To be fair, I’m glad we didn’t jump the gun and get a washed Klay. I feel like that would’ve burned us. Still think there’s one big move coming but I rather let Rob cook then do something rash

Pelinka’s got a lot of problems, but this isn’t really a fair statement. There’s been news every single day about possible trades or free agents. Sure they aren’t coming to fruition and some probably aren’t even true, but there’s too many rumors and too much buzz for him not to be attempting some moves.

As of right now, the Lakers have just switched Knecht for Prince, with hopefully Vando, Wood, and Vincent all coming back healthy after they missed the bulk of the year. I think the Lakers will be slightly better overall, even if they make no further moves. Western Conference was tight last year, and the Lakers were 12 games over .500. They were only 3 games back of the Mavs who went to the finals. I think they could have beaten any team in the Western Conference other than the Nuggets, who just got weaker. No need to panic.

I am just hoping he pulls off another surprise trade. This team needs to improve this summer. LeBron openly says he’ll take a pay cut. It’s a matter of pride on multiple levels

Yoo everyone is loosing their shit but tbh I’m glad we didn’t jump the gun on a washed star. We have a solid lineup. The one thing I think we messed up on is a solid big to backup AD but besides that..run it back and let’s see how the season goes. Nuggets are the only real team we can’t beat. Fuck boston

I don’t think people really understand what’s happening around the NBA right now. All these luxury tax teams are having to deal with a new reality. That second apron is no joke, I don’t care how rich you are. There are a lot of teams grappling with this reality. If teams are shelling out 300-400 million PER SEASON, whoever the owners are aren’t gonna be rich for very long, now are they? I hear people talk about Ballmer just spending like he doesn’t care but clearly that’s not true because they did not want the burden of carrying a 4th year for Paul George. Miami, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Denver, Golden State, and a couple other teams.. they’re all struggling to find ways to adapt too which is why you see so many guys walking for nothing.

And that’s where the Lakers are right now. They don’t have a ton of money to give out, even with the alleged pay cut being floated around. Second apron teams will lose their MLE, they also can’t send out more money than they bring in which means you need to find a delicate balance of not gutting your team just because the money adds up. They have to be very careful about how they go about putting together a team, which is why you see them mostly targeting specific guys.

So far, the only target that they probably had wanted but missed out on is JV. Otherwise, I don’t think they’ve really had a misstep. They have to be deliberate, and not just make something happen for the sake of doing something. Maybe they get Grant out of Portland, or not. Who knows. But ya’ll gotta relax.

There, my book report is done.
