  1. Still 17 mill/year for JI. Idc we didn’t get PG or fucking tyus jones lol, our FO crushed it. Continuity is key at this current stage. We’ve got so many good contracts

  2. 24MillionBrazilians

He’s been making about 17 mil the past few seasons, and seems like he’ll continue that. Very surprised that it’s such a long contract for an injury prone player. But if he stays healthy for at least 2-3 of the 5 years, I guess that would be a win and a huge bargain. Maybe could be used in a trade down the road too

Even if 5 years may be a bit longer than I wanted, his defense is way too valuable for us to let loose any time soon. Even if he gets banged up along the way, it’s worth keeping this guy on the roster. Really think he has the potential to make All-Defense noise this year even off the bench….

  4. Venice_The_Menace

i wish i could over-commit to anything the way the Magic have committed to Jon Isaac, lmao.

Can’t do anything but hope he stays healthy moving forward though.

5 years is longer than I am comfortable with considering his injury history and he hasn’t really proven yet he can stay healthy long term. However with his defensive impact and seemingly figuring out a role on offense I’m fine with the money amount. Hopefully he stays healthy

  6. jakehightower

Couldn’t be happier. Was very prepared to defend him getting 20+ per year, 16.8ish (probably front loaded) is a steal.

  7. jester695

A mil for each minute per game averaged, or so. Sweet deal.

  8. United-Dish6664

We’ll have to see the specifics of the contract… If he’s healthy it’s worth the price tag, seems like a huge if given his history.

  9. Special_Push7751

It’s going to be like 25+M year 1 then heavily protected/non guaranteed years 2-5.

  10. Bazzabond

Hopefully front ended alot to free up cash when we need to pay our young guys. At least $21m, $19m, $17m, $15m, $13m

    And team option 5th year

  11. I love JI and I’m super pumped he’s back long term but this signing paired with all the other ones tells me there’s potential for a trade. We have run back the same team I’m assuming ingles will be back also and added KCP while also drafting da Silva and adding Jett and AB into more primary rotation roles. I’m purely speculating that some guys are going to be on the move. Guys like WCJ and Cole and potentially some young guys if it’s a big name. Does this seem like a fair thought to anyone else?

For everyone freaking out about the length of the deal, I’d imagine they probably added additional health stipulations that he had on the current one.

Also can’t imagine they don’t have a team option in one of the last years too

  13. krunk_rabbit

Weltman’s first draft pick and boy has he really committed to him. $175mil in career earnings, he’s now going to have made more than T-Mac did for his career.

  14. Gonna balloon this years payment so his yearly total will be lower. Excited to read the details about availability and guarantees but this is huge!

  15. dracoolya

Heeeeyyy, look at that. They used an F instead of a C. 😃

  16. They must be confident in him being healthy. If he can play 50-60 games a year and be ready for the playoffs then this is a great contract. Healthy JI is a DPOY level player. Can’t find that for 17mil a year.

  17. dexterrrr_

Will be interested to see if there are injury/games played stipulations in the deal.

  18. Bobby_Savoy

These fucks on twitter we’re just eyeing him now they call it an overpay 😭

  19. elfridpaytonshair

Hope it’s extremely front loaded, I love JI (when he’s actually on the court)

  20. Confident-Bell-3340

Cheap for one of the best defenders in the league with the cap going up

  21. jurassicperiod

All these signings have me so wet
    😩😩💦💦
    WE WINNING THE CHIP!!

  22. casebarlow

I know five seasons seems long but at the AAV this is a good price for a defensive monster.

  23. shishasmoker

This dude is not even worth the vet minimum.

  24. Conversation_Dapper

We’re sticking with the same roster again . And this guy always injured to

  25. darkside1579

With a guy like this you want a longer contract not a shorter one. The reality is hes worth way, way, way more than his annual salary if he stays healthy. If he stays healthy the next 2-3 years and then has to get a new deal its going to be a lot more than 16 mil a season. Like at least double that.

Obviously there is risk it can go horribly wrong but considering they stuck with him after everything already no reason not to now that it actually worked for a season
