yo what’s going on guys it’s Houston Sports Talk Back another video today and today the Houston Rockets have made a trade the Rockets are trading the 44th overall pick and the 2024 NBA draft for AJ Griffin small forward shooting guard for the Atlanta Hawks I love this trade but also I nailed it I have said for weeks and weeks before this draft has started second round being today at 3:00 4:00 eastern time that the Rockets will not use the 44th overall pick the Houston Rockets have not selected a player in the second round since 2018 and a very smart move for the Rockets to go with a experienced two-year player who is a good three-point shooter instead of picking someone in the second round last player of the Rockets selected in the second round was 2018 with DeAnthony Melton I love this trade for the Rockets only giving up a second round pick for a guy who has been really good in two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks I want to go over what he did as a rookie year I will go over stats from this past season but a good you know what what he did in playing time with his rookie season 22 23 season with Atlanta 72 games 12 starts 19.5 minutes per game his field goal percentage was 46.5% from three with four attempts per game he shot 39% like I’ve continued to said the rockets need three-point shooting did it last night with adding in Reed Shepard um you know bringing him in in the draft now you bring in another shooter love the AJ Griffin addition he also averaged nine points per game he averaged 2.1 rebounds per game one assist per game and almost one steal per game as a rookie now this past season Atlanta completely push him out of the rotation he had a couple injury problems only played 20 games only got 9 minutes per game but averaged 2.4 points per game one rebound per game uh he also from three shot 26% but only took two attempts per game it was barely playing his field goal percentage was 29% so like I really feel like you know obviously I feel like if he was playing more if he was playing you know the amount he was playing in in the 2022 23 season his rookie season things would be different I love this addition for the rocket the fact that they only have to give up a you know a a mid second round pick for a guy who is a good three-point shooter decent scorer decent rebounder I really love the addition for the Rockets let know your thoughts on the trade in the comment section for the rockets and peace out
