the warriors were not bringing back Chris Paul on a $30 million deal to work with other teams on possible Klay Thompson signning trades I know what you guys might be saying Mike you’ve been making way too many videos on the Golden State Warriors lately and it’s not my fault that they’re making the most moves this off season and it’s moves that don’t necessarily benefit them I mean so far all the news we have about the Golden State Warriors is how much they’ve struggled to try to reshape their team and still remain competitive we have multiple rejected trades in this video that I’m going to bring up to you but they’re also releasing a player that they were hoping that could get them over the hump this past year and it doesn’t seem like it really helped them at all whatsoever so before we what’s going on everybody last year the Golden State Warriors were in some trouble throughout their entire season last year there was tension between the Golden State Warriors and Jordan pool I mean things were great the year before when they won a championship with Jordan pool even saying to Andrew Wiggins hey you about to get a bag get you about to get a bag we about to get a bag but then when time came for training camp Draymond Green just went off the rails I mean at the time we didn’t know who side to take should you take Jordan P’s side or Draymond Green side but I think after a whole other year of seeing Draymond Green’s Behavior I don’t think it’s that bold to see who was in the right and who was in the wrong in this particular instance Draymond Green was caught on camera punching the living Talent out of Jordan pool things were not the same for the Golden State Warriors throughout the entire season there was footage about Jordan pool not really putting as much effort in during their 2023 playoff run and the Warriors essentially had to choose between the Old Guard The Big Three that won them three out of their four championships before Jordan pool came along and the new young talent that they were trying to add on to develop while competing simultaneously with their old big three at that point they already gave up on James wisman shipping him off for peanuts so they could bring back Gary Payton but with Draymond Green’s free agency last year the Warriors essentially had to choose between Draymond Green and Jordan pool and a part of me is wondering whether they chose correctly in hindsight again there’s a reason why Bob Meyers stepped down and it seemed like no matter what decision the Warriors would have made made it would have been a tough one you’re either saying goodbye to your big three that won you four championships or you’re retaining the big three and screwing over the young talent that you invested in and it seems like in the case of Mike Dunley Jr he chose to appease the big three and that didn’t really work out and he did it in the most backward way ever I mean very shortly after saying this about Jordan P especially with his contract extension uh plan to have him here for four more years at least the Golden State Warriors decided to ship Jordan pool to the Washington Wizards in a trade that I can’t believe I’m saying this but it looks like the Wizards won Bear in mind the Warriors didn’t just ship Jordan P they shipped Ryan Rollins Patrick Baldwin Jr a second round pick a 2030 first round pick which was top 20 protected and cash considerations just so they could receive Chris Paul now Jordan pool was a bit of a dumpster fire to start the season I mean we MD him mercilessly on this channel I made maybe way too much content on him on this channel Channel but the philosophy was that maybe Chris Paul could come off of the bench maybe Chris Paul can get the youngsters off of the bench more involved and for the most part he performed how we expected him to perform he wasn’t bad by any means at all whatsoever we’re talking about a 38-year-old Chris Paul he averaged nine points and seven assists while playing six less minutes per game and even shot 37% from three the problem is is that Chris Paul was set to make $30 million this year and according to W that doesn’t really make a lot of sense for the Golden State Warriors this was certainly expected the warriors were not bringing back Chris Paul on a $30 million deal at this point in his career but they had moved the date back from Friday till today to see if they could find a way to maybe use that contract in a trade and think if somebody else had taken it on they would have done uh the same thing and gotten the money off now for Chris Paul he becomes an unrestricted free agent and at a much lower number there’ll be a lot of interest in Chris Paul he is still can be an impactful player even at his age but it wasn’t going to be $30 million and now for the Warriors listen they were always projecting themselves in free agency without that salary on their cap listen the Warriors are preparing to work with other teams on possible Klay Thompson a sign in trades whether it’s the Lakers the Dallas Mavericks you know those are all conversations that the Warriors now may start having now if you’re a Golden State Warriors fan I understand that this has been a very difficult off season so far so far we know that clay Thompson is not returning to the Golden State Warriors because he felt disrespected by their offer and he wishes that the Golden State Warriors would actually value him he’s so spiteful about the fact that the front office doesn’t value him that he’s willing to take less money reportedly to sign with a different team none of this really makes a lot of sense to me but it gets even pettier the Golden State Warriors had an offer for Paul George the trade package included CP3 Andrew Wiggins Jonathan kaminga Moses a smooy and a first round pick but the Clippers turned it down because they didn’t want the Warriors to get Paul George I mean it’s kind of hilarious if you think about it like the Clippers are looking at the Warriors thinking that the Warriors are going to be the ultimate path to winning a championship I mean the West totally goes through the Warriors even if they have Paul George but in reality even if the Warriors got Paul George yes that’s an upgrade but the West is so stacked that I think you have bigger fish to fry than were in about the Golden State Warriors at this point if you’re the Clippers you’re in such a bad situation that you need any assets that you can get whatsoever especially if Paul George is leaving for nothing possibly but that didn’t end up panning out so the Chicago Bulls and the Warriors explored a trade for Zack LaVine and this is how that went down I’m going to give some context some background real quick on what happened with Chris Paul they wanted to see if they could what Chris Paul would agree to push the the guaranteed date back again to give them more time Chris Paul in this camp they were not amenable to that um I was told that the Chicago Bulls were trying to get something going with the Golden State Warriors trying to get a Zack Laine package together you know what I was told it could have been a Zack LaVine for Chris Paul or Andrew Wiggins the Warriors how was explained to me the Warriors they didn’t feel that was an adequate amount uh for a deal structure so things didn’t go as planned so that fell through which led to the Golden State Wars choosing to release Chris Paul and I was told it was Mike dunby the general manager who called Chris Paul and gave him the news so when neither of those things happen the warriors were in some serious trouble and the Warriors only option at that point was to straight up wave Chris Paul this is pretty much the Golden State Warriors waving the white flag and saying there isn’t really a trade out there that we wish to pursue originally they pushed back Chris Paul’s option but now it’s official because according to Shams golden state is waving Chris Paul Paul had a $30 million guarantee date today he now becomes a free agent it really sucks man for the Warriors because I don’t really see how they improve from here maybe they pursue some high-end role players to replace the fact that Klay Thompson left there aren’t a lot of players out there that make me think that they can immediately improve the Golden State Warriors but in terms of Chris Paul he has a lot of nice options I mean the top teams that would be interested in Chris Paul is originally we heard the Clippers would be interested I’m not necessar fairly sure if the interest is still there but we also know that the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in Chris Paul if it’s for a veteran minimum contract LeBron and CP3 have been open to teaming up for years and the opportunity is now there okay I guess Lakers fans finally will get to see Chris Paul in a Laker jersey after all only it’s going to be 13 years later when he’s clearly past his prime possibly playing in a benol if he decides to sign with us look at the end of the day Chris Paul on a veteran minimum contract is an incredible acquisition what he brings to the table in the locker room in the film room and his brain for basketball is invaluable but coming from a Laker fan I don’t think the best place that Chris Paul can go to is the Los Angeles Lakers as a matter of fact I think the coolest place that Chris Paul can go to is the San Antonio Spurs I mean could you imagine Chris Paul in a Greg papovich like system two of the greatest basketball Minds teaming up with one another to try to further develop Victor web and Yama does it result in Chris Paul winning a championship it’s kind of difficult to say yes to this but will it make for some exciting basketball and be incredible for wem’s development most definitely and Mark Stein says that San Antonio has very strong interest in Chris Paul to join forces with wemi the San Antonio Spurs desperately need a point guard it is the perfect point guard in this scenario it’s a clear upgrade to their roster and so far the San Antonio Spurs have been making great upgrades to their roster they drafted Stefan castle with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft but that was more for defense Stefan Castle still needs to develop a bit of a jump shot but he’s very long and could develop into an incredible two-way player regardless this is the second year in a row where Chris Paul is switching teams and it wouldn’t take very long for Chris Paul to make his decision and to be honest I think he made the right decision here according to Chris B Haynes Chris Paul is expected to sign with the San Antonio Spurs which means to close out his career you’re going to going to see Chris Paul and Victor web inyama in pick and rolls personally I think this is awesome from multiple perspectives I think one this is going to be incredible for Victor web and yama’s development but two we also get to see Greg papovich one of the greatest head coaches of all time team up with one of the most intelligent point guards of all time does this make the San Antonio Spurs a contender it’s very difficult to say for sure but I do think that they have the potential to at the very least sneak into the NBA playoffs this year and that’s given how low to the Western conferences it wouldn’t shock me if they miss the playoffs but regardless we could all agree that the San Antonio Spurs are going to be worth getting NBA League Pass 4 now we’re just getting started man there’s so much news coming out and we should have news on Paul George right now all we know is he is
