Orlando is a more desirable place to live than Denver unfortunately. Close to Miami and a lot closer to Atlanta too, where he’s from.
Orlando are also on the up, so it’s not like he’s moving to a team *that* much worse than what we project to be

I blame this on Jokic pouring beer down KCP’S back and shooing him away from his interview after they won the finals.
Weird-Upstairs-2092
Probably an option difference.
Big difference in the ‘same’ 3 years for 66m if Orlando gave him a player option and Nuggets were offering a team option
LegendOfTooget
Because KCP is a grown ass man with priorities that we don’t necessarily know about.

Booth is an ass?
Sammonov
Calling KCP “replaceable” and saying you would not get into a bidding war for him because we would be fine without him likely didn’t help.
LACIRCA2044
They have a black coach too which is important for a lot of black players

Welp we are gonna miss KCP, so many clutch shots, every player on that chip team is a Nuggets legend as far as I’m concerned, KCP was nothing but professional, and clutch here, thats why is getting paid to go home to his family. Nothing but respect and appreciation from this long suffering now grateful nuggets fan.

We didnt match. We came close. We could have offered more than we did And booth decided not to. So we lose a starter on the two best teams Denver has ever had. And probably ever will have. I think it’s a bad decision and it sucks.

Even a match is still a 5% pay cut because of state income tax. And not to piss anyone off or anything, but living in Orlando might be preferable to living in Denver for some people.

Can we please stop giving out player options in every deal we make?

For the same reason$ former Bronco players leave for Jacksonville

I don’t know why the NBA doesnt do contracts on a net basis. Feels like this way teams from states with lower income tax will always have a slight advantage.
