TOP Isaiah Hartenstein Replacements Ft. Wendell Carter & Walker Kessler | NY Knicks Rumors

Knicks Now by chat sports I am your host Marshall green and on today’s show we break down some tiers of Isaiah hartenstein Replacements as we know the New York Knicks can only use that taxpayer mid-level exception of $5.2 million to go out there and sign a free agent and there’s just not that many players left as free agent centers are flying off the board so we’ll talk free agents and we will also talk some trade targets tier one Replacements though most of these players are going to be trade targets because there’s no tier one centers out there in free agency we’ve already seen most of those players come off the board let’s focus though first on an internal option and that is Mitchell Robinson and yesterday Twitter went crazy with one of my tweets saying pretty much I don’t trust Mitchell Robinson to be the center I said I would package Mitchell Robinson and dece McBride some people did not like that look if Robinson is healthy if you can guarantee me that Robinson is going to play 65 games this year and he’s going to be available for the playoffs I would sign up for it but when you see how many games he’s played in the last four seasons how does it not bring you concern only one time in the last four years has he played more than 59 games in his season it seems like he’s always hurt it seems like he always misses a month of the season I absolutely worry about the durability of Mitchell Robinson I think he’s a skilled player a talented player what he does he does better than a lot of other people one of the best Rim protectors in this league the top offensive rebounding Center but with hartenstein out the New York Knicks are going to have to change up their offensive approach so often we saw hardenstein be a playmaking hub for the New York Knicks featuring him at the top of the key being that guy that’s finding those back door Cutters to people like Dante dienzo and Josh hard and OG and and Obi and to be quite Frank with you they’re going to have to change their approach of how they go about being an efficient offense things change with M bridges in the fold but you don’t have a center that can move the ball and create quality looks for others Robinson is what he is a defensive-minded rebounding Center Center who is extremely limited on offense and could the addition of bridges alongside Brunson and Randle and Devan chenzo and Hart and so on and so forth be enough to make up for that and mask it a little bit I think it can but if you’re going to beat the Boston Celtics you need five people on the floor that can defend on the perimeter the Boston Celtics made Derrik Lively unplayable in the in the NBA Finals the Boston Celtics made Daniel Gafford unplayable in the finals I’m just not so sure I love the idea of Mitchell Robinson chasing around Boston Celtics three-point Shooters if healthy I’ll take my chance with him but look if healthy you never want to say that when you’re talking about a player you look at some free agent centers that are still available and there’s not a lot left James wisman gone who was cheap Mo bomba gone gone goab bat gone so there is not that many great players left Mo vogner’s available bball Paul Paul Reed available Dario sarich Xavier Tilman Thomas Bryant Daniel ty not that many players are available in free agency so maybe Leon Rose will look to the tradem market and let’s talk about those players now Wendell Carter I would say the very ver big for the Orlando Magic is a player I am extremely interested in he’s not Isaiah hardenstein but man he gives you a player and he gives you a skill set that you just don’t have at the center spot right now not someone that is extremely durable but he hasn’t played less than 54 games in a season in the last four years he’s also someone that has improved on his outside shot over the last four years attempting almost three threes a night and that this year lot knocked it down at 37% last year 35% and what I love to see is the growth from 29 to 32 to 35 to 37 he can knock down that pick and pop three from the top of the key and to be quite honest with you windowell Carter is my top trade Target for the New York Knicks if you compare Carter next to Randall with OG Bridges and Brunson and still have Dante Devon chenzo and Josh hark coming off the bench you’re going to be in a good spot could the Orlando Magic look to trade him I think it is a possibility they brought back Goa but on a not cheap deal there’s been Rumors in the past they could look to move Carter so I’m going to keep my ear to that one and hope that maybe something could come that way Walker Kessler is another player to keep your eyes on we talked about him yesterday on the show and um yeah reports are coming out right now for Michael Scot that the Knicks have also made inquiries on the trade market showing interest in Jazz Center Walker Kessler along with Hornet Center Nick Richards as previously reported everyone said Marshall if you’re going to say trade Mitchell Robinson who should it be for we talked about a package of Robinson induce for Walker Kessler and Colin ston and you know what sounds like the Knicks are also thinking about trading for Walker Kessler and for good reason he’s still extremely young and he’s one of the best shop blockers in the NBA in his rookie year he averaged 2.3 blocks per game his sophomore campaign he averaged 2.4 blocks per game I think it’s really interesting that the Knicks are now showing interest in trading for Walker Kesler and you know what the only way you’re going to be able to get it done is if you give up dece MC prde they both are on relatively cheap contracts you got to almost match the money perfectly and then maybe you make this trade and then you try to go find a point guard somewhere else or you sign Kyle Lowry I’ll tell you what I think the Nick should do coming up in a second but would you make this trade would you trade Duce McBride for Walker Kessler type A for accept type D for decline I want to hear from all the real ones in the comment section another player that could be on the trade block is Brook Lopez of the Milwaukee Bucks there was reports that Doc Rivers wanted to shake up the makeup of this basketball team as Giannis and Dame are at the Forefront of that operation maybe that means Brook Lopez is out Bobby poris is out I think Milwaukee is going to make some moves and overall like on paper Brook Lopez is still a really good player 12 and a half points per game last year not nearly the rebounder that he once was down to less than six a game but he could still protect protect the rim at an extremely high clip 2.4 blocks and he has become a knockdown shooter from three you get a guy that can protect the rim legit size at 7 foot and 36% from three that sounds awesome right but it’s 2024 and 2025 is less than six months away if this was four years ago I’d be all in in trading for Brook Lopez but I believe Brook Lopez is someone that doesn’t have that much time left in his NBA career I think the best days for him are behind him and he is 36 years old so for that reason I am uninterested in trading for Brook Lopez 36 years old I want someone that can continue to develop and get better under Tom Tibido we’ve got more players to talk about but I want you to weigh in who is your top replacement for Isaiah hardenstein not that many great ones out there stinks it really does stink but got to move on and you got to keep it pushing give me a player you want to see come to the New York Knicks and play the center spot all right tier two Replacements tier one guys that I don’t know how likely it is but are talented and I think would keep the level of this team pretty close to what hartenstein did tier two options let’s start with the big man the veteran from the Atlanta Hawks Clint capella there’s been some talk about maybe he could be on the trade deadline uh they’re paying Ana Aang Wu a pretty decent penny so maybe they look to move on from him in priority the development of a Kong wo for me though Clint capella you got to think about it like this how are the New York Knicks going to match the money for him they would have to include Mitchell Robinson in that trade and honestly I’m not trading Mitchell Robinson for capella I know that capella is a walking double double averaged 1.5 blocks last year with half a steel and 11 and a half points per game and almost 11 rebounds he’s an alleo threat which I don’t know of transfers to the Knicks because they don’t really have point guards outside of Tyler Cole that’s throws the lob Jaylen Brunson said it on a podcast recently if I’m going to the right I can’t throw a lob with my right hand so maybe that’s something that the New York New York Knicks have to think about if they are going to pursue capella for me I’m not trading Mitch for him good player but he’s older 30 years old Mitch could still improve um I think Mitch’s a better player just the durability is the main reason I am worried about him think about like this are we really going to enter a season after trading four first round picks with the only serious investment at Center being Mitchell Robinson who is a good player but has only played more than 59 games one time in the last four years that seems pretty damn risky to me Isaiah Stewart the New York native another player I want to spend some time talking about and he’s someone that could stretch the four he has become a nice three-point shooter at that big man spot knocked it down at a 38% clip last year it’s the height for me though that’s kind of the hold up only 6’8 not the best rim protector in the world I say he’s below average at that and it just makes you a much smaller team and I’m not so sure that you want Isaiah Stewart being your starting center as you still have to go up against some centers in the East like Joe embiid who Robinson is showy could do a pretty good job on and it would be tough to match the salaries as well and that’s something I think all Nicks fans should keep in mind look the only people that they’re going to trade at this point on this roster in my opinion are Mitchell Robinson dece McBride and and a small small chance at Julius Randall so you got $29 million from Randall you got $14 million from Mitch and $4 million from Duce so you have to find a way to match salary almost perfectly to get a deal done I’m not sure how you do that with steuart or capella or maybe even cavon Looney who’s the next player we’re going to talk about who makes $8 million per year and he had his contract picked up by the Golden State Warriors maybe the Warriors look to move on from Lon bug and you could add Robinson to that and you get another player with lone as well from Golden State and honestly Looney was one of my top replacements for Isaiah hartenstein as there was word that the warriors were not going to pick up his contract one of the best rebounding bigs in the league he’s an NBA champion he’s been there he’s done that he could protect the rim he could switch on screens he makes the Knicks defense I think a little bit more versatile as to where um Robinson is more of a paint threat Looney could switch on to some guys on the perimeter I’m just not sure how the Knicks would make the money work 8 million coming from Looney are you giving up Robinson for Looney can you get Looney and someone else from the Golden State Warriors the dubs have been looking for a natural big man for a long time could that be Robinson I’m not so sure but Looney I think would be a good replacement you’d still need a backup center we’ll see what they continue to do last player we’re going to talk about on today’s show is Zach Collins of the San Antonio Spurs could they be looking to move on from him as they prioritize Victor wanyama being being the big man of the future Collins makes about $15 million similar range as Robinson I just think Robinson is a little bit better of a player Collins a little bit more skilled as he could be somewhat of a playmaking hub at times and doing things like that but at the end of the day I just don’t see how the New York Knicks uh would trade Robinson for Collins so for that reason I am out on that quickly to recap some of the trade targets look Robinson he’s your guy he’s the one you’re going to be doing uh doing uh promoting excuse me to that starting line expecting a lot out of him I the talents there for this team to be successful if he is the starting center I think the ceiling for this team gets lowered but he’s got to be healthy and that’s what I’m worried about Wendell Carter my top trade Target the Knicks are supposedly making uh are in negotiations with the Utah Jazz for Walker Kessler Brook Lopez Clint capella Isaiah Stewart gavon Looney and Zack Collins the facts are the facts there ain’t that many great options out there maybe they could look to tweet that male Bridges trade package as that deal has not been made official Nick’s probably still trying to find a way to not hard cap themselves at that first apron could they find a way to get Dron sharp back from the Brooklyn Nets that is something I would keep my eye on overall this is what I would do I would resign precious atua I think has earned a roster Spa on this team what he did for this ball club last year cannot be cannot be praised enough then I am looking to package or seeing what the offers are out there and a deal for Mitch and McBride then I am signing veteran point guard Kyle Lowry to be my backup point guard I love Duce McBride my question to you is this if Dante D venzo is your first guard Off the Bench for the foreseeable future as he is going to be due to the contract how much playing time is Duce McBride actually going to have cuz you know Bridges you know Brunson are going to play 35 Plus minutes demenzo is going to be close to 25 is Duce McBride now down to 15 minutes that seems like you could trade that player I love Duce love the contract I know people are going to cry Marshall you hate du got to spend money to make money can’t be scared if you can find someone that elevates this team in the starting lineup at that Center position while still having Dante and Josh Hart Off the Bench with prea your team is eight deep and you might be able to beat the Boston Celtics a lot still to transpire
