Why Every Team Wanted THIS Undersized Guard In The Draft…Reed Sheppard!

I must say Houston Rockets fans got a one you see in a draft that really didn’t have that many safe lottery picks as far as you know top talents who you really feel like you can draft with little to no worries of them becoming an NBA bus the Rockets landed one of the few a guy that fist the subscription to the te and Reed Shepard I mean literally just five picks after Shepard we saw his former teammate Rob Dillingham who was expected to damn near go number one get traded for 2030 and 20 31 first rounders middle school kids we not even in the same decade and it’s because papovich and the Spurs they weren’t ready for what they saw as a highrisk high reward player you know they didn’t see it as safe and I don’t really agree with it because a blind man can see that ra going to be tough However the fact of the matter is amongst the many guards in this year’s NBA draft Shepard stands out for his hyper efficiency and unconventional athletic ability he just possesses the kind of game that you know fits most modern NBA systems where on one end some players they need Shooters around them to create space bro all this Kentucky guard needs is minutes and not even a lot of them but he’ll figure the rest out which is exactly why although he was not the number one pick this year trust many many NBA teams had this 6-2 guard at the top of their list and I fully believe he’ll show exactly why in this rookie season with the Houston Rockets and we going to talk about all of this today along with his fit amongst singon jayen green and the crew so yeah y’all go ahead and let me know in the comments do you believe re chood was worthy of being a top three pick if you’re a Rockets fan how do you feel about Landing Austin Reeves 2.0 and yeah bro just let me know y’all thoughts but anyway really quick before I go any further what’s up YouTube plug speaks back with another video if you’re new first of all welcome go ahead and sub also like the video if you enjoy I upload quality basketball content and we’re on the grind for 5 okay so I would most def appreciate it but yeah back to the video so yeah I truly believe Shephard was one of the best pickups in this NBA draft a lot because of his play Style and what he shown but what did he show exactly right in the 33 games he played for Kentucky he averaged just under 13 points basically five assists four rebounds and nearly three steals a game while shooting a crazy 53% from the field and 52% from three mind you this was all while attempting just eight shots a game I mean it’s crazy one of the drawbacks ESPN experts have highlighted about his game is that he’s sometimes unselfish to a fault and you know I’m sure we can all see how they would come to that analysis but it’s like okay I mean having a drawback of being an unselfish player is one of those cons that I mean it’s barely a con for real you know like going into a job interview and they ask you to name one of your weaknesses and then you just be like man I’m such a perfectionist to a fault I just love getting my work done the best that I possibly can and sometimes it’s a detriment like all right bro what do you what do you even say to that but yeah getting back to Reed Shepard I won’t spend too much more time on the numbers but really quick y’all you have got to look at this screenshot like bro was really a model of consistency it’s not often you see a 10 game stretch where a guy shoots 50% or better from the field in almost every game and I understand some of these games he ain’t getting many shots up but still stuff like him shooting 9 for 14 from the field hitting 7 threes and droing 27 points it just goes to show he’s liable to go Dummy from time to time and we cannot glance over that but anyway moving forward let’s talk about this play style you know fit with the Houston Rockets bro welcome to htown I’m not even a Rockets fan but htown it got a little ring to it I’m not going to lie sounds cool but yeah realistically right I see him getting probably 20ish minutes consistently as a part of the bench unit I mean we know we know he’s not starting over a guy like a healthy Fred Van v obviously not Jaylen green The Golden Child and then he’s under sized for any other position so yeah he’s coming off the bench to start his career and I believe this works great just looking at the Rockets bench lineup as it is right now they definitely have room for a new pickup like Reed Shepard think about a guy like am man Thompson the fourth pick just last year you know he had a pretty good rookie season showed a lot of two-way potential and continued to remind us that he’s a freak of nature physically however bro shoots 14% from three damn again it is early in his career and that will likely improve but he cannot shoot a three ball for nothing at the moment he needs a guy that can create spacing someone with the abilities of a guy like Reed Shepard who can create space for him and just offset the defense and as we’ve pointed out the majority of Shephard scoring comes from Perimeter buckets whether it be up off a pullup or a spot of three I mean he does Drive in from time to time he can get past the defense he has a 40in vertical by the way I know that sounds completely random but bro it’s true it was verified at the NBA Combine bro has a 40in vertical and that’s definitely something he puts to use he rises over the top of Defenders and he has his way so yeah overall Reed Shepard he would impr improve the second unit and just make it stronger and it doesn’t even stop there because you know Scouts call Reed sheer unselfish to a fault and to an extent it’s because he just defers to others for shots but it’s not like he’s unselfish and that he defers to others and does nothing else nah he’s an effective playmaker when surrounded with Talent at Kentucky and you know how they are with bringing in these five stars he put up nearly five assists the game and created opportunities for others so think about it he’s on that second unit funneling the offense keeping the system running and everybody cooking everybody happy and I I expect him to have that role consistently until he has that upper trajectory and becomes a starter eventually I mean think about it yes he’s under size 6’2 for a guard I know but you know you think Jaylen Brunson and you think about what he’s been able to do throughout his career come on now I see no reason why Shephard couldn’t have a similar story and coming off the bench and you know staying on that upward trajectory until he’s a solid starter and if him and Jaylen green ever do share the floor for a significant amount of time trust they will play well together being that Shephard already did well sharing the floor with kuy’s Rob Dillingham another microwave scorer type of player similar to Jaylen Green in his offensive capabilities you know just thinking about things such as the fact that Reed Shepard doesn’t really need the ball at the time he can pick and pop he can relocate for threes these are all things that Reed Shi would bring to the table and Jaylen green would be the beneficiary of this and then to make things even better bro he’s joining a young team you think about sangon Jaylen green am man Thompson Jabar Smith and it’s like yo the Rockets are on the cusp of figuring it all out similar to OKC and they’re just working towards playing competitive basketball I wouldn’t be surprised if they made the playoffs next season we saw this year bro the West is wide open the titans of the past are aging I mean Steph and gold state ain’t even make the playoffs this year now they F to lose clay We all thought the Suns had a super team with KD Bill and Booker but that super team Ain’t So ain’t so super them boys got swept and then the Clippers they can’t never seem to figure it out and now they’re going to lose Paul George so yeah I say all that to say bro the Houston Rockets are on the rise and Reed Shepard should be a big part of that but yeah I appreciate yall watching I’m not going to stret this video out y’all let me know what you think about Reed Shepard did he deserve to be a top three pick am I right in saying that damn near every team wanted him and yeah bro I appreciate yall watching man like this sub share this sub if new all of that I will see y’all in the next one more draft content on the way and I’m out
