this is genuinely shocking to me as we have a major Gary Trent Jr contract update for this off seon that reveals the expected contract he was going to get offered in the open market is not going to be the case mess Jeri has the opportunity to bring him back on a way more reasonable contract and frankly given this Market size for Gary I think it’s a necessity that we bring him back additionally we have a wild update regarding yonas valent chunis in terms of where he ended up signing because I know some Toronto Raptors fans wanted to see a reunion with the former Toronto Raptors big man so lots Junior update to myself so no he’s not been signed he didn’t sign in Shanghai or something shocking along those lines but honestly it is a brutal update that frankly really caught me off guard caught me by surprise given everything that we’ve heard about Gary Trent Jr’s contract over the years so essentially a little article and we were taking from multiple places now at this point but Michael Grange came out today and said that a year ago Trent Jr opted to pick up the option on the last year of his three-year contract worth $52 million uh that was his initial contract it wasn’t one season worth 52 it was roughly $1 18819 million option for last season but in the 2021 2022 season he figured there would be a better opportunities in free agency this summer but apparently he was wrong so report goes on to say that certainly the Raptors mindful of their roster building economics after signing Scotty Barnes and Manuel quickly to a combined 400 million dollar worth of new contracts last week uh they were exercising caution and they have they have been allowed to negotiate a new deal with Gary Trent Jr since June 18th and so far there has been crcket so essentially Michael gra again regardless of what you think of his reporting and stuff is tuned in is locked in to the Toronto Raptor system without a doubt you know there’s no if an or butts about it he hasn’t heard anything in regards to a Gary Trent Jr contract incoming really anytime soon which it’s surprising that we haven’t even heard discussions any updates any little Rumblings from either the Raptors from Gary Trent Jr Camp about other teams he might go to there’s been essentially no updates the only thing piece of evidence that we heard was NBA league Executives kind of projecting you know that he’d be in that 17 to20 million range given the fact that that was his contract prior they didn’t expect to pre rays but given the fact that he is a guy that has put up some solid stats over his career right 142 two essentially you know his numbers were down last season but shot 39% from the three-point line and you know 38% from corner 3 only 25 years old you’d expect a shooter with how in demand shooting is across the NBA that he would get some money get some bread well that is not the case in terms of the reports that are coming out here now and we’ve even heard right I alluded to this in the last video the quote from Bobby Webster where uh Bobby came out and said that you want to be strategic about what’s tradable and what’s not tradable we have some big contracts coming up in the future so we’ll have uh it’ll have to be something that makes sense for everyone so again referr to Gary Trent Jr signing extension signing a deal with the Toronto Raptor team but a shocking report and don’t mind the the spelling issue that my robots made on this graphic but essentially an NBA Eastern Conference NBA executive said and it’s come from Michael gra I don’t even think he’s going to get the midlevel exception so that that there when I heard that Gary Trent Jr again a guy that knocks down the threes has shown some potential in the defensive end is not even going to get the midlevel exception which again last season was getting paid $819 million per year he’s not even going to get 12 and guys on comparable contracts comparable skill sets Grayson Allen who is better right he’s more efficient shooter and stuff like that last season probably has more question marks on the defensive end but Grayson Allen got 17 1819 million per and Gary Trent Jr isn’t isn’t even going to be able to make 12 for context someone on his team Bruce Brown who averages less points per game is a better Defender more of a complimentary glue guy type of piece he is making $23 million this season and Gary Trent Jr on the open market can’t even get 12 I just brought up his stats I just brought up those deals that is genuinely crazy in my head because again I get why he’s inconsistent he’s up and down his defense is up and down but he’s not a locker room headache we haven’t heard any bad things about team speaking of Gary trencher he said the right things he hasn’t take the remarkable improvements but he hasn’t been horrible and he has a new coach he had his his Old Coach you know talking smack about him into the media you know on Burner accounts Nick nurse lasses he has not had a bad word to say about anybody he’s been committed to this torona Raptor team he’s not a head case he shoots 40% from the three-point line he still is only 25 years old 25 years old and this man is not going to make $12 million next season that’s crazy that is genuinely kind of shocking to me and yes given everything that we’ve seen you know regarding the Bruce brown pickup uh you know the Raptors draft because the Raptors are moving in the direction of Grady dick jacobe Walter oai abaji is their real three uh shooting guard tandems that they have Off the Bench with the Toronto Raptors next year obviously RJ Barrett’s going to be the starting two for this team but we also have Bruce Brown who’s still under contract hasn’t been traded yet bringing back G Trent Jr I get why some people like ah let’s just let him walk you know free agency the money stuff that all has to be factored in if we can get Gary Trent Jr for a one year two year three year like a 10 million1 million not even the mid-level exception you just make that deal and you run with it I don’t care about roster construction bet fit the Toronto Raptors don’t have the option we are not a good enough team to be picky to be in this spot obviously we don’t want to be a tax team make another trade the value of a Gary Trent Jr at 1011 million is genuinely you know I know steel gets thrown out a lot it is a steal of a contract in the modern NBA when three-point shooting is so coveted so valuable and especially if it’s on a short-term contract people are going to be willing to trade for Bruce Brown’s $23 million contract again that’ll be for a salary dump that’ll be for something along those lines but frankly that is that is crazy I’m looking at the tweets because we have to keep up to date of the tweets while we’re we’re live here even though I’m recording but that is genuinely a a wild update to me so frankly I don’t care about the oai minutes the gr di I know it’s a risk you know having another player in that’s going to eat up minutes even for whatever period of time because early development especially while the Raptors are a rebuilding team it’s so crucial you bring back Gary Trent J you find someone to take out that contract next season because frankly $10 million for Gary Tren Jor is an absolute steal so shocked to see that absolutely genuinely shocked but let’s dive in the next topic cuz we also have a crazy yonasan contract update we’re seeing how the league rules how the changing you know restrictions on hardc teams are affecting the market because we have another report that’s come out regarding yonas Valen chunis as a free agent center yonas Valen chunis has agreed to on a three-year 30 million deal with the Washington Wizards sources tell ESPN now JV you might look oh he’s washed he’s this he’s that JV averaged 13 points per game nine rebounds two assists draw 30% from behind the three-point line is only 32 years old he’s not crazy old by any means you know all of his threes are assisted but he’s not creating any of his own shots but he’s a bucket getter down there in the paint he can do his own thing he’s a starting caliber Center in the NBA and not only is he only making $10 million a season purle is making 20 yaka PE is making double of what yonas funas is making here now at this point but uh do I even have the image up here yes but yonus funis is going to the Washington Wizards where you look at him now it just shades of Martian Gortat obviously jv’s rival growing up in his early years at the Toronto Raptors the fact that he’s on a Wizards such a trash team to be on at this point he’s taking a pay cut of 10 million 10 million a year to be on a trash team like the Washington Wizards with all due respect to Washington but that is just a garbage organization with no real future here now at this point to be in that space that direction I guess they have SAR but that’s crazy to me that is crazy to me I don’t know genuinely shocking updates I I I’m surprised I’m shocked about what’s going on how these rule changes have affected the NBA here now at this point but I want to know what you guys think in the comment section down below should the
