2025 least favorable of Nuggets and Sixers (so, likely late 50s… our sweet spot!)
2031 Dallas
Not great, but it’s not like they had much of a choice. Not much leverage to be had when you have Klay walking anyways, better than nothing.
Also have the $16M TPE, hopefully they can package that with a pick or two for someone good.
[Some interesting names making less than $16M](https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/players.html). Not sure if they want to use the full thing, cause it might take them back into the luxury tax, but they can take any amount up to 15.8 or whatever Klay’s first year is gonna be. Wonder who is actually obtainable (…the Wendell Carter Jr. dream is still not officially dead).
Could go after a vet, could go after someone on a rookie scale or rookie extension (with the hope they’ll eventually pop), could hold it until the deadline or next draft (save tax and see who else becomes available), could use it now on some expiring so it’s eligible to package/trade as filler in a bigger deadline deal, could get crazy and take on bad money for a 1st or some other positive asset (don’t think they would do that). Decent amount of ways it could go, including not using it at all, or using it on someone who just ends up not working (2020/21 Oubre)

I’d rather keep Rocco.

Better than nothing.

We’re going for Lauri. Those are replacements to our firsts. Maybe, fuck if I know.

this has been a horrible day lol

Have to see what trade comes next before we judge. These picks will be flipped 100%.
NBA gms don’t respect MDJ dude couldn’t trade in a car
SCalifornia831
People need to understand how S&Ts work
Dallas calls up the Warriors and says “Hey, Klay is signing with us but we want to pay him more money. Sorry for the inconvenience but if you do some paperwork we’ll give you a couple of second round picks for your time.”
AdComprehensive7879
i dont get how trade exception work? can someone give me an ELI5 on it? also, why is it only 16mil not the full Klay’s contract amount
dating_derp
We gotta get a 2nd scoring option with the 16 mil trade exception.
Did we spend the MLE on Melton?
And when are we trading Wiggs’ lethargic ass?
Peety_Paw
What are the odds we just keep the picks
KageTrigger
I wonder who we can get with that $16 Mil exception?
arsene_0
Hopefully we use those 2nd round picks for a trade or something becuase they not doing anything for me rn
D3struct_oh
Warriors fans hoping “two second round picks” is actually the name of a 7ft sniper from Eastern Europe.
Dependent_Patient938
They lost Poole chris Paul and klay for two second picks wow
Teams better watch out in 2031 with the 2nd round pick the Warriors will be scary
mandoman10
Klay was worth two second rounders and basically the mid level. Anyone who watched him with a clear eye this year could predict that.
More_Awareness_6969
The Warriors should try and get Steven Adams with the TPE
Living_Cell2958
Am I delusional? Did we actually just get 2 picks for Klay. What is happening
T-T-N
Rejecting 48/2 only to accept 50/3 just doesn’t sit right.
StatusDimension8
Can we get demar for 16m lol

Ohh maah gaawdd!!! What we would’ve done w/o these SRPs. Thanks Mavs. Nico Harrison, keep robbing these fools

Oh sick we traded for a freshman in high school 💀💀💀
BobLoblaw_BirdLaw
Serious question. Why do we care right now. Even with Paul George. Look how stacked some other teams are. It’s not like we have 1-2 teams that are going to cause us problems. There’s like 15 amazingly good teams that match better than us, even if we had PG. we aren’t a simple 1 player away from being in the race.
Only reason is because Steph deserves a better last couple years. But this year it’s impossible. maybe we let him rest this year for one final year in 2026 where we sell the house for.
we_hella_believe
I think the Warriors are in a good place. Getting a couple of 2nd round picks isn’t great but it’s better than nothing. Being free of the salary cap/2nd apron is nice, gives us more flexibility. It Kuminga makes the jump and TJD progresses, we will be a much better team than last season.
Shabopalaboopy
Loved klay and what he did for the dubs but Lauri over klay at this point in time. Huge improvement if they can land him. Klay was a baby the last couple years after his injuries and play went downhill, inconsistent. all he was able to do was flash the four fingers the last couple seasons.
warriors2021
Almost the exact same amount as the Iggy TPE that got us Oubre.
Biggest13
Isn’t the bigger aspect of this trade is the 16 million TPE. Maybe MDJ is still cooking
sugarwax1
Woopty doo. Pretty much nothing but hey, it is better than the TPE. Would have been nice if they gave us at least a 1st or a human.

2031 lmao

2nd round? 🤔

Lucky Warriors helped them. Mavs FO didn’t help with the Brunson signing

Must’ve fought really hard for that second 2nd round pick
Wait at least one of them is a 2031 2nd rounder per Woj. 💀
Edit: just saw a tweet that said the Mavs added Klay, Naji Marshall, and Quentin Grimes this off season without giving up a 1st round pick.
We apparently now live in a timeline where Nico Harrison is a shrewd as hell GM, while the Warriors FO looks like it’s being run by interns.

Yikes. *Dunleavy headkick*
Does this free up some cap space for us?
Ig we’re using this to somehow get Lauri?
MDJ masterclass
Makes sense, better than solely the TPE I guess
A trade is definitely on the way for us
