@San Antonio Spurs

Last season, the Spurs were 7th in the NBA in number of clutch games. We lost almost 70% of them. 3rd worst ratio in the league (better than the Pistons & Wizards, who didn’t have as many close games).

A clutch game is when the two teams are 5 points or less appart, in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter or in Overtime.

We had A LOT of games like that. 50% of our season, actually.

And because of our lack of experience, and our turnovers, we were one of the worst in the league at turning these close games into wins.

The gain in experience with a year under the belt, with the addition of a veteran like Chris Paul, who's also a brilliant PG who understands how to control the pace of a game, as well as a very good perimeter defender in Castle, might turn quite a few of these games into wins next season.

Whether it's a good thing for our draft odds or the long term quality of our roster is another story, but at least we'll gain experience in such scenarios.

Which will probably be very valuable long-term.

    A lot of these 4th quarters Wemby didn’t even get to touch the ball for minutes at a time at the very end, totally frozen out of the offense while dudes that shouldn’t have been chucking were. That needs to change this year.

    That’s a lot higher than I would have guessed. The best stat last year was Vassell Wembanyama and Tre Jones line up being +6 positive in significant minutes. Bodes well for the future. And makes the Zach Collins extension ever so more perplexing

  3. Nobody has more experience losing clutch games than CP3 that’s for sure
