Why do people keep saying Dyson Daniels can’t shoot?
His role was strictly for defense! Transition and open 3 pointers were his only opportunities to score the ball . On top of that , he barley got double digit shot attempts . I think we might have a future All-Star on our team
If he can’t shoot it turns into 4 v 5 basketball. His career percentages are underwhelming.

I’m tired of people calling into 929 the game and saying we are the losers in this trade when nance and Daniels were key reasons the pelicans made the playoffs !

I think it’s more of being able to create off the dribble.

definitely a situation where stats don’t tell the story. Pels fans said he would often pass up attempts due to a lack of confidence which is probably due to him maybe not having the most solid mechanics. obviously we’d want him to let it fly a lot more here but we should temper our expectations for now. hopefully an offseason with KK will get him right but for right now he is insane D & some 3 which is already very useful.

Yea I agree but that pelicans were just too crowded on offense if that makes sense with way more vets, everybody on our team is around his age which should help

He’s solid from the corners, but abysmal from behind the rest of the 3 point line
Big thing from reading/watching seems to be confidence more than mechanics. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he could get to being a solid open 3 point shooter from across the entire arc, but I’ve seen a ton of guys just not be able to make it click for whatever reason
Put him in the lab with Korver and hope for the best

I’m very high on Daniel’s but I think if he could shoot then we would’ve seen shooting from him. The fact that he hasn’t shot a lot leans more to the argument that he can’t do it or isn’t comfortable doing it than he just wasn’t allowed to do it. It’s more likely that his profile coming into the league and his usage in the NBA so far are accurate representations of his limitations

He’s a very good defender and seems to have a good grasp of the game
I doubt he’ll ever be an all star but I like him

We got him for his defense which is clearly in the top 5 of all NBA guards. He does have a very good floater from inside the lane. He is not going to asked to shoot too many 3’s – see Bogi, Trae, Garry, JJ, RZ, for that.

I worry about the offense, but I’m also not stressing that much. From my understanding they had Daniels run point a decent amount (didn’t watch enough pels ball). But with Trae initiating, drawing D, and kicking out for open shots, that does put me somewhat at ease

I really like the trade, but Daniels’s shooting is indeed a major weakness. If he could shoot, he’d’ve been more valuable than Murray on his own.

He is still young enough to expect some improvement, he doesn’t take them at a high rate which is an issue.
I think by the end of next season he could develop into a 8 or 9 PPG guy with 34% shooting.
He is like a delon wright with some real upside

Clearly it’s not that he can’t shoot, he just “doesn’t” shoot
