Spurs Sign Chris Paul! Victor Wembanyama Going To Thrive!

what’s going on everyone so Chris Paul earlier today was waved by the Golden State Warriors uh the warriors were looking to try to make some type of moves and trade him uh instead of just kind of like letting him go for nothing talks about uh Paul George they were very active and trying to acquire Paul George once Paul George ended up opting out it was kind of like okay well there goes that and so they decided to hey let’s just clear Chris Paul off of our books and kind of try to hit the reset button and regroup so Chris Paul became free agent and the question was where would he go who would he sign with right immediately people the consensus was like the Spurs or the Lakers right CU his relationship with LeBron James him and LeBron have wanted to play for years the Lakers may end up being in the department for a point guard if they trade like d’angel Russell and Gabe vinon and stuff so it was kind of like ah but he would have been so great alongside vikor whama like that’s the exact point guard that they need at least momentarily until they can find kind of the younger route or you know make a trade for Darius Garland or whatever well guess what Chris Paul has officially signed with the San Antonio Spurs on a one-year $1 million deal so he went for the bag right he wanted to go get the money which was a concern right because it’s like okay San Antonio they’re not going to be contending for an NBA championship this year most likely unless the Spurs just start pulling off a bunch of like crazy trades more likely you know they’re they’re a team that’s maybe they can make the play playing get the right pieces uh but Chris Paul if you could get him made all the sense in the world well you kind you obviously had to overpay for him but he’s still valued at like 11 million even with his age and stuff he’s still a very good player he’s still excellent and really will fit this team in many ways obviously there is the hey the Spurs desperately need a point guard there is also the you know Victor whama will finally be able to have the game come easier to him and get somebody that is going to actively be trying to get him the basketball on a regular basis which will’ll dive into more here in a moment but also what Chris Paul brings and just being able to help the young guys and Player Development and stuff this is also why I I almost feel like the Spurs now should go try to figure out some type of buyou for uh Juan nun Nunes right the the second draft pick that they got the point guard the Spanish point guard like going Nunes basically is under contract technically between Real Madrid and Barcelona but Real Madrid is not supposed to resign him they’re supposed to let him go play for Barcelona I think Chris Paul would do wonders for him because he is looked at as like this Prodigy point guard and so if he really is I mean Chris Paul I mean look at like Dennis shudder and sgaa sgaa in particular you know SGA is arguably a top five guy now he praises to this day Chris Paul and what Chris Paul did in helping him in his game right Chris Paul as just a mentor for this young Spurs team I think is tremendous a lot of Spurs fans I see throwing out that they really want um you know Stefan Castle to be a point guard and you know he played point guard he could be the point guard and all that stuff right well if you are going to mold him into a point guard an NBA level point guard because there a big difference between high school and you know playing for you know H uh college and all this other stuff and then the actual NBA at the point guard level right so to me Chris Paul I think him mentoring castle and being able to show him and break things down and I just think it’s invaluable right Chris Paul is going to bring more a lot more than that $1 million contract and if you’re the Spurs it’s a placeholder for you it’s perfect right like this is a win-win across the board for the Spurs because they get a veteran guy that come in they get a guy that’s going to make things easier for Victor wanyama they’re going to get a mentor they’re going to get an adult in the room they’re going to get a competitor they it just this you couldn’t ask for a better option for a young Spurs team a guy that gets to come in and be the adult and and help these young guys grow and develop this is going to be huge for Jones this is going to be huge for VAs this is going to be huge for Castle is could to be huge for Victor right like across the board but this is also why I I I almost feel like if you’re the spur cuz Chris Paul right you do have him for the year who’s to say he signs again next year right and then now you’re bringing in one and it’s like okay well he Chris Paul would have been so valuable for him so if you’re the Spurs I just think now if you didn’t get Chris Paul I would say no right like just leave him you know ride out the year and you and then bring him in after but now that you know Chris Paul’s coming Chris Paul could do wonders for that kid who is already looked at as you know a true point guard and playmaker there are very few true true point guards in the history of the league as good as uh Chris Paul I mean you can make an argument he’s the best like true traditional point guard uh him and you know guys like Isaiah Thomas and stuff you know Magic was 69 he was he was you know the playmaker point guard greatest point guard ever but talking about like in the sense of like small package traditional point guard right like Chris Paul is up there and so I just think that these young guards and point cards that the Spurs have could just learn so incredibly much from Chris Paul and I just think you you should take as much advantage of this as you can cuz what if next season Chris Paul goes all right I got another year or two in me let me go try to get the rain right right now he might be looking at it I’m not going to get more than 11 million anywhere else it’s vet minimum or 11 million let me go get this last little last little payday from the Spurs then you know next year I’ll go and and go get the uh go try to get the ring right like so to me it’s take advantage now while you can’t but last little points of note is the Victor whama side of things right one of the big frustrations last year Watching The Spurs was how many times Victor wiama would have established position I mean there were times where he’d be wide open I mean literally wide open no one around and it was like he wasn’t even on the court he would just get completely phased out at times and he’s by far your best player the guy was absolutely special you can’t miss him the guy’s 11et tall like how do you not get your guy the ball you’re not going to have that problem with Chris Paul you’re going to have a guy in Chris Paul that is going to do everything in his power to make Victor win miyama the best version of himself as possible Victor is never going to have it easier right Chris Paul just making sure he gets the ball in his spots in his favorite positions right Victor when he establishes position and works hard to get that mismatch or get that Advantage isn’t it’s not going to go to waste Chris Paul’s going to recognize that immediately and be able to get him the basketball I mean the the free buckets that Victor’s going to get just because you know Chris Paul’s going to draw attention and be able to you know lob it up to him or or just kick it as he’s cutting the pick and roll actions with him and Victor miyama the pick and pop actions right I mean the the possibilities are endless for what Chris Paul and Victor wiama can provide for this team this is just this is huge huge in my opinion for the San Antonio Spurs and I just I think that they San Antonio Spurs made the best move that you they probably could have made outside of you know if they can go trade for a Darius Garland or something which they still can right like if they wanted to and Darius garland does become available because Donovan Mitchell does sign an extension they can still go trade for Garland and again look at what Chris Paul did for SGA SGA to this talks about it right so if he could do that for SGA what can he do for Darius Garland I’m not even saying that he can turn Darius Garland in SJ but like Darius Garland was an Allstar level point guard right people forget how good Darius Garland was before Donovan Mitchell came and kind of threw a wrench and everything right so to have Chris Paul bringing him in I just think it’s just what there’s not very many moves that they could make right now that would be better than that because of the impact across the board for Victor for your young guys for that locker room um and just helping with development this was huge you know and Chris Paul he gets he gets a little little payday um for for doing the services I think that this is just a win-win all all along but anyway as always this is a discussion pass a question on you let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments below what do you think how do you feel what are your thoughts do you think like yes this is huge uh this is massive the Spurs really got themselves an excellent you know veteran point guard that’s going to be able to come and kind of change the tides for the Spurs a little bit here and help them grow and develop do you think no stay away uh they should have you know went somebody else they you know should go get Garland they should just stick with Castle have it feel whatever your thoughts are love to hear it so let me know down in the comments below that being said if you haven’t liked this video hit that like button helps me a lot enjoy these types of videos and I truly appreciate it not subcribe Channel hit that subscribe The San Antonio Spurs just signed chris paul to a 1 year 11 million deal. This is massive for Victor Wembanyama and now has a real pg.

  1. He's basically a point guard coach for the team. Show all the young guards how to run the office with Wemby. This is perfect, especially for 1 year.

  2. a LOT of respect to cp3 for doing this, he could easily have signed to any contender pretty much for 11 million. He’s done this for the culture and future of basketball! Giving back like a true og, respect cp

  3. On 1 year/11 million contract, I don't see a "lasting effect" his presence will have. Either we trade him to a contender by the deadline or leaves/retires after the season. I would've loved a 2-3 year deal…but we'll see

  4. I think they’ll obviously be better than last season and having CP3 as a mentor for the rookies to improve there game and js be a better player will do wonders, for castle if he can be any where as a sliver of SGA then it’ll be worth it

  5. MY HOMIE CP3 IS GONNA BE ON 1 YEAR CONTRACTS ON EVERY TEAM UNTIL HE WINS 1 CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY 🏆 RESPECTFULLY 🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯😭

  6. Some fans were ready to give up 4-5 1st rds including ours and ATL 2025 picks for Trey Young and BDub grabs Chris Paul for 11 mill😂 FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT!!🎉

  7. I don’t think Juan Nunez needs that mentorship the way that Stephon does. Juan already has the PG skills, he just needs to learn to shoot and play defense, so I don’t think CP3 has as much to offer to Núñez as he does Castle.

  8. Will help our young team learn alot. Especially how to get the ball to Wemby. You can always trade him at the trade deadline to a contender.

  9. Spurs will sign Klay Thompson on a one year deal and actually contend in 2025. This will end the rumors of Spurs going for Young, Garland, or other $$$ PGs

  10. Now yall understand why we traded Dillingham. They weren't gonna pay a second round draft pick 1st round money. And we have an extra cap space 😊

  11. The ultimate sentiment i have about this is, im annoyed the spurs are willing to waste another season. Not even try to show improvement like push for a real impactful star to try and make the play in then add more pieces. Taking the shell of chris paul at 39, after his worst season yet, and filled with injuries, for a one year stint doesnt seem very prudent. Stunt the growth of the players that need playing time? When the spurs should put all resources towards a true pg1(i know youre all hyped for garland, personally i dont see him any more than a B+ player at best, still would be 3rd or 2nd best tho on this spurs team)

Why does everyone think chris paul is this loving mentor whos coming to develop young players?
And what if paul is not all that interested in that, and the $11 mil for 1 year was the best offer a foolish team was willing to make?

  12. 11M for CP3 is a bargain. 30M was outrageous , now you can enjoy a Hof as a fantastic mentor.
Love it for Nunez as well , I like this kid being in the team at some point

  13. CP3 11M / 1Y is not an overpay at all . CP3 is still very valuable on both side of the court, and even more as a mentor.
Zach Collins is paid more every year… that's a clear overpay!

  14. Trey Jones is wondering what else can go wrong! First they try Sochan in his spot now they draft Castle to take his starting role. Then they draft Dillingham and his bench role is gone. They trade Dilly away and he breathes a sigh of relief until we draft another young guard. Now we pick up CP3 in free agency lol

  15. Chris Paul is a methodical guy. A meticulous blueprint oriented guy. I bet he is planning to coach after this. Perhaps be Pop's assistant coach for the next 5 years. His methodical style helped SGA to be a methodical and patient player. Hopefully, Stephon Castle can benefit from his mentorship.
