NBA Free Agency Winners & Losers From Day 1 Ft. Philadelphia 76ers, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

NBA Free Agency Winners & Losers From Day 1 Ft. Philadelphia 76ers, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

[Music] day one of fre andc winners and losers Nick Rolf and Patrick seatman here of chat sports not a lot of moves but we do have some winners and losers grades to hand out and we’ll start with our first winner which is the Philadelphia 76ers because at this point in time all signs point towards Paul George joining the squad in the next 12 to 24 hours things can change but even outside of the Paul George situation seeps they still are getting Andre Drummond on a cheap deal to back up jool embid and they’re also adding Eric Gordon to help bring some points scoring Off the Bench and alongside Jared McCain so even if you take away Paul George they’ve made two good signings today yeah no I I have absolutely love what Philadelphia has done obviously with Joan be’s injury history you want to have a solid backup center and there may be none better than Andre Drummond then also Eric Gordon reuniting with Daryl Mory you know maybe he could know tap into the youth there but you know I think there’s a both great options and again it is more likely than not that Paul George will be signing with the Philadelphia 76ers tonight it’s coming in from law Murray saying per Source there’s a real chance that Paul George will make his final decision tonight the expectation at some point is that he will choose the Philadelphia 76ers there are no other teams in the running at the momentum now Roy let me ask you this where would you rank the 76ers if they do get this Paul George move where do they rank in the Eastern c yeah I’m going to have him too I’ll have him right behind the Boston Celtics I’ll have him slightly above the New York Knicks I just think you get a perfect fit next to Tyrese Maxi in that back court Paul George you can play the two he could play the three when Maxi heads to the bench he could be your primary ball handler as well letting McCain and Eric Gordon play off Ball scoring shooting role that they do so well um and embiid it’s really just all dependent on his health but assuming he’s healthy and this squad is ready to go I think they have what it takes to really compete in the East and I really like Nick nurse as a head coach I would probably put him as the third fourth best coach in the East like you can have a debate Eric spuler was number one in Miami but two through four isula nurse Tibido those are your top guys I think Philly is primed to have a rebound season and we don’t want to get your hopes up Sixers fans but finally maybe pushing through that step and getting to the Conference Finals we’ll see but another winner uh for us here at chat sports is kcp as he got the bag from the Orlando Magic and I did not have the magic on my you know kcp destinations but I think this was a great move for Orlando a guy that’s going to get it done on both sides of the floor he’s a winner you know obviously you know dating back to him winning a title with the Lakers and obviously recently with the Nuggets but I love this move for Orlando yeah 22 mil per on a two plus one makes a lot of sense listen there’s some Buzz that they could offer 25 if that happened I would have been a little aggressive but on a pure contavious Codwell Pope standpoint getting paid that much money over that many years is pretty solid like I I wouldn’t have expected that if you told me two seasons ago that kcp was get a three for 66 deal I probably wouldn’t have believed you but he’s just been a winner man two-time champion in the last four years in that bubble season with the Lakers and then last year with the Nuggets um we’ll probably talk about Denver here in just a second as a loser potentially but Codwell Pope forming a really good defensive back court in Orlando and if I’m the magic I’m trying to get a deal done with Paul George if possible because that would create a really good backt yeah and plus they’re going to have one of the best defensive backcourts in the league now with Jaylen Suggs and kcp and plus I’ll make this note if you’re a role player go play with joic because you will go get paid I mean we saw it Bruce Brown he went and got the bag from Indiana now we’re seeing kcp get the bag from the magic but hey you guys let us know who is the biggest free agency winner from day one let me know your thoughts down in the comments M section as we are getting news as this is breaking right now Naji Marshall just went to the Dallas Mavericks big pick up for them yeah I’m not going to say they’re the winner but that is a big time move for them getting some Wing or defense and that is a good move to help sh up Luca donic and the crew all right moving up here Chris Paul is a day one winner he got waved so I guess not great in that department because his contract is no longer guaranteed but getting to join San Antonio at $1 million to Mentor MB get to play Under coach po papovich excuse me I think it’s a great fit for Paul and San Antonio and I am very excited to see how he can work alongside Victor wanyama in the pick and roll yeah and he’s going to be a good Mentor for Stan castle and you know I like this move for both sides I think it’s a kind of cool way to end your career if you’re Chris Paul like if you think wemi has like top 10 all time potential like you could be like hey I was the point guard that was his mentor for his early uh days in San Antonio and listen I understand not the same player he once was but he was still effective for the Warriors coming off the bench this past season I mean still averaging seven assists per game he can generate open looks for just about anybody in the league so love the fit of Chris Paul heading to San Antonio I think it was a great move you know for both sides another winner here the Washington Wizards and we talked about it in our cut of our free agency tracker of Jonas Val junis going to Washington and we didn’t really understand it from V tunes’ perspective but from Washington’s side it is a good move you’re able to get him to be your starting center to help pair up with Alex SAR who I guess they had this in mind quite a bit because Alex SAR didn’t want to play center and that was the reason why he was trying to steer away from Atlanta with the first overall selection and I was like well it seems like he’s going to play center in Washington anyway but I guess they had the idea of adding valun the entire time so you got your front Court there and you get to add some protection and rebounding to let SAR do his thing defensively and develop as well as offensive so I get it from the Wizard’s perspective don’t understand it from B chunis but Washington is a winner in this deal and I think it speaks to day one of NBA free agency that we have the Washington Wizards as a winner for signing yonas Val chunis and I think it’s a perfect segue to get us to our Losers of day one of NBA free agency us everybody in the studio here at chat sports we got Bamboozled I’ll say that bring back tampering yeah I also say this Adam Silver stinks and it’s really his fault for making this a Sunday 600 pm. eastern time anyway but if we look deeper at the CBA fcj McCullum that freaking loser wanted to make small Market teams have a better chance no let’s just have what we have we don’t rock the boat famous saying shouldn’t have rocked the boat yep make sure you are subscribed because we’re going to tell it how it is we have the latest news the latest rumors around free agency trade rumors hell we had the NBA draft we were live for both of those days as well make sure you are subscribed to the channel because we’re going to break down everything that you need around the NBA and we’ve had the Los Angeles Clippers covered all day long and they are a day one loser even though I like the signing of James Harden and keeping him here for the next two years you’re losing Paul George that’s an automatic loser and then you also have PJ Tucker and Russell Westbrook opting in which means you now have to trade them and it is rumored that they are looking forward trade Russ has been linked to the Denver Nuggets Tucker who the hell knows but either way you make one good move in Harden two tough moves and having those two guys opt in and then Paul George leaving you that’s going to make you a loser I mean I like the move of Harden but you’re losing Paul George you’re banking on Kawai being healthy now for all 82 games in an entire postseason run Clippers I can almost guarantee they will make the playoffs in the Western Conference as a seventh or a seed and they will lose in round one that’s just where I think it stands right now with them yeah and then you obviously got this not as we mentioned Paul George leaving if you don’t believe us believe Adrien rinowski who said more than just unlikely Clippers and Paul George are moving on from each other sources tell ESPN not going to try to harp on this for too much longer but it is pretty clear that that marriage is over Biggest freeny Loser from day one there’s always someone The Biggest Loser might be us you can say me in the comment section if you want you can also type the Denver Nuggets who lost cavius Codwell Pope he was a winner personally but we want to look at this from more of a macro perspective SS because over the past two years they lost Bruce Brown after winning the championship and then lose kcp now that’s backto back years of losing good highlevel role players and they don’t really have a plan to replace them other than pton Watson and Christian Brown in house and those two have just not been able to meet expectations to this point and you’re just banking on those guys taking a huge step up and you know they did bring back DeAndre Jordan I don’t know why I think this is to help improve jokic’s onoff splits if I’m being honest like you bring back a guy like DeAndre Jordan you know for that reason but I’ll tell you what the nuggets are in a tough spot right now man um obviously you won that title now two years ago but I just I just can’t see a move that’s going to get them back to the you know favorite in the Western Conference yeah I don’t see it either in their team needs they’re going to need to replace someone on that perimeter in terms of defense and three-point shooting they found their backup center when they took Don Holmes but the nuggets are going to need to find a backup ball handler after Reggie Jackson is no longer with the squad rumored to be the Russell Westbrook team I don’t think that’s that good of a replacement and they’re going to need some three-point shooting um you obviously hope Michael Porter Jr can have a better playoff run because he kind of struggled down the stretch but they’re going to miss kcp in that back court defensively as well as hitting his three-point shots working so well off of nicolea yic and Jamal Murray so they’re going to be in a tough spot they definitely have not improved since their last season all that’s going to do it for Day One winners and losers make sure you are subscribed to the channel because we will be back tomorrow live for day two of NBA for agency so hit that sub button and join us we’ll see you then [Music]

  1. Sad to say the Warriors are going to accomplish absolutely nothing in free agency and will waste another prime year of Steph Curry😢😢

  2. The sixers are stupid. They should have made a huge push fir Brandon Ingram. He fits that team si much better than George.

  3. I agree Ingram is more athletic prolific and nimble type of player sixers must acquire..rather than George just waiting on the wings to take an open shot..
