I actually agree with Barry on this one. I’ve been a Heat fan for more than two decades now and this has been their MO for a long time now which is why I’ve been confused for people calling for a “rebuild” or even go all in on a non-existent option; it won’t happen.
I understand how it can be frustrating for some but this will forever be how a Pat Riley led team operates. He’s not “washed”, and if he is, he’s been washed for the last two decades when we’ve had a lot of success.

> They’ll continue waiting, hoping to pounce on next opportunity that appeals to them.
Well that’s exactly what they’ve been doing for the past 5 years in Jimmy era. Rivals in the East continuously sought to improve aggressively and eventually got over the hump like Boston or Milwaukee did. Perhaps they should stop being so fucking passive?
Miami FO has been so fucking passive during this Jimmy era. They always wait for the *stars to align* perfectly but in reality those moves rarely come around and instead Micky Arison is busy making salary dumping moves. Wasted most of their 2nd round picks dumping salaries while other teams use 2nd round picks to obtain a role player. Amended protection of 2025 pick to OKC to salary dump KZ Okpala and now we can’t even trade 2026 pick. Paid 77M per year combined to Herro, Robinson and Kyle Lowry. Horrible asset management so far in this Jimmy era and I don’t care if Pat Riley cult in this sub downvotes me to hell. They deserve some criticism.
I can’t believe they want to run it back again after seeing what Boston did last summer after losing to us in ECF and winning a championship this year. If they truly think this roster, even when healthy, is good enough to win it all, they are delusional. Unfortunately it seems like that is the case.
People forget its a business. We are competitive and marketable under tax with stars, good young talent and rising stars with history of contention(2 finals, 3 ecf). The management will want to have maximum revenue with spending less to earn money. It’s not a losing business for heat for decades and won’t be. They know their job to focus on their stakeholders (internal and external) the same case as relatively existing as a significant force in the league.
We will hunt whales when needed, we will catch distressed superstars when they ask, we will land big fishes when its available. We train and develop from our academy so the turnover rate of key role players are manageable when our role player progresses so we wont need to pay too much

As long as Pat is in the FO and Spo is in the prime of his coaching you will not see a rebuild. I for one appreciate that I can root for my team every year and not see them average 16-25 wins per season like the wizards and pistons. Can it be frustrating watching the team fall short all the time? Absolutely, but damn I’m glad my team isn’t a total shitcan.

I actually don’t see the Love part the way he does. If they were in a rebuild and acquired young talent, Kevin would be the perfect veteran in the locker room to mentor and have present for them.

But folks will call us clowns and coping hard 😭 I’m watching the heat regardless and honestly I’m excited to watch the young guys play.

Stay healthy, play defense and get hot at the right time and this roster can absolutely contend. Having the “best” roster guarantees nothing but a playoff spot.

At this point every year I just expect nothing to happen
And when something does I’ll be pleasantly surprised

Owner is content being a decent team that is always in the playoffs. Anything more than that is extra. Ownership sees this team as a business, they refuse to take a season to tank, would be bad for business. We need to accept we will remain mediocre and will continuously burn assets for minimal gains to remain a play off team even if it means we aren’t a championship level team.
