Prayers up for wherever JD lands Love that guy

  2. coacoanutbenjamn

I was going to say maybe we trade for Jerrace Walker but we have no matching salary other than Jaden Springer’s 4 mil

  3. SoulReaper12

If the Sixers somehow get both PG/KCP how do they stack up against us? I think the Knicks is still deeper in have the defensive personnel, but the Sixers shooting especially if they re-signed Batum/Lowry/Oubre could be a problem.

Seems like PG is going to Philly. Here’s why I’m not worried:

They’d have to use basically all of their cap space to get him. They’d have like $14 million in space afterwards and they’d only have Embiid, Maxey, George, Reed, their rookie, and Ricky Council IV. Good luck filling out the team with playoff quality players

    Some quick thoughts:
    * I can see us re-signing both Kornet and Tillman since we have their bird rights, which is essentially the only way we can sign FAs for more the the minimum. I could also see us being interested in Mo Bamba since he’s at least a theoretical rim protector who can stretch the floor. Maybe we could get more consistent play out of him being in a great situation and all that, or maybe he would flop. I could see a world where we think the risk is worth the reward.
    * We also might bring Brissett back. IMO depends on if we sign Anton Watson to a 2nd year exception contract or a 2-way contract. I think we’ll prioritize big man depth, and there are only so many roster spots.
    * I’d like to see us bring in a vet who fits our culture and has something to prove. Gary Harris comes to mind. Good spot-up shooter, solid defender, hasn’t been in a situation with good spacing since his early Denver days. He played in the playoffs last season, but he couldn’t get going offensively due to the Magic’s poor spacing, and he got bounced in the 1st round. I’m willing to bet he’s hungry for a better role and more team success.
    * I think we got a little lucky with PG health last season. Having an end-of-bench guy who can step in as a backup if need be would be nice. Jordan McLaughlin or Aaron Holiday would do the trick.

So my question is who are some of the players we don’t want to keep and who do we replace them with? Personally I think SVI is gone.

  7. It’s kinda funny there was that meme about Tatum but isn’t PG actually the Michael Jordan of Tobias Harris’s? It’s an upgrade over actual Tobias Harris for philly but funny where we’ve ended up.

  8. CP3 singing a vet min to come here will hit like CRACK. Actually though hope he goes to the Spurs, that would be super fun to watch.

Here are my totally correct, non-chaotic 3pm predictions for how major storylines / major players in free agency shake down, because it’s a fun time of year and easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of it all:

    * Celtics will re-sign all of Luke Kornet, Xavier Tillman AND Neemias Queta, and then leave the final roster spot open until buyout season.
    * Sixers will sign Paul George at full 4-year max they can offer, re-sign DeAnthony Melton and sign Andre Drummond with remaining cap room, Kelly Oubre with Room Exception, and all of Lowry, Batum, Covington and Bamba return on vet minimums.
    * Magic will sign Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, bring back major rotation pieces Markelle Fultz, Gary Harris, Mo Wagner and Goga Bitadze on longer-term deals with bird rights, and then use their MLE to sign…Gordon Hayward.
    * Thunder will sign Isaiah Hartenstein into cap room, Kyle Anderson on the MLE, re-sign Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe on longer-term deals, and then trade some bench depth and draft capital for Bruce Brown.
    * Spurs are very hard to figure out at the moment, because they’re functioning like an over-the-cap team with the ability to easily maneuver into having like ~20-25m in cap space. For some reason, I think they’ll clear the cap room to sign Tyus Jones to start at point for them (and pair with his brother Tre).
    * I don’t know if the Jazz or Pistons will catch any big fish or even bother using much of their available cap – I get the sense they both might just pivot towards utilizing their room to absorb big contracts and collect assets. I could maybe see Detroit paying for one free agent to do a deadline flip to a contender for assets (someone like Valanciunas maybe?), but it probably makes more sense for both teams to just prioritize playing/developing their young cores and eating some salary dumps to sit on the bench.
    * Lakers will have LeBron re-sign at *just* enough of a discount so they can get a S+T orchestrated with the Bulls for DeMar DeRozan with D’Angelo Russell + Max Christie landing in Chicago, and then poach someone like Tobias Harris to sign as a one year reclamation project on the MLE, all without getting hard capped.
    * Mavericks will also do a S+T with the Warriors for Klay Thompson, sending out Maxi Kleber and Josh Green, and then use the full MLE to re-sign Derrick Jones Jr
    * Warriors will begrudgingly acquire Zach LaVine + draft capital from the Bulls – this could maybe even become part of the Klay Thompson S+T deal to Dallas, where Josh Green + Maxi Kleber gets re-routed from Golden State to Chicago, and Golden State sends out some additional salary (Gary Payton, Kevon Looney) to create more room under the second apron.

  10. Really hope we get Tillman too :/ I love his game

  11. CantHandlemyPP34

Philly got bounced every year with Jimmy Buckets. They ain’t doing shit with the ringless PP.

  12. friendsWthebenedicts

This has got to be the most boring free agency I’ve ever been alive for. Usually within 2 mins there’s like 25+ player signings announced lol the fear of tampering penalties really worked its magic I guess

  13. TatumBrownWhite

Pierce was right… the Nuggets are not a threat, they’re not a serious basketball team anymore with their transactions. *Russ*? In 2024? Seriously?

The Sixers (if they get PG *and* KCP/Klay) and Knicks have shown themselves with their moves that they are serious about trying to challenge us.

  14. Schafer89

Anybody got the numbers on kornet and quetas deals?

  15. Brad-Stevens

KCP is an absolute king for leaving the Nuggets

They in the mud forreal now

  16. With KCP to the Magic, am I crazy for thinking they are a bigger problem next season than either the Sixers or Knicks?

  17. On one hand the Nuggets downfall is great, but on the other hand the Magic just got better. Their defense will be insane.

  18. harshvoldy

This year’s Free Agency is by far the least “stressful” one. Not that I have ever been stressed (except the year when Kyrie and Al left, trying hard to forget that off-season), but I love Brad’s no nonsense, no drama – “this team won it all, let’s bring them back” approach.

  19. Frequent_Life4780

What do you guys think of Batum? A nice 3pt shooter who can switch and play really good defense.

  20. Kei_Thedo

Biggest thing is making sure we got the bigs to survive until KP back, LK, NQ, XT will be good. Maybe could use a wing but their really isn’t much to do with this roster

  21. BatmanGWilliams

Who are the three players that haven’t been signed? Tillman, Oshae, JD?

  22. Credit where credit is due, the Mavs front office is being pretty slick lately.

Swapping DJJ for Naji Marshall for better cost control for a similar ballpark player, to ensure you can keep chasing Klay Thompson, is pretty inspired work.

Personally not sold on Klay on the Mavs, but if that’s your goal then this is a very good way to get there.

  23. The_SchoolBusDriver

Watching other teams fighting over cast offs is a bit relaxing now lol.

  24. Schafer89

Haven’t seen the money for kornet or queta are they mins?

  25. Warm_Intention2190

Honestly bringing back Queta and Kornet was key. In today’s NBA finding a backup big is so hard. Also hopefully X can come back.

I’m honestly not too worried about bringing guys back. I just think we could use another wing, that’s all. Torrey Craig, Haywood Highsmith or Cam Reddish would be nice. Although I heard Derrick Jones Jr didn’t re-sign so that would be interesting.

  26. mrgamecocksandman

Just curious, when should we expect Tatum to sign his extension?

  27. Brad-Stevens

Isaiah Joe 4/48 … Hauser now has leverage to get more than that 😬

  28. OKC adding Hartenstein is the first move someone has made that has me thinking they could be trouble for us.

  29. Yerison109

not the biggest gordon fan but anyway we could scoop him up?
