JB Le team can get you and I think he hit that ceiling once Mitchell joined the Cavs but JB is also one of the younger coaches in the league so maybe that will change with time it’s possible for him to grow as a coach I legitimately think JB is one of the better coaches in the NBA even if he’s probably not in the tier of guys who can take a team to the promised land he’s still one of your better options especially for a rebuilding team and so overall like I said he probably just hit his ceiling in Cleveland and it was time for both sides to move on the Cavs now have an offensive-minded coach to help solve some of their biggest issues while JB is back in a rebuilding situation which is perfect for him this type of role is where JB truly shined as a leader and if he can bring back some of that culture he established in Cleveland then I think the Pistons will find finally get on the right track towards competing once again I’m excited that JB is back in the NBA so quickly with a brand new roster to work with I think with guys like Ron Holland assar Thompson Ivy durren even Cunningham could all turn into Elite defensive players under JB and form a really interesting Squad JB signed a five-year deal with Detroit so that gives him plenty of time to form an Implement a vision throughout his run and I’d like everyone to predict how long it takes JB to run three bigs on the floor at the same time this is something he just can’t seem to resist doing and I know he must be sick that they let go of James wisman before he took over but again I’m happy for JB I think this was a good place for him to land and I’m rooting for him I wonder how different he will be in Detroit if there are any major changes to his philosophy what did he learn from his time in Cleveland are my biggest questions is he more willing to bench certain guys and experiment with developing players now that the expectations around the team are much much lower uh can JB rally a locker room the way that he did at the start of his time in Cleveland and is he able to replicate the defensive success that we saw with the Cavs or was it just a product of having two Elite defensive anchors in Moy and Allen these are things I’m really looking forward to finding out I think JB has a lot to prove with a nice Runway to do so with the Pistons over the next 5 years and so that’s going to do it for this really quick episode of the support that you have given me here uh even if I have angered the Craig Porter Jr fans by saying that I wasn’t super impressed with him in the back half of the season I really do appreciate all the support and even these comments uh and also for the record I love cpj I’ve been raving about him since the moment the C signed him I think he will have a long successful NBA career but it is what it is I’ll have more videos dropping as free agency unfolds today also I know I need to update the intro video and remove JB but I’ll get to it soon enough and with all that being said go Cavs [Music]
