    Full quote:

    >”This was a tough decision for Hartenstein – he loved the city, loved his teammates, loved the organization and what happened here last year. If this wasn’t a team in Oklahoma City that was ready to contend, it might have gone differently. The idea that Hartenstein can go and compete for a title in OKC factored into his decision. The Knicks certainly made it tough, according to people familiar with the matter.”

It’s a win win for him. You can’t knock his decision

  3. Semi-Aquatic

Can’t fault the guy. OKC was extremely generous with their offer. And to play on a contender? That’s a great deal for him.

  4. the fact that his last year isnt guaranteed and OKC has big contracts to fill that year probably means Hartenstein knows he signed a 2 year contract in reality.. the AAV is still huge for him

  5. jtesagain625

    Ugh. 30m Vs 18m. That’s a problem I’d love to have

  6. LegitimateMoney00

I don’t fucking blame him one bit.

Hell if Detroit offered me that contract I would have taken it. All the best to iHart in the future and I hope he never forgets about the team that took a real chance on him.

  7. Wah wah I don’t want to hear. You made your choice good for you enjoy Oklahoma

  8. I can’t blame IHart for taking an extra $11M per year, I can’t blame OKC for offering that deal because it’s a perfect one for them and puts them as probably the favorites in the West, and I can’t blame our front office because they offered the max that they could. I’m gonna blame the NBPA for agreeing to these dumb ass cap rules. Fuck you CJ McCollum and Grant Williams

  9. johnjohnjohn93

Surprised the 3rd year isn’t guaranteed but still 2/60 is so much better than 4/72 lol

  10. yrogerg123

I would give all that up for $32 million as well. Can’t blame him at all, that was a huge offer and he would be dumb not to take it.

  11. NutsyFlamingo

He had a contract to play for NY last year, and he gave his all. That was all he was obligated to us, and he lived up to his end of the bargain. Miss ya iHart, and deserve a standing applause for not wilting under the NY lights like many others.

After his first bucket vs the Knicks we root against you in respectful sporting tradition. Nothing personal ever.

  12. theamanx8

Moneys gonna go a lot further in OKC too. I’m happy for him but bummed it had to be like this

  13. Railshock

“Tough decision” while he’s laughing on the way to the bank. I’m grateful for what he did while he was with us, but glad we didn’t pay him that much.

  14. MikeMoSoup

So sad to see him go loved they way he played, lots of hart and hussle glad to see him gatting paid tho

  15. OhtaniMets99

nba is a clown show, unreal how teams arent able to match the any offer to retain their own players

  16. Not only is it a whole lot more money while still playing for a contender, but that money goes a hell of a lot further in OKC vs NYC.

  17. Pablo_Undercover

He’s being paid 12 mil extra per year to pay less state tax and to go a to a contender (basically the Knicks of the west) on a shorter contract near where his pregnant wife’s family is.

Anyone who says that in his shoes they would have stayed with the Knicks is delusional. As a Knicks fan I’m gutted, but as an I-Hart fan I’m happy for him

  18. gabrielcev1

He made the right decision for himself to take the money and secure his future for his family. Going to miss iHart.

  19. Due-Sheepherder-218

Hope his model wife likes living in OKLAHOMA 😂

  20. The_SqueakyWheel

I just hope we don’t boo him when we play him because he was a huge part of us winning

  21. GarbageRoutine9698

I love iHart and I was really hoping he would come back.

I’m going to say that winning a championship with the Knicks and the fans would mean more than doing it in OKC. Not knocking Thunder fans, but that’s CFB country. I’ve been to OKC too many times. I’ve been to a few Thunder games. Clean, nice city. It was never hard to get tickets.

I wish him the best (just not a championship since that means the Knicks arent winning it), but he’s missing out on something in NYC.

  22. MyLadySansa

I doubt the decision was all that tough for him 🙄

  23. Some numbers:

29m is 11m more than 18m, or almost 2/3 more.
That is 33m over just 3 years. 33 million!

I don’t have the per years, so assuming 29m a year evenly, and doing lazy conservative math on 5% returns a year (non-inflation adjusted), and that this is his last contract, at age 40 he would have 156m from this contract vs 59m from an 18m contract. That’s 100 million more.

Even if it’s for Detroit, I would fire all his financial advisors if he didn’t take the deal.

  24. Crackpot theory time:

Leon and Thibs put him under a suggestive trance and turned him into a sleeper agent so he’ll start to sandbag when it’s time to face us

  25. jenkins271

He’s dead to me. Congrats on the bag though

  26. MikeyLikeyPhish

It’s a no brainer for iHart and his family. I’ll miss him, but he’s not worth anywhere close to $30 million per year.
