Detroit Pistons Sign Tobias Harris On Two-Year $52 Million Dollar Deal

Detroit Pistons Sign Tobias Harris On Two-Year $52 Million Dollar Deal

good morning you guys what is going on Anthony here with pistons talk up you guys are having a great day so far we do have some breaking news some Detroit Pistons news free agency news if you will it says from AJ morowski free agent Tobias Harris lands with the Detroit Pistons on a 2-year $52 million deal sour ESPN an ideal fit on the floor and in locker room for a young developing roster now I think this is a good move for the Detroit Pistons and the reason why I feel like this is a good move for the Pistons is it’s a short-term deal it’s a 2-year deal 52 million so around 2627 million over the next two years for to buy his hais and I think it’s a contract if hey if it doesn’t work out it’s in a short-term deal maybe you could flip to buys for possible assets for teams that are looking for a guy that can space the floor and is a veteran and locker room leader now for the Piston standpoint I like it you’re getting a guy that can space the floor for Kate Cunningham you’re getting a guy that has been here before he was here in his 20s and he was here for a couple of years before he was traded for Blake Griffin and you’re getting a guy that is familiar with the organization I like it now I I think the biggest thing with Tobias Harris that I think is valuable is it’s not something that shows up in a box score now I’ll I’ll show you guys what I’m talking about the the biggest thing with toac Harris and we’re over on basketball reference uh right now so if you look since 2019 games played 72 62 73 74 70 now you’re probably thinking okay why does games played matter well when you made free agent signings last year in Joe Harris who was coming off a serious calf injury and didn’t play that much eventually did get wav by the team that was a bad signing you signed Monte Morris who we thought was healthy but but he play like maybe three four games before he got moved to Minnesota I think with Tobias haris what you’re getting is you’re getting a guy that’s only 31 years old is still durable shoots 48 from the field 35 from three almost 88% from the free throw line and put up 17 points a game and grab six rebounds for the Philadelphia 76ers now you know there’s going to be people out there that are going to bring up the playoffs are going to bring up the donuts that he laid in the playoffs the Pistons are going to compete for the Playoffs next year I think the goal for this organization should be the NBA playing tournament but people that mention the playoffs of Tobias Harris underperforming I think that’s just kind of them being frustrated with the the whole signing in the situation this is still a very good NBA player this is a guy that can get you 17 and six shoot good volume and be available but I think you’re again you’re getting a guy that has been here before he’s a good locker room veteran leader he’s definitely going to be teaching assar Thompson Ron Holland Kate Cunningham all these young guys that are on the team jayen Duran Marcus sass um Bobby Kitman like this is such a good culture signing for the Detroit Pistons because you’re trying to get back to winning more than 20 games in a season with Tim Hardway Jr and Tobias Harris you’re getting guys that are good locker room leaders you’re getting veterans that can help this team get back on track and also both of these guys are floor spacers both of these guys can help contribute in get the Pistons back to winning I I like the signing and maybe it’s an unpopular opinion maybe you know you guys are probably going to clown me for that take but hey that’s why you know I value you guys your opinions everyone’s opinion is welcome on this YouTube channel it really is but I like the signing with Tobias I don’t think it was an overpay I don’t think it was a bad deal I know some people uh think this is just a terrible deal they they think that you know it’s just like Pistons being Pistons bringing back guys that have already been here before but let me know Down Below in the comment section what you think of the Detroit Pistons going after Tobias haris on a 2-year $52 million deal I will talk to you guys down below in the comment section like always I hope you guys are staying safe take care and I’ll catch you guys in the next video peace [Music] oh [Music]

  1. Not gonna act like he makes the Pistons a playoff team. But a solid veteran (very cliche) who can provide some much needed scoring and spacing

  2. I personally like the signing because you gave Cade the bag now it’s incumbent upon you to put competent players around him so he can maximize his greatness he’s had below average talent since getting drafted to Detroit

  3. Good signing by Trajan. 2yr deal is great, money is a tick higher than what I wanted to see but he did have other suitors. If he plays well enough he might be an attractive asset to a contending team next offseason.

  4. I like the Tobias signing. I think the money and years are right. But I feel like the moves that have been made so far are exactly what Troy would've done this off season.

  5. Saw that Gary Trent jr stock is falling and teams might not even offer 12.5 million one year contract. I think if pistons could swoop in and give say 2 years and 15 mil or less per year that’s a good signing.

  6. Tobias isn't a bad deal since its only two seasons.

But we didn't go after long term players like Naji Marshall or Jalen Smith.

Yhis is shaping up to be a very disappointing summer.

  7. What I love to see Trajan so far with his draft, hires, trades and signing is he’s just going out and getting the best things he can get. He’s not like Troy weaver and being too aggressive on a bunch of randos: he’s steadily building a stronger team and culture. Great signing!

  8. To keep it simple. They brought in about 30-40 guaranteed points with Tobi and THJ. They still a couple moves away for me to be completely satisfied. They're doing what I thought as of now.

  9. It's a ok deal but I rather gave that deal to Miles Bridges he should be around that type of deal it maybe less for him to

  10. Glad it's not 3-4 years. We need to use the cap money. Nobody's else coming. Can be good trade piece next year. Just stay in the lottery top five one more year.

  11. If bad thing on this deal is his playoff performance then for Detroit this is good deal, we may back into playoffs next year, this s probably stretch goal, if we do with Tobias then this signing is a win. I like having Tobias, THJ and if we sign FONTECCHIO we then have 3 shooters to go with our core. Honestly would like one more shooter, good offseason so far.

  12. I like what Trajan has done so far. I hope he can absorb another "sin" contract for additional assets and hopefully address a backup PG (Tyus Jones) and a Rim Protecting Big (Goga Bitadze). Sign another shooter with the Mid Level, and let the young guys grow within a rotation, not throwing them in the deep end of the pool to sink or swim.

  13. He's serviceable, and better than the Hardaway Jr pickup. But hes definitely ot a game changer. Not sure we'd have won more games with Hardaway Jr last year, but we're probably good for 7-10 more wins with Harris.

  14. It's a ok signing because overall no one wants to come here as a FA so this thinking that we could do so much better is unrealistic the way this roster is constructed.

  15. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Beggars cannot be choosers. Many of the players the Pistons were rumored to be targeting already signed with other teams. Tobias may not have been the best option at his position, but was someone willing to come to Detroit despite our record and infamy throughout the league.
